Weird to see some people going nuts about 150gb when the game was 105gb on consoles at launch and has had many large patches since then. What were you expecting?

can't say that im surprised by the seemingly lack of RTX - the game has a very dialed in look with insane amount of volumetric lighting, I guess adding rtx might dramatically alter the visuals. Probably why the game didnt really have proper HDR for ages either.

Bro do you not have a 2TB HDD just to chuck games on

It's cheap as fuck nowadays

I have one but there are a lot of things in the form of entertainment other than just 'games' ya know... and its filled with them. Anyways that HDD is nearly full already lol. One game requiring 150 gigs just so it can force 4K textures and MP on you when you just wanna only play the SP is ridiculous still plus my internet speed isn't that fast. Already the destiny 2 79 gig preload took me 23-24 hours to do so.

Guess there is no ray tracing otherwise recommended would probably include an RTX card, (which is no big deal, game looked amazing)

Surprisingly manageable specs

Recommended cpu seems a little high to me hope my 4690k can hit 60fps @1080p

12gb of RAM? I hope 8 doesn't present many issues. Otherwise I'm good on specs and ready to run this at 1440p/60+

Will update my 1700 to 3700X at Christmas time for this game, hope my 1080ti has the grunt for Ultrawide 1440p.

Building a new computer that's going to have a 1TB NVMe SSD on it. Guess I know what's going to take up a good portion of that drive...

aside from the ridiculous storage requirement, that seems fairly reasonable. wish my laptop had a more powerful CPU (it's slightly below the recommended requirement) but oh well

rockstar games are always very cpu intensive right? i can't go max settings on gta 5 even though i have a 1070.

I'd like more devs to specify what each recommendation are for, like this:

This. Albeit I realise they'd need to have a clear disclaimer for the people with shitty setups who don't achieve this performance despite having the 'specs'.

After GTAV was one of the most well optimized ports I've ever played, I'm not terribly surprised to see specs this reasonable.

It's times like this I wish PC games were released physically as well
I could be wrong but I think this is getting a limited physical release sort of like what happened with GTA V on PC? Or at least it seemed like that based off the press release that Rockstar did about the release of the PC version

it's less to do with rockstar and more to do with the fact that they mostly make massively detailed open world games
that being said, gta 5 is well optimized because it scales really well depending on your settings, but for absolutely maxing out (advanced settings included) you do need something like a 1080 ti at least.

Wait what, my i5 4690k will STILL do just fine with this huge open world title? I wasn't sure when I have to retire it but it seems next stop is going to be Cyberpunk and I will see from there.

I'm excited to see how well RDR performs!

Games this generation are built in with PS4 and X1's terrible CPUs in mind so yeah.

It's the sole reason so many older chips like the 2500k managed to live for so long.

Recommended is way lower then I was expecting, like a 2060 or something. My 1080Ti and 2700x is ready, let's do this.

Still waiting for my 2070 Super ROG Strix OC by ASUS. Hopefully it'll be shipped until December, wanna play in 1440p60.

Specs look to good to be true. Let's see...

That's... actually really tame requirements, though my old PC will still struggle a lot lol

I expected more since the graphics are really good when I played it on PS4. It's tempting to upgrade my GPU just to play this game.

Specs seem very reasonable, but Xbox One X is pulling native 4k (albeit at 30 fps of course) so their engine is probably well optimised.

I'm curious to know what will be possible to do in term of modding
I was disappointing by how closed GTAV was on that question

That said, Rockstar's done some work on RDR2 since its console release. According to the developer, the PC version will include:

  • Increased draw distance
  • "Higher quality" global illumination and ambient occlusion
  • "Improved" snow trails
  • "Improved" reflections and higher resolution shadows
  • Tessellated tree textures
  • "Improved" grass and fur textures
  • HDR support
  • Unlocked resolution (4K and higher)
  • Ultrawide aspect ratio and multi-monitor support
  • Unlocked framerate
