Remember Nintendo's obscure new 3rd-party-made IPs late in the Wii era? (Flingsmash, Takt of Magic, Zangeki no REGINLEIV, The Last Story, etc)

The Last Story is one of the few JRPGs I've completed that I remember nothing about, just a white tiger and the fact you could make all the anime men shirtless. So you know, the essentials.

It was good? I think? Just compared to Xenoblade I can see why it was forgotten.

I'd like Nintendo to fund similar things these days, though they kinda do with the likes of Go Vacation.

It's strange at the time I felt The Last Story was way way better than Xenoblade. I just couldn't get into Xeno at all where as I loved how quick and to the point The Last Story was. Now I can't even remember a single thing about it barring the a twist at the end with the final Villain.

The last story was a charming little game. I really liked it. A sequel would be nice.

Absolutely.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Sakaguchi and Mistwalker were somehow involved with Square Enix again. Meaning, no Second To Last Story, but something else.
