Wow .. the DX 12 API has a huge negative impact on performance ...

PC: i5 7300HQ, 1060 6GB Max Q, 16GB DDR4 RAM, demo installed on SSD.
Set textures to High 2GB, after tweaking my VRAM usage came around 4.5GB

- 1080p/60 achieved pretty comfortably with room to spare for 110 or 120% increase.
- Turning off CA has a positive effect on IQ, while not huge, but it's still there.
- Noticed some micro stuttering a few times even though in most cases avg frame rate was way north of 60. Guessing that's the textures being cached (?)
- Playing the game on anything but TAA or FXAA + TAA is really difficult because of how noisy everything gets.
- DX12 API *kills* the performance. On average in opening RPD hall I noticed a near 12, 15 FPS drop when using DX12 mode versus DX11.

I think I'll stick with my PC pre order, though having played them both, the PS4 Pro version certainly stands very nicely against the PC. For anyone with a computer that can't handle 1080p/60, the PS4 version should service incredibly well.

PC: i7 7700k, 2080ti, 32gb memory, 2tb SSD.

I was really impressed with the performance. Gaming on a 3440x1440p monitor (need to test out the 4k/hdr performance when the Lady isn't using the tv) and the game ran at a steady 60fps, with a slight dip in the library section. I pretty much went overkill with setting everything I could to max, to the point where things that need to be removed for 4k/60 I would have no problem with. Cannot wait for the real game now!

Really hate to hear that DX12 didn't work well for you. It ran fine on my system, but I am hoping that the Dev's are able to keep tweaking the game so that everyone can yield positive results.

Audio Engineer here. True Binaural audio is headphones only. Binaural literally means "2 ears". Its intended to simulate the phase correlation between audio hitting your two ears which helps give the impression of 3 dimensional sound.

Running it through speakers would be adding a whole other layer between the sound and your ears and would no longer give the 3 dimensional effect.
That is strange though that it's on by default when choosing 7.1 sound

yeah, DX12 is trash on my end. Also you better use rec.709 to get the right atmosphere since it's darker.

I have 6GB of vRAM but for some reason on the config page it says I have 0.13GB??? Any ideas as to why this could be happening?

I can confirm, DX11 works better for me on 1070. I now have 3440x1440 with rare minor drops.

Do AMD high end users here (Vega) notice performance decrease with DX12? If not it's just goes to show how trash Nvidia's async compute horse power is nothing is wrong with the API it's just the way Nvidia designed their cards below RTX series. If Vega performance is a ton better in DX11 the games DX12 is just trash. AMD is still the king of async compute.

The graphics engine is not bad but SMAA is pointless in the game and their other AA erode detail.

The game is not even using close to amount it lists in the GUI. Use GPUZ and log VRAM usage. On my 1080 Ti with textures on max with the stupid warning I tracked the VRAM usage and it tops out at 6GB

1080p/60 with mostly medium and high settings on i5 2500k @ 3.4 (not overclocked), radeon hd 7970 on driver 19.1.1, 16gb ddr3 ram.. had a few dips here and there in the mid 50's but overall it ran like a charm. my computer is like seven years old now. was sort of expecting to have to get this on my ps4 pro since I thought my comp would run it poorly, but it runs surprisingly well!

I don't, still have some strange stutter and framedips sometimes, maybe gameready drivers will help?
Here is my settings

Thanks! That looks roughly the same as where I ended up after a few minutes of fooling around in the main hall. I switched to dx12 though so maybe changing that back will give me a boost.

I have a 1070 8 GB. I pretty much maxed everything and the game says my current usage is 12 GB of VRAM. That can't possibly be true, because the game runs at a locked 60 fps @ 1080p for me.

I'm getting what seems to be a stable 4k/60 on my 2070. All I did was use SSAO instead of HBAO+, lower volumetric lighting to medium, and shadows to high. I'm using the 6gb high texture setting and left shadow cache on (not really sure what it does). Everything else is maxed out except I turned off motion blur and CA.

I'm quite happy considering I literally just received my 2070 this morning.

I'm really impressed with the default presets, they've been setup really well.

I've made a video here on the balanced preset which is what I'll be playing on to hit 144fps. It's time for a new CPU cooler though, I'm using a Kraken X31(single 120mm AIO) and it's just not enough at these frames rates.

I had to disable the sound because I'm on Discord with people who were talking a lot.

Can't really tell the difference between HBAO+ and SSAO in this game. The menu examples show a pretty clear difference, but in game it's different.

Also, I recommend that everyone try out the alternative color space option. The game looks a lot better on my TV with that on. The default (SRGB or whatever) looks washed out.

Edit: Rec. 709.

I played this on the lowest settings with a GTX 780 and a i5 CPU. Whenever I changed anything in the settings, the brightness would go all dark and I couldn't see a single thing. Seems to bug out.

That's funny because Rec. 709 and sRGB are the exact same color gamut. I have no idea why it looks so much better at Rec. 709. It was the same for RE7 as well.

Thought my 3570k was going to cause more problems, running on recommended settings, bumped the texture quality up 1 extra and 70-80 in cutscenes, 100-120 in gameplay. 8GB RAM and RX 580. Might actually get this on PC instead of PS4 now.

