People sign petitions for this nonsense?! Reggie is rich, he can buy a new chair if he wants one.

This was for Reggie specifically, not Nintendo. Heck, if anything, it casts some harmless shade at Nintendo for not giving Reggie the best possible chair.

If it was about letting him keep his old chair as a memento, it could have been cute. But asking for him to be gifted a new one ? I can't see any reason why as an individual anyone would waste a single breath defending this "cause."

Couple things.

1. I didn't realize that the chair i've been sitting in for the last 13 years at work was this chair, and what THAT expensive.

2. Reggie is rich, but he's celebrity, and people tend to look up and admire them. Whether you find it weird or not doesn't matter. It just how it is.

3. I think it's a bit unfair to assume people who signed this petition put in nothing to assist in other ongoing issues in the world.

Personally i thought this was hilarious more than anything.

"Class envy"? Anyone can get a free chair because they are nice, what does being a millionaire got to do with it? Gamers are just nice people, nothing more to read into this story about corporate worship in this dystopia and how people forming an identity around a cultural product is unhealthy.
