Rumor: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Will Come Sooner Than We Think

Kinda Funny's Imran Khan spoke about Spider-Man 2 in their latest podcast. "I know too much about Spider-Man 2, so I can't speculate too much. I think a Spider-Man 2 will come sooner than we think". Then he mentioned a holiday 2021 release window as a possibility.

That's actually really believable given how much the first game is being used to promote the PS5.

IE;The Load times demo with Marvel New York from the first game.

EDIT : That, just in the Span of a year alone, Spider-Man PS4 is already one of Sony's biggest first party exclusives in history, and Spidey's kinda in a renaissance of content in other media as well.

Most people would expect it by then, maybe first quarter '22 at the latest.
It'll be interesting how much they modify the open world formula. It was VERY old fashioned to the point where it would have been much more criticized had it come from more veteran open world devs. Don't know if a sequel gets a pass in that area if they change too little.

I definitely can see this. Insomniac have always been pretty damn efficient, and they obviously have a good foundation in place. My biggest hope is that they make the world more interesting this time around. The open world elements (outside of the general awesomeness of web slinging) were a slog.

Insomniac has always been a very efficient developer.

Sunset Overdrive released Oct 2014, almost one year after the Xbox One. I can definitely see them getting Spider-Man 2 out one year into the PS5's life.
