Still behind and I missed the episode about Hermione's trial before the CW site pulled it, so just read a summary for it instead (up to and including yet ANOTHER long lost sibling, as well as whatever misdirection the show is plotting regarding the Jughead flashforwards). Skipped ahead to the next one before it expired today... I don't even know why I still watch this stupid show or continue to humor its insistence on having every new character introduced be corrupt, insane, or both.

Eh, I actually miss the over the top crazy, that's what I come to Riverdale for. This season has been pretty pedestrian except for the flash forwards which I am here for. Hope they ramp it up soon.

The most recent episode felt weirdly sedate? Cheerleading drama over a new coach, football players tempted to drugs to play through the pain, Betty upset over not printing an article in the paper. We've come down a long way from mummified corpses and Evel Kineval cult leaders. Hoping that that things ramp up soon at American Psycho Hogwarts and that this whole rum storyline goes full blown stupid now that Cheryl is involved.

Unrelated endorsement, Dare Me is a very good teen show. Great acting and boldly shot. It is as visually ambitious as this show used to be.

Just watched the last few episodes.

I just find the whole Kevin doing tickling videos hilarious. Also, 5K$ each time? Pretty sure they don't even make half of that in real porn.

Enjoyed the most recent episode. First new one since the latest episodes of Sabrina dropped which were intolerable. It's weird, making Sabrina more like Riverdale just made it too much.

Uh so i caught up with everything and did anyone else find the tickling stuff and video taping that asshole rich dude really fucked up?

Also the build up to the murder seems like even more of a fake out

I found the tickling plot weirdly out of place. It felt Aguirre-Sacasa really wanted to tell that story and couldn't figure out how to make it fit into Riverdale/Sabrina/Katy Keene and this was the closest he could come up with.

Yeah, at this point they've laid the groundwork so effectively for the swerve that anything other Jughead fakes his death to LEARN THEM A LESSON will be a surprise.

On the other hand, Katy Keene has the kind of breathless joy and optimism that Riverdale got to had will still having lavish colors and weird stuff. It's like Riverdale if Riverdale were medicated properly. Bad things still happen but everything isn't oppressively hopeless and there aren't endless conspiracies. YET.

Also still suggesting Dare Me to the thread. It's incredible.

Skeet Ulrich (FP) and Marisal Nichols (Hermione) are leaving the show, which is certainly a major quality loss.

This will certanly be the last season I watch, am beginning to feel what "hatewatching" means now.
It's not so stupid as it was last season which felt like "gay porn without the sex" but it's balancing closesly on that ledge...

They just left it for now but now that frat boy has a bunch of videotapes of stuff so? But I bet they bet their audio is too stupid to make that connection.

They also dropped the plotline of Betty's brother having a gay relationship and plotting with the guy who pretended to be Betty's brother.

I stopped watching Riverdale midway through the episode with the school counselor in the current season.
The break was supposed to be temporary, but now that the episode backlog became quite long, I feel like I'm not coming back.
That said, skimming through this thread made me read the remaining episode summaries on wikipedia and I was in shock how chaotic it all feels. Good old Riverdale.

Oh yah I found it odd that the counselor just disappeared and hasn't been seen since.

Yeah the weirdest plot point to me is Charles is supposed to be a bad guy yet he's helping Betty? Unless maybe that his vendetta against her is so big he doesn't want someone else messing with her, or is just going for the long long con and will end up behind it all somehow.
Also everyone was acting way too casual about Jughead being dead. I mean I know he isn't really dead but everybody couldn't possibly be in on it. Give me some of that Fred Andrews grief from someone damn.

At this point Jughead is body shown on a slab dead and Skeet Ulrich is confirmed for not returning next season. I'm not discounting the possibility that they are actually killing Jughead. Riverdale feels like the kind of show where that kind of Vince Russo-esqe swerve is done to just teach the audience a lesson about guessing what is going to happen and maybe they feel they need a large change going into next season being post high school. Desperate Housewives was narrated for years by a dead character. Conceivably, Riverdale could do the same.

Also the 'In Treatment' bottle episode was the best work they've done all season.

Yeah, anything is possible, but if he's dead then the writing is really, really off and not just Riverdale off, because the characters seem like "Hmm oh Jughead is dead? Oh well!" Even a step further, "Whoa maybe Betty did it, no biggie!"
If truly dead I'm going to retcon the whole series in my mind to where no one really ever liked Jughead mostly cause of his hat.

I doubt they'll ever top the horror episode with the Greenvale reference. Rare display of Aguirro-Sacasa in top form. For a time he was on his A-Game with Sabrina. but S3's shows he's fallen off hard there, too.

He very clearly prioritizes his toys. Right now it is clear from quality of work that Katy Keene is his top priority, followed by Riverdale with the floundering Sabrina bringing up the rear.

About stonewall arc i think they gonna pull persona 5 twist right away. I think you guys know which plot twist im talking about. I always think why this plot seems pretty familiar, then i hit me hard it was pretty much similar to p5

Latest episode went full Riverdale and I wish there had been more Betty and Donna circling each other throughout the season. Brett is not the leader but the henchman was an OK reveal but not worth delaying the Betty and Donna dynamic which is dynamite.

Episode was kinda good, fairly good resolution to the mystery aside from the scenes that were clearly made just to screw with us, eg all stuff where it was just Archie - Veronica - Betty talking.

I really enjoyed the new episode. I feel Riverdale is the best when it is both peak ridiculous while being compelling. Definitely hit that note. I assume the rest of the season will be them pivoting to Riverdale's new normal for after they graduate from high school.

Well, it was good to not have Hiram be the main villain for this season. I like the character, but they leaned on him a little too much at times.
