Reshade is an open-source advanced, fully generic post-processing injector for games and video. Reshade allows one to inject any D3D9, D3D10, D3D11, D3D12 and OpenGL game with advanced postprocessing effects such as Ambient Occlusion, Depth of Field, color correction and more. Seen those beautiful screens at the PC Screenshot or even Emulator screenshot threads? Chances are that Reshade was used to touch up the games running.

For more information on Reshade, click here (https://reshade.me)

As for me personally, I have been working on Reshade sets for a while. Most examples of reshades I've seen have been full of Bloom and other exaggerated effects. I wanted to go for more subtle changes, like removing horrible tints in games, making textures better or color correcting to enhance the atmosphere of games. Below are some of my shaders in action with comparisons. I invite all to submit their tips & tricks on Reshade.

Beauty of PC gaming is the endless customization and Reshade indeed allows for customization unlike anything.

this is just some select few, i have done alot more games and ill happily post more feel free to request games aswell

I really like the look of the games in the examples you posted. The gameworld looks more 'solid' and real, if that makes sense.

Those look really good, awful color choice in western games is one of my biggest gaming pet peeves. Are the sets shareable? Cuz that For Honor one might convince me to play the game finally.

You can turn off the piss filter if you want. I think the game looks better without it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWn08ZsVcPQ
Just look at it. Not sure about the FoV, though. Wouldn't be RE4-5-6 if your character didn't block half of the screen.
Oh I'm aware of how it looks without the piss filter, unfortunately removing the entire filter kinda makes it look off to me, like it's missing something, so I'm wondering if OP's Reshade will fix this.

Are there are other tools to use along with it for picture enhancement or is reshape suppose to be used alone?

Downsides ? Less frame rate etc?

Reshade can be used alongside other techniques such as downsampling (or DSR). The performance hit will depend on what you are applying to the game. Frame rate may suffer if you apply huge amounts of Ambient Occlusion for example, but just correcting colours should have very non existential performance hit.

Looks pretty amazing with games like Dead Space, which already looked crazy good in the lighting department.

Can reshade be applied to emulators like PPSSPP or Citra? I would love to see Metal Gear Ac!d or Solatorobo in HD using enhancements like this.

Those screenshots are amazing, it's not the first time I've heard about Reshade but I kind of ignored it until now. Does reshade affects the performance too much?

I spent forever painstakingly messing with it to get Shovel Knight to look like how it does on the 3DS version.

I kind of like most of the reshade off shots. They look more vibrant especially in the Crysis 3 shots. I like the more vibrant green than the muted ones.

But to each their own.

Some Reshade effects like SMAA, FakeHDR and MXAO do affect fps. I mainly use Lumasharpen and Vibrance to makle the image pop out more. These two dont cause a fps drop and make the game look better.

Reshade is great. Cant go a game without.

Reshade/SweetFX can work absolute wonders for games with terrible color grading in vanilla.

Far Cry 2 (should be obvious which one is which):

So what's the best combination on reshade for a good scanline look for old 2d games o games with a retro look (like shovel knight or bloodstained COTM)?

This is the one I made for Shovel Knight. I don't know if looks good on anything else, I specifically made it to look like how it does on the 3DS screen.

Try one of these Retroarch CRT shader ports instead of Reshade's default. Much easier to perfectly match the scan lines with the vertical resolution by typing in the number instead of fumbling around with a slider.

I used them to recreate that very special crummy TV feel with Bloodstained: CotM.

Those are amazing shots OP. Cant wait till you share the configs! The Rise of the Tomb Raider one is great, but that Yakuza 0 one is on another level, unbelievable.

But will it be all for naught with raytracing I ask

Cool shots, I usually play around with these things for a bit and then get too lazy to optimize ;)

I used to use this with Skyrim, makes it pretty and with less stress on my poor system.

And ESO too, I can keep some more taxing graphical settings lower while making the game look actually better. In fact, I used supersampling alongside Reshade to make my game pretty and it still ran better than the game runs on Ultra normally.

It is magical.

And LotRo too, so easy to make a really pretty game without taking away the feel of the game. ESO is really hazy and frankly, unpleasant without Reshade. And I am one of those who dislike unnatural look in games. I always pick the most natural looking presets I can, or I fiddle long enough to make passable ones myself (I am not very good at it, my still manage to make games look better than vanilla).

Must be noted that I use it only if I feel that there is something wrong with the games visuals. Too bright, too dull, nasty tint etc.

Not my video, but a excellent example of how you can add stereo 3D to almost everything (so long as the game allows reshade to see the 3D depth map). As a 3D gamer, reshade is amazing for this.

EDIT: Not sure how that video looks on all displays, but on the Vive, it looks great. So YMMV.

Thanks for the thread, I'll report back on your screenshots tomorrow when they finish loading X'D

At some point I used Reshade on pretty much every game. I mostly applied some film grain and cinematic color grading, basically traying to achieve a more filmic look. I stopped because to be honest I just can't be bothered installing it and configuring it for every game anymore... If I could copy and paste a good profile on my games I would, but most of the times those I find on the internet are either too over the top, or not the style I'm aiming for.

I loved the cinematic look I managed to get with GTA V. It felt like a Michael Mann movie, and much less "gamey" than the default look.

Since seeing Queen's reshades, I've really started noticing how many games love having a yellow hue over the whole picture. As someone else mentioned above, Queen's reshades really do help bring it a more realistic approach.

While I haven't been spending much time with reshade for most of my games, I've found that messing with it on certain competitive games has drastically helped improve my reaction times.

Ooohh that looks nifty. Need to try it. Should look amazing on Rift too.
