Rotten Apples - website to search if a movie features someone accused of sexual misconduct

This is a tool meant to drive awareness of the pervasiveness of harassment in Hollywood (as if there was much doubt left). The name in question will also provide sources on the accusation, though I'm not sure how it might handle numerous accusations against a single person. Additionally, as a quote from the AV Club states, the database isn't entirely complete as there are a number of missing names still left to be added.

The concept is great, and the simplistic design presents it as the useful utility that the creator intends it to be, but Rotten Apples still has a number of inaccuracies at this point. Searching for Baby Driver will bring up Kevin Spacey, searching for Kill Bill will give you Harvey Weinstein, and searching for Home Alone 2 will give you Donald Trump, but Supergirl won’t give you Andrew Kreisberg, Disney’s Hercules doesn’t come up for James Woods (though Brett Ratner’s live-action movie does), and Loud House won’t bring up creator Chris Savino.
Users can request changes or corrections, and this really is just getting going.

Semi joking but, presuming it does, is probably a safe bet at this point. Hollywood could do with their own reset era.

Fantastic idea, this should however also extend to general shitty practices like poor working conditions on films like Sausage Party and other major issues a production might have outside of shitty actors.

There are hundreds of good people who work on most of these films. This site is stupid.

This is the dumbest idea I’ve ever seen! So now there’s a chance that syndication royalties for people who need them will be impacted by an asshole who doesn’t even give a shit how much he makes on that movie? What the fuck is wrong with people?

It's looking at top level people who will profit from the film's success disproportionately like execs and big name actors. People working on salary working on set are still going to get paid for their work whether the film takes off or not.

Saving Private Ryan - Failed
Toy Story - Failed
Captain Phillips - Failed
Catch Me If You Can - Failed

Hanks is surprisingly clean for a dude that's worked so widely as he has.

What production assistant or camera operator or costume designer is getting royalties? These people work on salary - their compensation is long over.

Disrespectful site, ton of ordinary people work on these. Why paint something with such a big brush

What a stupid idea.

Lets screw over all the hard working people who made these films because one person was a scumbag.
No, but non famous actors do. This is not difficult concept to grasp. This puritan era aproach to very real problem is all kinds of fucked up.
Well, we should probably just let Harvey off the hook then. He's brought a lot of movies to market and those employees benefit from the productions being made. Why screw all these hardworking people just because of a couple of women, right? You think we should just let this one go?

Lol. This site certainly has no clue what the current royalty payouts are for everybody involved in the film.

That being said, I actually don’t mind the idea. That it lists the known People is good rather than just a general pass/fail. People can use their own judgement whether the amount and responsibilities of the people involved should result in you avoiding the film. Though the related links aren’t really enough information. It should be clearer if people are alleged, convicted, number of people making claims, etc. you shouldn’t avoid something cause one person makes a claim and that leads to no charges...well I wouldn’t, but again the context is important for people to make their own decisions.

How about focus the blame on the perpetrators? On the harassers, on the assaulters, on the rapists. Nobody blames a production crew. Because especially in a case where the person accused is front and center, they've now tainted every single scene they had their hands in.

Take it easy. From the website in question:

By no means is this site meant to serve as a condemnation of an entire project, but to shine a light on the few individuals who might be held accountable for their alleged actions.

Reducing allegation of sexual assault to a fresh/rotten system is tactless and kinda gross. It'd start on a better foot if they merely listed cast and crew with accusations against them rather than taking this glib approach.

What are you talking about? You are lumping like million unrelated things together. Are "approved" movies OK then? I mean statistically even on "approved" movies there's a chance that a criminal was involved in production. Are we going to get police to approve every movie to ensure that murderer or rapist was not involved? This is insanity.

Take it easy. From the website in question:
The site can proclaim to be as noble as it wants, everyone knows that this site is implicitly tarnishing works of art that hundreds or thousands of people worked on because one person might have been a scumbag. Whether you agree with such a hardline stance or not--whether you're the sort of person who wants the entire company of Sirius XM to crumble becasue they employ one person you disagree with--is up to you, but don't act like that's not what they're encouraging.

Look, to me this seems like a good tool for people who don't want to implicitly support abusers. I honestly don't see a problem with it.
Just because the movie was approved it does not mean you are not supporting abuser. just because someone famous is confirmed abuser it does not mean that "approved" movie does not have any abusers or even criminals. It's all sorts of ways wrong and I'm shocked that this is not illegal.

This is not a call for police involvement, guy...

Conflicted about this. Is it listing people confirmed to have done shit by multiple sources, or can someone like me just accuse someone and it gets listed?
