Yeah, we just now found a mentor (Fireblend) for them; I sent Reki a PM with further instructions, and bear will update his OP in a bit to show who's the mentor~
I'm fine with being a replacement. Thank you so much for everything and I'll sign up right away.
Edit: In fact I just did and I just looked at the rules. Part of why I'm fine with being a replacement is that I'm in the middle of moving, but I'm pretty sure I should be able to still do the 10 posts during the day phase even with that going on.

The Mafia Universe Championships are underway. I am replacing Rover as our representative. The game starts on Monday 20th.

Yeah, what do poker players know about mind games, reading behavior, and bluffing, anyway?
Poker is a psychological game too so it makes a lot of sense. You have to treat different players differently and players often switch play style to mess with others like start of passive, then go for an aggressive bluff hoping people interpret you actually having good cards since you played so passively. Reading players is the most important in poker.

Wolves swept in G1, but that's not too rare with so many players that have different metas.
I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, it's just so bizarre to me. Like if you asked me what websites you think host mafia games, Poker websites would be the last thing that comes to mind.
And overall, part of the appeal of Mafia is how universal it is an how easily it can be applied.
I guarantee you, Poker is not the weirdest forum to have been invited to MU. I suspect the organizers just google looking for Mafia threads on any forum they can find.

Mafia Universe started on poker site 2+2. They hosted the first mafia world championships then realised the forum software wasn't good enough so they made a whole new site.
Did not know that, interesting.
At this point I'm assuming the Pornhub mafia community is also participating.

There's still 2+2 terms in their community like +EV, plus expected value (action is generally beneficial).
Mafia Universe was spun off from 2+2 which was (is still?) a poker forum. So not that uncommon actually.
Not nearly as active, but still going I think. Had a game in April.
I genuinely wouldn't be shocked.

I don't think there was ever a precurser to the current community on GAF. I guess the unreliability of Off Topic and site crashes that accompanied gaming news wasn't condusive to forum mafia. Imagine a game getting suspended while you wait for E3 to finish.
I don't think site crashes have that big of an impact and while it's long ago iirc it was really only E3.
Crab I think talking about being surprised there was no community in his first game.
We worried about it a few times, debated what to do if the site went down. I don't think it was ever a HUGE issue. We also opened Outer Gafia pretty early, (after S3, I think,) so we had ONUWs and Minis and stuff.
Honestly, I didn't know Forum Mafia was a thing before I saw Crab's thread on GAF. But since then, I've seen threads on a bunch of forums.
Searched for Mafia communities on Pornhub, found a Russian video with Eng subs called "Playing Mafia game with horny college girls part 1", shit was intense, they played for 15 mins of strip mafia and then the sex started and ruined the video. Tried to find part 2 but can't find it anywhere.
