Navi 10 providing Vega 64/GTX 1080 level of performance for $249 is pretty sweet and it'll probably be the GPU used in PS5. Maybe.

That 3600x is mine. My sister will enjoy the handmedown 2600x.

edit: On retrospect, it might be worth it to spend the extra $100 for the 3700x.

"Ryzen 5 3600 - 8C/16T - Base Clock 3.6 - Boost Clock 4.4 - TDP 65W - $179"

*blinks* you mean to tell me a standard ryzen cpu would hit the required TDP for a console without modification?

What's the rumoured release window for these? Itching for a new pc in the next few months and wondering if I should wait..

If true Intel is going to be seriously rocked.

They'll maybe drop I9 prices by $20 or maybe not flinch at all knowing Intel. Either way, incoming scummy marketing tactics from Intel when this launches.

If this is true this is gonna be the true disruption to the CPU market.

I believe Q1 2019 but don't quote me on that.

I've reading April 2019 being thrown around, but could fall to Q3 2019.

Holy damn. If this is true I might pull the trigger on a 3600.

Sounds pretty good. This is "Zen 2" correct, with Zen+ being the 2xxx series?

What does one do with all that power? I guess you'd be able to stream, record and play at the same time if you're into that stuff. These days streamers have a 2-PC setup for streaming and gaming.

Streaming/Gaming, but also that's just useful as a budget workstation for editing or any task that requires a lot of parallelism.

Nah they will get Navi 3060 for sure. They will not fit a 150w tdp gpu on a console.

At best 3070.

Navi 3060 probably 8 tflops(ps5)
3070 10 tflops
3080 12 tflops(scarlet)

My estimates.

These prices seem too good to be true.

Yet I hope they are true.

And if they are true, hot damn.

Im shaking right now. I want so bad.

But what is with the naming on those GPUs? why is it named after the exact same thing Nvidia will name there cards next gen?

Welp, yep, this seems like a reason to make the generational CPU + motherboard + memory upgrade. I wonder if AMD will finally match or get close enough to intel CPUs when it comes to certain tasks like, for example, emulation; I've read intel is still superior(dunno how much exactly) in that area, for example.

I can see that Ryzen 5 3600 downclocked at 3.0GHz being next gen console CPU.
Has hyperthreading/SMT used in a console before? Even with 4 cores and 8 thread Ryzen can easily double the frame rate of current gen games, I guess they don't need 8 cores
A downclocked 3300 would have better yields and provide space for the GPU

Intel processors are better, but not by any huge margin. The real kicker is the GPU since AMD's OpenGL drivers on Windows suck ass.

Would have no problem with paying 500 for next gen if they had something similar to a 3600. That CPU leap would be gigantic.

Yes.
But i doubt they go with 4C.
Probabily going with 8C for BC.
Also they can disable SMT for games? Xbox One already have 3 OS, maybe they can disable for Game OS and enable for Dashboard OS.

That 150W TDP includes RAM and other stuff, so for PS5 that GPU would have a lower TDP. As for 8TF on 7nm, well that would be a joke for next gen consoles.

2018 was a terrible year to build a computer, but 2019 is looking pretty, pretttty good.

That 3300 for $99 is a killer deal if true. Hopefully this is similar to what we see in next-gen consoles.

Normally I'd say just get the fastest/most threads, but after having a bit more of a look either of the Ryzen 7s look like the best value - 12 cores/ 24 threads $329, an extra $170 to spend on the GPU - not insignificant if you're in the $500 GPU range.

If these are real - AMD is back.

And as an aside - its time for Apple to stop using Intel CPUs and put Ryzens in their iMacs - would help with software like Final Cut Pro, iMovie.

I have a question for anyone that knows: how likely is that console manufacturers can implements yet unannounced CPU like this into nextgen consoles 2 years before they come out?

In my head the specs for PS5 are locked down, am i completely wrong and can they change 1 year before release?