Yeah now that I've played it myself. I noticed that too. I also noticed it does seem to do something even over a surround system, so maybe they are using the term differently than in the typical fashion.

On a separate note I ran the demo myself on my PC (Ryzen 2600 OC+RTX2080) at 2160p and I got a locked sixty with everything maxed out except for shadows at high and volumetric light at medium.

Game looks gorgeous. My only gripe is that some of the post effects involving the color correction stuff is making dark scenes have needlessly raised blacks.

Had a few good jumps on the demo. Can't wait to get my hands on the final version.

Well I just did a little test, my BIOS was 4 versions out of date so I upgraded that, and figured why not try stock as my temps are crazy playing this game and fuck me, the difference is massive. I've gone from 90c to 56c, and guess what? I'm still at 144fps, it hasn't made any noticable difference at all. So that just saved me £150+ in cooling.

Yeah, I noticed things were washed out so I switched it to Rec. 709 and it looks way better now.

I ran through pretty much every area in the demo in the span of 4 minutes and noticed almost no framerate drops. It seems like the demo saves time progression in 5 minute intervals, so if you alt+f4 before you hit 5 minutes the time resets back to the last 5 minute point you hit.

It looks SO much better than the demo on Ps4 Pro with my settings. I left FXAA/TAA on but it still looks sharp thanks to native 4k.

With everything maxed out except textures which are at the 6GB setting, the first couple of areas constantly run between 100-140fps.

Fuckin' noice. I'm not sure RE7 even runs that well.

Volumetric light seems to impact performance quite a bit. Running 9700k + 2080 and things got better once I turned it down - not that they were bad, but there were definitely fluctuations visible on a 144hz monitor. Overall looks good and I'm stoked for the 25th

9600k, 1070, 16gb 2666 at 1440p getting 85-100 fps using the 3gb texture option. game runs beautifully. got the bug where you inspect the computer though, after the cutscene everything just turns black. its been so long since ive played re2 that its basically a new game for me. cant wait to play through the full release.

5930k @ 4.3GHz, rtx 2080ti, got a nice long hdmi cable and plugged my rig into my LG E7 OLED and got my settings tuned (everything maxed except texture quality set at 3GB and the volumetric lighting setting at medium) and 4k, ran at a solid 60fps I'd say 90% of the time. I was initially getting the whole black level issue where everything outside the flash light's range was still easily visible, but i just ended up having to turn down my tv brightness 5 points and it was perfect.

This will be the first game I play from start to finish this way; main PC rig plugged into TV. I usually go for 1440p 144hz, but I thought this would be the perfect excuse to put my OLED to work with some amazing color quality and black levels.

5820k @ 4.4ghz, 2080ti oc @ 2010mhz 32gb ram ssd

Ran perfectly at 4k/60fps, had riva up and didn't notice one drop from 60fps. Forgot to turn off vsync to see what it ran at non capped but gpu usage was mostly at like 75%. All settings maxed and textures set to 8gb (I'm pretty sure their tally there is not at all correct)

HDR is a mess, hope they fix it but I'm not hopeful. I did notice that I think the calibration for it is totally incorrect. It makes it way too bright, if you turn it down a lot darker than it tells you to then you get blacks instead of greys. Might be something that can be tinkered with to work properly?

1440p with everything at max settings on my 1070ti with 16 GBs of RAM and an i5 CPU was buttery smooth 60FPS the whole time. Outstanding.

whats up with the vram "warning"?

7621CF2870C4DA6543E66783716B68E0EB31DF9C

On default it set the vram to 0.25gb (low) and it still gave a red warning saying it would cause problems, whut?

I set it to high (2gb) and it seems to be running fine-ish at 60 on my 970 (I have 2 970s but its probably not using SLI)
It's detecting your integrated graphics card on your CPU, go to device manager and turn it off.
I disabled mine and now it's like the nvidia card doesn't exist? The display adapter is listed as 'microsoft basic display driver' in Windows, and if I try to open Nvidia Control Panel, it says 'Nvidia Display settings are not available. You are not currently attached to an NVIDIA GPU'

Help?

HDR not working for me, hopefully fixed by release. 1080ti struggling at 4K max, will have to decide what to cut, effects, resolution, maybe interlaced will do the job ;)

If I don't want to rush the demo is it safe to use the trainer or can my account be banned?

1080p/30 locked with almost everything set to high (shadows/volumetric lighting @ low). Super impressed with the performance. I could *probably* get 60, but 30 felt oddly smooth.

On Xbox One X the demo freezes for 3-5 seconds every 20 secs. Hope the full game is better...

Okay, just finished the demo (had couldn't do much after getting the shotgun as I only had 2 minutes left).

My specs: 7700k, 1080ti (OC), 16 GB DDR4, 1 TB SSD

I couldn't get a stable 60 fps in 4k so I opted to run at 80% (of 4k) resolution and had to lower mesh quality and shadow quality to high and volumetric lighting to medium to not dip below 60 fps. The game still looks absolutely phenomenal.

HDR works perfectly for me (Sony X900E 55-inch TV here). Just make sure the following settings are enabled:

1080p60 with pretty much everything on high.

There were some minor (loading?) hitches, but other than that the game peformes smoothly.
