Some good info here, if accurate:

https://www.relyonhorror.com/latest-news/rumor-new-resident-evil-8-details-leak-from-tester-event/

ENEMIES
The enemies within these areas are very pale, almost rotten skin, with tattoos on their foreheads and hands. Some with armor, but not like knight armor, that can also be shot off. They only speak of "normal" enemy types in this test, not of the "werewolf" like creatures we'd spoke on, and that was shown in the trailer.

They do speak in a distorted foreign language. Some carried daggers, swords, axes, and even spears. There are some without armed weapons. They jump and grab and bite similar to Resident Evil 3, and you can button-mash to take less damage. Some enemies will throw you to the ground instead of biting. The one with the sword has a special attack that can instantly behead Ethan. And according to the source, you'll recognize the move once you play the game.

PLAYTEST SEGMENT ENIVORONMENT
This part is rather interesting because it seems the segment they mention being tested seems to differ from the information from the other tests that seemed more like Ethan was in the village itself leading up to the castle, whereas this information takes place directly within.

Most rooms were bright but few bedrooms were dark. The segment was somewhere within the castle on a higher level and you needed to find a key to open a big door downstairs.

BOSS FIGHT
So here's where that information gets really interesting as the claim goes into details of a boss fight you get in the playtests. Now, this does line pretty close to watch we know of the first "witch" we spoke of from the other tests that can dissolve into insects and chases Ethan and has a distinctive laugh. They also give a name to the "Witch" and refer to her as Olga.

Once opening the door the lady in black named Olga appeared and released a swarm of insects. The player won't have to fight the insects unless she spots Ethan. She would laugh constantly whenever she spots him.

In this boss fight, players grabbed a torch to use fire to scare her insects off to get Olga exposed to shoot her. After a bit of shooting, she'll transform into this insect/spider-like creature with long spider legs and releasing more insects coming out from her insect-like bottom. Her human remains are still there, but naked and covered with black goo. After the defeat, she melted and some parts of skeletons covered in the goo remained and she dropped an item. She
also released all of her insects, to which the player will find and kill them to stop them from attacking you in certain rooms. After that, the demo ended.

WEAPONS
The playtest featured a handgun(probably the same one shown in the developer preview), a shotgun (possibly obtained from the old man in the trailer), and an unbreakable knife. It also appears the player can obtain temporary melee weapons like an axe that can be broken off with a few hits.

INVENTORY
According to our source, the inventory screen wasn't the same as the Special Message video, but similar (Resident Evil 4 concept with Resident Evil 7 UI design). The game paused when viewing the inventory like Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes. During the testing, there also wasn't currency added and the enemies didn't drop items. Instead, crates and vases were breakable to find items.

MYSTERIOUS OLD WOMAN
The old woman in robes that can be seen from the Resident Evil 8: Village reveal trailer was also mentioned by our source as being almost a merchant-like character in the game. As far as our source knows, she is not an enemy, but as our source described, "has many goods to sell and rumors to share". They also spoke briefly on seeing some concept art but didn't speak much on it.

MISC. RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE PLAYTEST INFORMATION
It seems during the playtest many things were still getting shifted around which matches rumors from those like AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem who say the game is still a work in progress with placeholders being used as the enemies had their dialogues added while Olga didn't have her audio added during the boss fight but the screaming and laughing, and players were told that those weren't her actual VA lines and are just placeholders.

After the test, participants filled out a survey and had a sensing session on their thoughts on Resident Evil Village followed by refreshments. The length of the playtest seemed to clock in around 30 minutes and testers were allowed at least two runs and it was played on Playstation 4 Pros.

Interestingly they also spoke about producer Peter Fabiano being in attendance at a specific test as he was reported as speaking about adding a new difficulty to triple the number of enemies in some areas saying, "let's call this difficulty "Unfair" ". Though our source says he wasn't sure how serious Peter was actually being and this part we're unsure of how true it is.

Another small claim was that the music starting at 1:30 is the music that plays during the encounter with the large enemy seen jumping off the roof in the Resident Evil 8: Village reveal trailer.

They also said to expect a new trailer in August with the new information from Capcom. According to them, the story will become more clear, another returning character will be revealed, and there will be "another twist".

Finally, they said a VR version of Resident Evil 8: Village will happen, but they won't make that announcement until Sony is ready.

