"So apparently the timer is tied to the amount of achievements unlocked. So if you unlocked the 10th minute achievements, if you force the game to close through task manager or Alt+F4 at 12 min, it will revert back to 10 when you launch again.

Simply put, the DRM tracks your achievements to set the timer. It might be moddable after all. The mod would need to be activated after the game is launched and the tracking is made perhaps. "

This is interesting too!

Might just be various degrees of uncompressed textures. Someone should make a texture setting comparison.

I mean the textures take up more space than the entire demo...

3440x1440 70-100fps (capped).

All maxed apart from AA (off) and Textures (High 6GB).

Ryzen 1700
Titan X Pascal
16GB RAM

One of the few games where that extra GB of VRAM on the Titan X Pascal over the 1080Ti is a blessing.

Also worth noting, whilst the gameplay is all ultrawide, none of the cutscenes (even in-engine) are Ultrawide.

4k tv

60 fps in 4k with no drops, some things on max, some things on high.
The performance overall was really stable and good.

My 2600k and 1070 rocked through the demo at a solid 60 at 1080p on high settings with all optional stuff enabled. I hope this is indicative of the entire game or it was just ok in this close quarters section. I was originally planning on grabbing this on PS4 mostly due to silly sentimental reasons & wanting to sit on a comfy couch but now I have second thoughts.

Going to download the PS4 version and see how I feel. Saying that though, based on the quickest 30 minutes of my entire life I can honestly see a double dip in the future.

Hm, this thread has me worrying. I'm not even going to dl the demo, nor rush to buy when it launches. I'm waiting for patches and a price cut.

The 2600K feels like it will last forever. I was still using one right up until last month.

I'm in the menu now and wow, one of the best setups ever. You can tweak absolutely everything with detailed previews, fucking fantastic job Capcom.

1080Ti, R7 2700x, DX12, 1440p

Ran very smooth for me. I maxed out all settings and got 75-115FPS. Average was ~80-85fps. No stuttering, no hitches ran and felt very smooth.
VRAM was at 7.5GB max. I doubt that those "advertised" high res textures are present in this 7.6GB demo build.

So you've monitored it?

Did they mean system RAM instead of video RAM and they got confused?

If there are high res 8GB textures, they probably aren't present in a 7.6GB demo build. Packing/unpacking algorythms aside, they probably didn't want to inflate the demo size.

Quick run in the lobby on my 2080 +2700x build.

Everything maxed including textures, 1080.

I'm getting 100+ fps with dips into the 90s. Sitting around 120-140 mostly.

Not a fan of the large amount of reflection on the surfaces at max textures, though.

Can someone explain the one shot? If I start the demo I will have 30 minutes and after that the demo is expired? Or can I play it over and over for 30 minutes max?

whats up with the vram "warning"?

7621CF2870C4DA6543E66783716B68E0EB31DF9C

On default it set the vram to 0.25gb (low) and it still gave a red warning saying it would cause problems, whut?

I set it to high (2gb) and it seems to be running fine-ish at 60 on my 970 (I have 2 970s but its probably not using SLI)

maxed out almost anything except for texture (capped it at 6gb) and it was well over 100fps with no dips under 80fps. I saw some streams crash under DX12 but it went fine for me the whole time. Then again i have a beast rig.

9700k
16gb 3200DDR4
RTX208T0 TI GF Trio
Edit: Mind you im running on 1440p with Image quality at 200%. Using a 144htz Gsync monitor

You can keep playing the game over and over until you hit the 30 min limit. It does not include cutscenes to the timer and you can pause the game. Dieing or completing the demo restarts you to the beginning and rolls over whatever time you have left.

Earthbound
1070 Max-Q

Everything on max and 4K except rendering resolution @ 80%

Ran at a nice 35 to 45 fps

Didn't test it on my 1080 ti on the desktop, probably easily does 4K60 there.

Love the settings how it describes what settings affect what usage, such an excellent PC version.

Only one time 30 minutes and you're done

The timer does not advance when you pause the game and you can skip cutscenes to save time

Apparently freezing the address with CE is not good enough but values can be modified, somebody is preparing a cheat table and not long after a trainer should pop up, just sayin' in case anybody doesnt want to have to do multiple accounts.

Edit: Smart move with the achivements Capcom, I really wasn't expecting that, kudos to the one that came up with that.

If that's accurate, then resetting the timer is just a matter of relocking the achievements with Steam Achievement Manager.

Where are you seeing that someone is making a CE table? I am wondering if it's even worth me starting the demo or just waiting? If I wait in the main area will it count the time down?

Running 60fps on Performance Priority setting ( manual changes : Lens Flare On, Amb. Occ. : SSAO, Mesh Detail : Medium ) on my ancient i5 4670K + 760 GTX 2GB.
To be fair it looks pretty good but more importantly… it is just I wanted it to be... Kudos to Capcom

Alright my crappy laptop specs:

i5 5200u 2.7GHz
GeForce 840m
8GB DDR3 RAM

Runs smoothly at 30FPS at my native resolution of 768p with mix of Medium/High settings with Shadows being Low, Anti-Aliasing set at FXAA+TAA and post-processing stuff off except motion blur.

Overall, excellent port. RE Engine is amazing.

4k60 is no problem on a 2080 Ti maxed out. Does like 70% utilization. TAA is pretty blurry, you can get a sharper image with SMAA but then the aliasing comes out.

Here is the 1 usable pic I took after I turned HDR off after realizing that Nvidia Experience or whatever still can't handle HDR.

I wish the Mouse Sensitivity slider had a lower range. Even with both sliders all the way to the left, the ADS sens still feels way too high. I use 1600dpi for fast desktop browsing, but always set a very low in-game sens for fine aim and this RE2 demo is the first game I've run into where I can't set the sensitivity low enough without just dropping the DPI to 800.

As expected game runs flawlessly on my 980ti/6700k everything set to max at 1080p with dx12 enabled despite it warning me of the vram settings being over double my 6gb card. get a variable framerate between 60+ to 100+ which my gsync monitor easily smooths out. Expect even better performance once the official nvidia drivers roll out.

It's detecting your integrated graphics card on your CPU, go to device manager and turn it off.

Was waiting for someone with a 980ti to chime in. Is there any easy way for you to check 1440p performance? (in game resolution scaling sliders or something like that). If it's a hassle, no worries.

I've beaten the demo on the 3 systems (X and Pro) and I'm almost sure it uses some sort of temporal reconstruction technique. On the same 1440p monitor it looked so much cleaner on PC than the X version, it was a stark difference.
