Because Trump is a religion to a lot of people at this point. In fact arguing with people like that is exactly like arguing with super obnoxious religious people. It doesn't matter what the facts are. As long as they believe they are going to benefit that's all that matters.

There are two type of Trump supporters OP... The ones that buy into his cult of personality, the ones who are as zealous for him as any person could be about anything. Then there are those that don't buy into a single bit of what he's saying, but knows they'll make money off of him and his zealots if they play along (though I'm sure there is some cross over).

If one doesn't make sense, the other one almost always does.

This has basically been the case for every person who supported Trump then got deported or had their jobs taken away. Which we've heard many stories of since the election.
