They did exactly the same thing in MKX to advertise MK11 trailers, DLCs... etc. Announcement of their next game could be very close.

They're the biggest franchise after Smash Bros. They need to fear nothing.

But it makes sense that they would plan their own reveal anyway.

I imagine it was less a matter of fear and more a matter of courtesy to fellow fighting game devs. Or a reveal not being ready. Maybe both.

Or maybe a bigger showcase (sony or microsoft) is right around the corner. Boon also hinted at technical problems. Maybe warner forced them to switch engines, which slowed everything down.

Ed said a while back that he wanted to give SF6 some time to shine first, so maybe that's why they're waiting to reveal MK12. Tekken 8 probably won't be out until 2024, so NRS is good on that front.

Might have a co-promotion with Xbox to be included in whatever they do.
