I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Searched and didn't find anything. Reggie.gif me if old.

"…n terms of traditional attach rate, the Nintendo Switch is performing at historic levels," says Fils-Aime. "As we sit here today, 'Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,' 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe,' 'Super Mario Odyssey,' each one did attaching at better than 50%, meaning each of these games in the United States across the population of hardware consume one out of every two consumers that bought those games. And we've never seen 50% attach rates to begin with and seeing that across three different games coming up on to our second holiday is completely unheard of."

Last month's Black Friday sales also played a crucial role for the Nintendo Switch, with the platform experiencing a 115% sales bump over Black Friday weekend and Cyber Monday – resulting in an impressive $250 million in sales.
However, Nintendo is still faced with the challenge it set for itself at the start of the year: A goal of 20 million Switch units sold by fiscal 2018. The company currently has 15 million units to move and roughly six months left to meet this goal.

Reggie Fils-Aime: Nintendo Switch Games Performing at 'Historic Levels'

What other games in Nintendo's history achieved a 50% attach rate? MK8 did on Wii U but did anything else, even for just a period of time?

I get the sense that the entire media (and some forum posters) are laser focused on this 20 million mark and we will get extremely different tonal pieces (or posts) if it is met or failed to be met.

Everything these past few months have been "Switch is perfemaning excellently, but I dont know about those 20mil.."

I find it crazy that these three games have such a high attach rate. I will be even more impressed if the attach rate can be maintained for another year.

'roughly 6 months left to meet their target'

I don't get it. Wasn't the interview done in December?

Their games are better than ever. Zelda and Mario were both out of this world.

One out of every two Switch owners is 50% less than it ought to be.

Let everyone see the light.

Let everyone witness the breath of the wild.

I wanna believe that prime 4 will be historic but i get this feeling the west will have to carry the sales weight again like with Prime 3.
If it looks good and marketed well.

It could blow past that 2.7 million prime 1 has.

And with how many of Nintendo series are performing better then Ever. Metroid might be one as well. Fire Emblem is already looking the next Nintendo title becoming its all-time high. (Of course, things could change if people don't like what they see, right now it's had a very good first impression, even if some people say otherwise).

That $250 million in specifically Switch sales seems to confirm that they sold between 800,000 and 900,000 consoles over Black Friday weekend and Cyber Monday. Could be over 900 depending on how deeply discounted it was and in what quantities.

50% sounds crazy but I guess it's not unexpected? Who buys a Switch and not Breath of the Wild or Mario Odyssey?

Well I will always be in the switch owners that do not and will not own those titles, just no interest in playing sequels of sequels of games that havebeen around since time immemorial.

Wish their new IP could have rosy results and 3rd party titles. Sad.

Him not mentioning anything about switch console sales seems to suggest less than stellar performance.

50% attach rates for any game on a console, no matter how big, is ludicrous. He's right that it's incredibly rare int he industry.

I thought Nintendo had sold 8 million units so far, not 5 million?

Out of interest, what games do you like? Specifically.

I got a Switch for Smash and got neither when I did because I do digital.

For those just picking up a Switch now it can be frustrating to see games thst have been out for a while still at original MSRP and infrequent digital sales. They did just run a Mario sale, and got it then, but I'm not picking up Kart or Zelda until there's a sale. Even a small holiday discount on Zelda or Kart digitally would be nice, especially since Kart is being bundled.

Reggie didn't say that.

We'll hopefully know for sure soon when NPD releases

You can count on it. No matter how, Nintendo is always doomed lol!

BotW is the game of the generation as far as I'm concerned. Everyone with a Switch should own that game.

Glad to see Nintendo being on the map again and doing so well. I thought they would never recover after the disaster that was the Wii U. Wish Mr. Iwata was still with us to see the tremendous success Nintendo is going through right now. And its all thank to him actually!

They've never seen 50% attach rates? I'm assuming he means within the first year and a half of a system's life. I'd be surprised if Mario 64 didn't have a 50% attach rate in that time frame. But now I'm real curious how true that statement is.

Hoping Smash Bros will be apart of that 50% as well within a year. Crazy how the Switch has three games with such high attach rate. I remember when the Switch launched Zelda had something like 150% attach rate, which I found funny; people buying the game before the system.
