I haven't played since like 4.6 came out (probably even earlier) so I can't tell you, sorry. Is there any benefit to 9.9 over the version 10 beta?
Started Bloodlines last night and already loving it. The dialog's so endearingly campy and the mechanics seem neat. Pen and paper adaptations like this are something that I wish we got more of today.
I have never played as a Malkavian in Vampire so I'm super excited to start as one.
Such an amazing concept, more games should do that
On hold due to hacker hiatus. The PS1 version is solid, though. Not sure if you even visit this thread, cj_iwakura, but how's the Eternal Punishment PSP translation patch coming along?
I feel like I could finally REALLY really try to get into IS knowing I don't have to go back to the PS1 version of EP if IS finally clicks.
The PS4 version is the best version of the game, it runs extremely well. From what we've seen of the Switch version, it looks visually similar to the PS4 version but at 30 FPS rather than 60. If portability is important to you I'm sure the Switch version will be plenty playable, but if you care about getting an uncompromised experience then play on PS4.I tend to fall into the camp of "I really want to like JRPGs", but I always seem to burn our before finishing one. We touched on this a few pages back where someone suggested I try Ys VIII. While I still haven't tried Ys VIII, I am about to wrap up Dragon Quest I (SNES) and I just downloaded Ys I & II Chronicles (PSP by way of PSVita). Ys I will be a bit of a "bed time/hanging out with my spouse" game, so that leaves time for another, larger game.
I really appreciate the advice.
- Do you think I should wait for Ys VIII on the Switch, or go for the PS4 version now? The PC version seems to be too buggy to play.
- Wait for the latest Dragon Quest?
- Tackle another JRPG?
I'm unsure what you mean by this exactly. Are you asking if you should keep playing DQ or wait for DQXI to avoid burnout?

Ys 1 is great. Ys VIII is great.

I get wanting to avoid burnout, but I think you could probably get a couple DQ games in before XI if you want to.
If you choose to do so, seeing as you started with DQI, I'd suggest just continuing in release order through the original trilogy. DQII turns some people off; if that happens to you, just move on to DQIII. TBC, I like DQII myself.
DQI to III get progressively longer but all remain under 20 hours.
DQIV and V also keep to a relatively short length and should take around 20 hours, maybe 25. V is somewhat longer than IV. DQIII, IV, and V are the pinnacle of the series for a lot of folk. DQIV is my personal favorite, with V a close second.
It is when you get to DQVI that they start to get longer and especially DQVII and DQVIII.
But yeah, I'd think you could maybe get to a couple more before XI, interspersed with other games? Maybe get through the original trilogy? Maybe play IV or V (instead or in addition)?
It depends, but unlike Souls or Bloodborne, where the difficulty is static, you can choose from a variety of difficulty settings in Ys VIII. Inferno is probably more difficult than a Souls game, but Easy and Normal are much, much less challenging than a Souls game. Ys VIII is also not nearly as punishing as those titles, you can retry from a boss fight with all your consumable items and you can save anywhere at any time.I really appreciate the detailed synopsis. How's the difficulty level compared to something like Dark Souls or Bloodborne? I've played and beaten both of those titles, but I'm not in a place where that level of difficulty is appealing right now.
I will finish DQ I for sure. I was asking about waiting for DQ XI. I also appreciate this advice. It's nice to know when a game is skippable in a series as long running as DQ.
We have a confirmation of an English release for Scarlet Grace, although not much else.

Does such a thing even exist outside of Stranger of Sword City? (which isn't on sale AFAIK). Legit question because I'd like to know too lol.Are any of the Vita dungeon crawlers in this sale not perv games?
I am one of the two people that already own that game. ;)Well, Elminage Original is playable on Vita, and it's very straight forward.
Worth playing? Yea definitely. I put a decent chunk of time into it and its a fun, polished, traditional JRPG with a lot of neat touches and a great artstyle/soundtrack. Just make sure a traditional JRPG like that is what you're in the mood for though.Hey all, I'm trying to decide if BoFIII is worth playing
It's on sale in the EU atm and I'm debating playing it on Vita
Would you say the game is worth playing?
Depends on how much time you have to play. It's a pretty long game (took me over 80 hours).