Take with a grain of salt, but it seems reasonable to me.

The test being played on PS4 Pro is a twist.

The news of a new trailer sometime in August is nice too.

Holy shit, I read it as playset, and thought there was a RE Lego Village Playset.

Otherwise, roll on new info. Excited for the game.

I'm more interested to know if VR will come to PC this time.

Fwiw, when RE8 got announced somebody here had also claimed to have played it on a PS4 Pro. It seems like the game was crossgen at one point.

Wait? Isn't this game a next gen exclusive?

No, it is cross-gen, I am sure that was stated before though.

Yea the original rumor also mentioned vr version. I hope Sony is smart and hold a bunch of big AAA VR games like this and half life Alyx for psvr2 launch. I am expecting it fall2021/early2022.

No, I believe it is indeed next gen exclusive, but at some point in development it was intended as a cross gen title.

The game is actually next gen exclusive. Only PS5/Xbox and PC.

Weird, when I watched someone's (I just checked, it was Alex of Digital Foundry) review/analysis of the the PS5 showcase they mentioned it was cross-gen and I remember that I thought: Oh, I didn't know that. Maybe that's why some of the character models and some of the texturing, especially in that first scene in the hut, looked a little current gen. The castle interior and witches looked amazing though.
Now reading there is apparently/allegedly a PS4 Pro version felt like another confirmation. But I also just checked Google and there it says it is next gen only indeed.

Might have just had an old ps4 build and decided to use that. Weird they just wouldn't use a pc version

Yeah about the game running on PS4 Pro, Dusk Golem did say this was supposed to be a cross-gen title, but then the reveal trailer made it clear that it was going to be next-gen exclusive (with how it looked and with how it was possibly getting released later than expected). They probably didn't have the demo playable on a PS5 (or they weren't allowed to demo on a PS5 testkit) but still needed some input, so they probably tested on the next best thing they could (PS4 Pros)

Really hope the waiting on VR thing is because this will require PSVR2 and it is confirmed to be happening internally

God I hope VR isn't exclusive again, would be so lame that one of the best titles for VR in general was arbitrarily restricted from the platform that has the most VR consumers.

This game being next-gen this early is a big risk sales wise especially if they are releasing it in 2021.

It's a pretty dumb move from Capcom.

Sony is planning to sell 10 million PS5s before Q2 2021
it's not a major risk when most of the people that buy these games full price are the early adopters

Dunno if I'll play it in VR, tried RE7 and didn't end up well xD
But seeing how RE really delivers lately I'm sure I'll be playing it.

I wonder what Capsoms NDAs looks like considering how much is leaking from the playtests. I've done several playtests for DICE and always got a stern warning that EA has good lawyers.

I mean there usually is a draught in games at the start of a new generation. If the game is good and has great word of mouth then they might even attract many new fans looking for something to play on their new console.

Edit: Plus I am assuming that it'll have a PC release as well?

The game is multiplatform, it's coming to PC, XSX and PS5.

I believe one of our own already confirmed that there was a PS4 Pro playtest, with Dusk Golem clarifying that RE8 was planned for PS4/XB1 but was ultimately scrapped.

It was clearly cross gen with current gen versions being cancelled because they were holding the next gen ones back. It would probably do a lot more harm for Capcom to release subpar versions on current platforms - they've done a lot of work to rebuild their reputation this gen without sabotaging themselves with games that barely run.

Plus Resident Evil games tend to have very long legs. They should eventually sell more releasing a quality next gen game than if they release a compromised cross gen one.

10 million PS5 + X millions Xbox Series X consoles is STILL less than over 150 million (PS4 + Xbox One) and PS5/Xbox Series X.
Unless RE8 blows up big-time, it'll probably sell around 10 million tops (MHW, Capcom's biggest game ever, sold around 15.5 million units as of last March). No use in having the PS4/XB1 holding back RE8 if Capcom wants to further maximize the potential of the next-gen systems, especially if said PS4/XB1 versions would have been sub-par ports anyway.

I'm excited for more info. I believe BiohazardCast said that even more leaks are coming this week. I'm wondering if we get a new trailer with the remote State Of Play next week, or if we wait until Gamescom on 8/27. Tbh, I will probably let the release date decide when I get a PS5.
