Seems to me like multiplayer will be delayed, indeed. Why would they offer money for GTA Online instead of RDR2 Online?

...There's absolutely 0 chance that Rockstar, after GTA V online's success, would drop MP from RDR 2, like not a chance in hell that's going to happen. They are beholden to shareholders and want to make as much money, they aren't going to ignore the one thing that's made them the most money in the past decade.

The GTA online cash is to get GTA players over to RDR.

I remember that on my first playthrough of RDR I ended up using the preorder horse almost exclusively. I also managed to ruin the first ride into Mexico as I called my horse and the song got interrupted. Honestly, it was one of those games that I'd have probably enjoyed even more without the preorder bonus, so if I decide to buy RDR2 I certainly will not preorder it.

Can't wait for another game I buy solely for the single player to get 50GB of useless, mandatory multiplayer bloat to fill up my drive. Doom and GTA V are the worst in this regard. This should stop! Make mp optional.

The only reason people care about Red Dead Redemption is the single player. If the sequel isn't about the single player I have no interest.

Yeah, and once again, what would make you think they wouldn't have a beefy single player like every single other Rockstar open world game in existence? Rockstar has said that single player is a huge focus for them, the previews shown thus far have been about an incredibly detailed world that will no doubt go hand in hand with a single player experience. Fucks sake you people just whine and complain so much.

You know, I'm super interested in this game, but I don't think I'd ever play or buy a RDR game in October. I know it's the hot time to release because holidays blah blah, but to me it's fall/halloween and I'm not even remotely in a mood for it (Undead Nightmare being a possible outlier of course).

Calling the single player Story Mode indicates there will be an Online Mode but giving away GTA Online money also indicates that RDR2 MP won't be available at launch. I guess it's another GTA 5 situation.

You know what's up. Still remember the outrage on the third trailer thread because of no gameplay, like R* are somehow obliged to show something since it's 2018.
They know damn well that games, especially open worlds get spoiled by showing slices of gameplay and lose their "magic". They honed this marketing skill for a long time and it's effective. On the same note, we consumers know what we're gonna get into especially if we played at least rdr and gta v before, so that is why they insist on the previews and the new stuff and features.
I know I will love the game but can't wait for the 26th of Oct. to see the gushing by some of the "concerned" folk here.

Rockstar fuckin kills everything. I have zero concern. And yeah that includes *GASP* GTA Online. There isn't a single game out there that has been continuously updated for the length of time and amount of content that GTA Online has. All for free.

All you ever hear with gamers are whining and bitching. It's pathetic. Every announcement. Every preview. Every OT. Every review. Every Youtube video. Fucks sake people if you got this much to complain about to find another hobby maybe?

At this point I'm not worried at all about RDRII's single player. Online has hardly even been mentioned at this point and everything we've seen and read (especially the previews about a month back) point to the "story mode" being one of the most ambitious gaming experiences to date. Wouldn't be surprised if they roll out RDR: Online a month later even if it's just to encourage people to complete the "story mode" first.

These pre-order bonuses don't mean much to me, I'm just waiting to see what the special editions will have. I'm hoping Sony gets to talk about them at E3, and have my fingers crossed for a special edition PS4 Pro bundle.

If true about MP being delayed.

I hope the people who were going on about how this game would be more online focused and Rockstar don't care about single players would shut up.

The Houser Brothers see themselves as writers. They can't write scripts for multiplayer, but they sure can for single player. I don't see them ever downing single player with those two in charge. They only gave a toss about GTA online once the money started coming in.

They have a bundle with the collectors edition and the Ultimate edition for £180

Seems weird to me that the $500k cash bonus is for GTA Online. Why wouldn't they tie this to RDR2's online?

If you spend this money you can't cancel the pre-order anymore in Europe, I think that's the main reason.

Besides this, the pre order bonuses are absolutely horrible.
I was interested but I'm going to stay faaar away from this now.. I even started RDR the original the other day to prepare but when I went to look in the store for rdr 2 today I was baffled.
They're locking single player content away in the 1000 NOK ultimate edition.. It's insane and should be on top of the news really.

Story Mode content that is locked in the most expensive version:

• Bank Robbery Mission & Gang Hideout
• Dappled Black Thoroughbred
• Talisman & Medallion Gameplay Bonuses
• Gameplay Boosts, Cash Bonuses & Discounts
• The Nuevo Paraiso Gunslinger Outfit
• Cash bonus for Story mode

I mean, WTF...

Considering the interview the other day where they claimed they hadn't looked into monetisation yet they were lying through their teeth..

Will be 100% buying the poverty edition as always. I hate preorder/special edition bonuses that make the start of the game easier.
One mission does not seem worth paying a premium for in my opinion.

No thanks.

Rockstar's refusal to update GTAV for the Xbox One X despite selling 80 million copies and marketing it as a nextgen remaster tells me all I need to know about how Consumer friendly they are as a company.

Will be passing on RDR.

They've now officially announced the pre-order and digital pre-order bonuses, and a special edition, ultimate edition, and collector's box:

https://www.rockstargames.com/newsw...-Special-Edition-Ultimate-Edition-and-Collect

"Bank Robbery Mission and Gang Hideout in Story Mode: Get exclusive access to a Bank Robbery Mission, in which Arthur and a couple of his fellow gang members come up with a daring plan to break in and rob the bank in the southern town of Rhodes."

If there was a remaining doubt about the leaked map being real, it did mark a small southern town called Rhodes.
