I feel like there's no way this won't be riddled with micro transactions/lootboxes, accompanied by a $60 pricetag. We know how Blizzard monetizes nowadays.

I hope the remaster for Diablo II still looks like Diablo II and not like their more recent chunky, less atmospheric games.

Regardless, Blizzard has a lot of other work to do before I can give a shit about Diablo again.

Man, Diablo 3 was my first attempt at a Blizzard game. Checked it out earlier this year after nabbing the Switch version for like seventeen bucks during Black Friday 2018. I tried to like it but the core loop and the dreadful dialogue were not my cup of tea.

Happy for fans of the series, though -- despite my knowing that even if I were a Blizzard fan I don't think I could in good conscience purchase their stuff right now. I don't really harbor any ill will toward folks who will feel otherwise.

Who could possibly care about diablo at this point? Fuck blizzard and fuck their apologists. Free Hong Kong.
I still do. Diablo 1 is what got me into PC gaming, and overall had a huge impact on my life back then. I look forward to hearing about Diablo 4, but they're gonna have to do a much better job than they did with Diablo 3 for me to keep caring.

Would have been more excited by this news a month ago. Now? Oh well...

I'm interested in both but it'll have to come with one hell of an apology and about face. I'll absolutely not buy them, and I'll just hate Blizzard even more for taking something I once liked and using it as a soft-power tool to cover up genocide.

If the D2 thing is in fact true, I'll be very interested in seeing how they approach it. D2 is built in a very specific way, and doing anyting other than an art asset update would be difficult to do without causing unwanted changes. I remember David Brevik going so far as to say it couldn't be done with out completely changing the game.

I'd bet it's likely do to the pseudo-3D effect they added. I believe the game was intended to simply be 2D, but then they added the 3D perspective to it while sticking with 2D art and sprites. I remember when Diablo 2 came out that people thought the graphics were behind the times, especially when 640x480 was the only resolution. The game had atmosphere, but it was pretty ugly even for that time.

I can’t wait for Diablo, gonna be hyped for Blizzcon!
I like self respect more than video games. I can always play one of the dozen other better Action RPGs instead.

I'm curious whether it'll still be the traditional isometric angle or if they'll try to push third person for casuals.

So what have you done to free Hong Kong besides posting on an internet forum?

You saying Free Hong Kong or not buying Diablo will not free Hong Kong.
You’re right. Nothing short of going over there and overthrowing the Chinese government myself will free Hong Kong. I guess I should do nothing? I guess I might as well not care who gets my money if I can’t do that.

Have you gotten rid of all the Chinese products in your house or are you only willing to give up Blizzard games?

I will buy both of these. It being Blizzard, there is a good chance these are both two of the greatest games of all time. I will stream them. I will sing their praises. I will become the greatest Diablo player in the world. And then once I have amassed the largest following I will declare FREE HONG KONG. That is how you rise up and make change. Not by hoarding your money. Pre-order Diablo 4 today and become the change you want to see in the world.

I still haven't forgiven them for implementing a RMAH that fucked up drop rates. When they got rid of it, I started getting a legendary after every hour or 2 of play rather than every 60 hours.

Edit:

-- Also, let's get rid of the Saturday morning cartoon vibes
-- And no hyper focus on stats. I hated getting a gold with maybe +6 more intelligence than my previous weapon because who cares? I want unique weapons with effects like tripling my fireballs or reflecting damage or whatnot.

The odd part there is that Legendaries during the RMAH era were pretty bad; well-rolled Rares were king.

In RoS, the Legendary rate was better but not great; then they doubled it for a weekend event and since everyone loved it, it stayed.

Then came the Torment levels.

After D3 I find it hard to care unless they scrap everything from it and reevaluate everything.
Them touching up D2 again doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence either.

And the current situation certainly doesn't help.

The absolute garbage I sold on the RMAH during the first week of launch paid for my game and then some.

Then I guess your "self respect" isn't as high as you make it out to be.

Either way, I will be buying and playing Diablo 4. I had a ton of fun with 2, 3 was ok and I look forward to see what they do with 4.
I don’t understand your posting in this thread. You have previously stated elsewhere that you aren’t boycotting anything but then you come here and check others to see if they pass some arbitrary protest checklist.

If you don’t care what happens in Hong Kong, that’s fine. Not everyone has the energy to do so or do anything further than just raising awareness.

But don’t come in here acting like you’re some champion of protesting and that it is an all or nothing exercise. You’re arguing in bad faith it just makes you look ignorant.

How the hell do you remaster something like diablo 2 without completely ruining the art-style/atmosphere?

How much did you post or care about HK before the Hearthstone player was banned? Now that you are all fired up you see fit to judge others now?
You have to be involved in fixing a problem from the beginning or nothing? Every bit helps, late or not. China is a genocidal shitstain and companies like blizzard need to stand against them. So fuck them.

I do care about what is happening in Hong Kong. The state of our entire planet is horrible and if I could fix it I would.

I came to the thread to read about Diablo 2 remastered & Diablo 4 and this and every single other Blizzard thread right now is filled with people who think they are higher and mightier than anyone who is still playing or buying Blizzard games. If someone doesn't boycott Blizzard they are filth, have no morals and have no self respect according to some people here. I can't even read about Blizzard games without people posting over and over again Free Hong Kong and about how horrible Blizzard is, instead of just ignoring the thread.

I never acted like I was a "champion of protesting" but I do not understand putting down others for playing a Blizzard games but then continuing to use other companies products that are made in China.

Yeah in the vanilla D3 rares were better. I remember the legendary stats were bad in comparison. I think it was only fixed much later when they introduced Loot 2.0 (which also introduced smart drops).

No idea who were the ones actually buying items off the RMAH, but I think I made close to 200 USD before they scrapped it. Not a bad deal I guess.

Cuz you look like mindless consumers hot off Blizzard becoming an explicit actor of the CCP's censors. Get angry at blizzard for inserting themselves in the shitstorm where no one is going to let them forget what they've done.

I've been waiting for this announcement for over a year now. IMO this has been a worst kept secret since they botched the Diablo focus last year at Blizzcon with the Immortal reveal.
