There's an overall lack of polish from these screenshots... hopefully just bad compression but I wouldn't be surprised if RE3 ends up looking worse than RE2

It's still a different internal development team. The team behind RE3 is primarily comprised of those that worked on RE7, if I'm not mistaken.

Really? That is news to me, but it still a different team nonetheless. I'm sure they shared a lot though considering these games are obviously overlapping in development. Same engine. Lots of the same assets.

It is not owned by Capcom technically but they are backed by them. Dusk Golem said more on their twitter about this when it was revealed. Technically still independent
