I "cheaped out" on a GPU for my build this year and went with a 1660ti over any of the 2xxx cards, in anticipation of this.

If the jump is substantial enough, I'm in.

Looks like these will be coming sooner than later.
Might have to ditch my 1080ti while I can get ~350+ for it. I can play plenty of my backlog with a 970.

I really hope the 3080 is 800€ and not 1000€
Yeah I hope the 3080 is 500€ and 3070 350€
Just like that shit is supposed to be. 3080TI should be 800€

3080Ti will be released later. So you sold your old card to early.

I'm curious, let's say the new consoles launch at $500. Would I be able to purchase a $500 gpu and except it to perform as well as the consoles for the entirety of the generation?

I know that question has a ton of "what if's" but was that case when the ps4/x1 launches? And even the 360/ps3?

The GTX 780 came out alongside the PS4 and XBO for $499, in May 2013. It would definitely still beat the base consoles at console equivalent settings (resolution/FPS) and beyond now, too. So I'd say yes.

Depends if you'll be happy only matching the consoles toward the second half of the gen, though. A lot of PC players aren't satisfied with matching a 30fps console game with 30fps on PC. GTX 780 can't necessarily get 60fps on all 30fps PS4 games at 1080p.

So does this mean the regular model with have 10Gb while there will be some kind of premium option with the 20GB?

I think the 780ti was the peak card when ps4 launched. It was 700 so take away 15-20% from these benchmarks and you would have your answer

NVIDIA GTX 780 Ti in 2019: Benchmarks vs. RTX 2060, 2080, Vega, & More

We recently revisited the AMD R9 290X from October of 2013, and now it’s time to look back at the GTX 780 Ti from November of 2013. The 780 Ti shipped for $700 MSRP and landed as NVIDIA’s flagship against AMD’s freshly-launched flagship. It was a different era: Memory capacity was limited to 3GB...

Already got my 1080 Ti on OfferUp for $450. People hit me up right away with interest (and of course lowball offers).

Also, out of curiosity: since some of you are saying that these naming conventions are bad, what would you name them?

They always were lol.

The 'Super' stuff lately definitely isn't great though lol

I'm in the know so it doesn't bother me that much, but I can just imagine somebody trying to figure out the naming conventions across components and brands for the first time and just giving up entirely.

5700XT vs 2070 SUPER vs 2070Ti vs 2070 vs 2060 KO vs 1660Ti vs 3700x vs 3600 vs 2700 vs 9900k vs 8700k !!?!??!?

These companies desperately need a Steve Jobs.

I dont believe these rumors. Every cycle (just like consoles and phones) there are always these over inflated rumors about spec and benchmarks. 20GB? I dunno man

Gonna be on #TeamFalse on this one. The specs read like fanfiction, and 20Gb RAM on a gaming tier GPU is ludicrous overkill.

This will be such an expensive year for me. A completely new PC, a 4k TV, Valve Index, retro gaming in general and maybe a new monitor.

Fuck me.

Oh god. I hope it's decently priced. I'm really looking forward to upgrading my 1070 for Cyberpunk.

Just all depends on price, I refuse to pay more than $800 for a top end card. Theres no reason for the 2080ti to be $1,000 besides no competition and why its the first time ive skipped an Nvidia generation since my gtx 280. Hell even $800 is to much.

it won't be less than probably

500$ 3060 will be the new 2070 super

700$ for the 3070 the new 2080 super

1200$ for the 3080 the new 2080ti

1600$ for the 3080ti the only real new card tier

1080TI from 2017 has 11Gb, so 20Gb in 2020 doesn't sound too much and might be enough to meet amounts what the next gen consoles have.

Gonna try to hold out for *one* more gen. But DAMN this sounds tempting.

*Pets my 1070*

1080 here with a 6700k. 30xx is likely their first 7nm card so hopefully 40xx is a cost reduction (at least for some of the range). So I'll hold out too. But at this point I'l probably need a full from scratch build as everything except my drives will need replacing pretty much.

Holding on until the 3070/3080 releases to upgrade my 5 year old desktop.

Don't worry 970, it's almost time to rest.

Not only did I purchase a 2080 one month before the Super lineup was announced... now this.

What the fuck, should I sell the 2080 now?
