- Entirely playable in 1st person mode.
- Customisable HUD.
- Each character will have different sets of clothes to coincide with weather conditions.
- Like the first game you have a range of choices, and your decision affects your honor meter.
- When hunting, you can sell the carcass or take it to the butchers for meat. If you leave it too long, it'll rot.
- Your camp will not wait for you. Members of your gang who reside at camp will come and go, and finding out where exactly they've gone from others will be the basis of a number of quests and side quests.
- If you hold the trackpad to turn on the cinematic camera you can set a waypoint and hold X and your horse will automatically make its way to the destination.
- As you skin an animal, you can see where the exit wounds are.
- You can pet dogs. Those dogs won’t bark at you again if you see them.
- You can buy newspapers which will cover events that occur throughout the story.

Weapons and Gunplay
- You can physically see all your weapons on Arthur's character model. You can hold only hold two sidearms and two long weapons (along with a knife, lasso, and throwables).
- Gun customisation, such as engravings.
- Dead Eye now has 5 levels, Level 1 allows for slowdown, Level 2 allows you to paint targets and unleash a barrage of shots, and Level 3 allows you to manually pick your shooting points, etc.
- It's possible to shoot weapons out of enemy hands.
- Weapons get dirty and clogged up over time, or if you get them wet, so you’ll need to clean them to get the best performance.
- If you double-tap L1 Arthur puts his gun away with a flourish.

- Beard grows over time, but you can shave.
- Clothing customisations go as far as allowing layering and minor adjustments, like the option to roll up your sleeves.
- You get hungry over time, but you can get fat if you eat too much, effecting stamina.
- Stats like stamina can be raised by doing physical activities (such as in GTA V or Bethesda RPG's).
- Snow on Arthur’s clothing will eventually melt. Mud will harden and wipe away. Blood will dry.
- You can swim (just about).
- Putting on a bandana during a crime and then taking it off afterwards makes the Wanted meter drop faster.
- You can pay your own bounty, but townspeople will still remember any trouble you caused and comment on it when you return.
- Arthur can look at his reflection in the mirror and will comment on what he sees.

- The whistle command button can be held down and Arthur will whistle until he runs out of breath.
- Visit Stables to customise your horse, switching out its saddle, blanket, stirrups, reins and saddle horn.
- You can name your horse.
- You can clean your horse.
- Horses poop dynamically.
- If your horse dies, it’s gone forever.
- You can tell your horse to flee when it’s in a precarious situation to try to spare its life.
- Horse testicles shrink depending on the in-game weather.

and now comes the first surprise: Red Dead Redemption 2 can be played entirely in first person.

first person confirmed

Can not wait to read these.

Edit: So happy there’s a first person mode and a button to fire a non-lethal shot, but WHY is it still mash X to run, like you’re inflating a bicycle tire? What an incredibly outdated mechanic.

Game Informer said:
Arthur has needs, too, like eating and sleeping. As you play, Arthur gets hungry and tired over time. If you don’t eat or sleep, you won’t regenerate your health or stamina as quickly. It doesn’t seem to veer into pure simulation territory, but I did eat a snack before a gunfight just in case. I can’t say for certain how it works over longer sessions, but Rockstar is adamant that, like the weapon cleaning, it’s not designed to be intrusive.
Survivor elements is a ballsy move R*

Arthur can gain weight and by gaining weight of course, he will be slower etc. You can change outfits, facial hair, haircut as well.

You have to clean and take care of your weapons for more efficiency.

I love these little details holy shit.

I really, really would like a single player game I can sink my teeth into.

I'd prefer sci-fi (so Cyberpunk is top of my list) but this looks like it's be great in the meantime.

Can't wait.

So many previews. I only read the IGN one. lol

Crafting, weather systems in place, customization, stat building, Rob Wietoff is back as John!

First Person? Damn that's new for red dead. I guess its a logical step forward since GTA V have this feature as well. But I doubt I'm going to use it since seeing I like seeing who I'm saying. Nice there is a option now for people who like first person view.

Weight gain is finally back thank you Rockstar wooooot

Hopefully you can actually grow a real beard unlike the Witcher 3 and Deadly Premonition capping it at heavy stubble.

You can jump off your horse onto moving trains, your trained horse will gallop alongside as you're onboard. The contextual system will allow you to take over the train controls or whistle for your horse and jump back on to escape with your loot.

These previews sound amazing so far. RDR was a BIG problem for me when it came out (as in I was dead to the world for the duration of that amazing single player, then goofing off in MP) and this sounds like it's gonna make me relapse lmao.

From the "fact sheet":

Honor is deeply integrated into the game, and works in the background to influence interactions with the world and its characters from moment to moment. While Arthur is an unrepentant outlaw, you still get to decide what kind of outlaw he is. Arthur’s honor will change based on the choices made in his daily activities, and varying levels of honor will have different consequences and opportunities – not all of them immediately obvious.

For example, if playing as a more dishonorable character, the world will respond to you differently - robberies will pay more, it will be easier to intimidate witnesses and kill shots will be more intense.

If playing honorably, bounty hunting jobs will pay more, and kill shots will be more heroic.

Your honor will subtly shift back and forth based on the choices you make as you play.
I like this.

Watching the EZA preview, no new footage is a bummer.

Fuuuucckkkk I am starting to get very hyped for this. Am at work but I just want to read/watch all of these previews.

I went out and bought a 65" Sony 4K LED HDR tv this week because it was on sale. I'm upgrading from a 5+ year old 1080p 40" Sony. Is playing this game on this new TV on a PS4 pro going to blow me away? First big display upgrade I've done in years so I'm pretty hyped. Haven't brought the TV home just yet but these previews are making me salivate at playing this on that new TV oh man.

In San Andreas you had to eat eventually or else you'd lose health gradually.

But overall I'm not a fan of half assing survival elements. The idea behind them is good but AAA devs are too scared to push it to a point where all that stuff is meaningful. It ends up sounding good in preview threads like this but the end result is usually annoying busywork that doesn't really add any of the benefits that a full blown survival system would bring.

and for the people worried about the blood and gore

Red Dead Redemption 2 features limb dismemberment and vital organ targeting"

"the game’s shotguns allow Arthur Morgan to blow heads, arms, and legs clean off."
