I get where you're coming from, but for some of us....that's not a big deal or a bother in the slightest. That happens as a result of Sony and MS showing games way too early and hyping them for years. They both need to get away from that this generation.
I want to see gameplay when games are revealed, not cinematic concept hype trailers.

Yes, I'm aware. You seem to be missing the point.
MS owning the theater has literally nothing to do with whether or not they overshadow Sony. It's silly that you mentioned it.
ThisGreat news. Bring back PSX. One year in NA and one year in Europe. Back and forth every year.
Industry problem with publishers. Shout out to Ubisoft's pirate game
It's always 2 AM somewhere.
Nintendo is always at E3. They release a Direct and then run Treehouse Live from the E3 showfloor in addition to having an elaborate booth with all their upcoming games being showcased. Nintendo never left E3.Reposting my thoughts from the next gen thread:
To be honest the industry should be doing what Microsoft has been doing with E3, having its own event in another building while being at E3 in name only, same with EA and Nintendo.
There is no denying that the ESA is killing E3, from poorly managed events when they first opened to the public to doxxing every journalist that attended the event.
Guys i really don't want E3 to die off, it's a yearly tradition for gamers, it's Christmas in June for us, but dammit it is hard to defend it these days and the numbers don't lie.
With that being said if Sony announces today that they'll skip E3 in favour of their own event during E3 week similar to what Microsoft, EA and Nintendo are already doing (with a hopefully better time for EU fans) then i'll be perfectly fine with their decision.
I want the E3 name and tradition to live on without the ESA, i'm sure that everyone here can agree to that.

Do you really believe in the shit you type? What I'm saying is that having to share a weekend with your #1 competitor who has drawn just as much or more attention in previous E3s makes little sense.
Sony probably wants an entire news cycle to themselves. If they went to E3 they would have to share that with all the other E3 news.
🙃
I have heard less intriguing things about E3 2020 and proposed plans, so I am not surprised about Sony's decision.
Yeah that worked wonderfully last timeRemember,

The only thing Nintendo moved away from was a big press conference. They have been on the E3 show floor with elaborate booths every single year they've done a digital conference.Meh nintendo was right to start moving away from it all when they did
Good. Come E3 they can still put out a lengthy State of Play with trailers and launch info, without all the filler.

they absolutely have a deal with the ESA - you still need an E3 badge to get into the MS theater during then. it's still the show floor
But MS owning the theater has absolutely nothing to do with this lol....that's like an argument you would make in middle school or something.
Regarding the other point it's obviously much better for Sony to hold their own event, at their own time and control the narrative , message, and get all the attention. MS should (and will) do the same in the future.
I can't tell what comments in this thread are real and which are parody.
Methinks you say more than you know. The only thing Nintendo moved away from was a big press conference. They have been on the E3 show floor with elaborate booths every single year they've done a digital conference.
What Sony Is doing is different. They aren't having a conference with big news drops AND they are a no show all together on the show floor.
It's true Nintendo still attends E3, but they've also set themselves up nicely for a future where E3 doesn't exist. The only thing Nintendo moved away from was a big press conference. They have been on the E3 show floor with elaborate booths every single year they've done a digital conference.

I got a feeling this means that we need to wait way longer than February, for a PS5 reveal. 😞
Hi Proven, not sure if I read your post correctly but Sony hold there show at a completely different location. Not sure on the stream numbers.IIRC MS streams had better numbers both years, and MS also owns the theater. So it's not really laughable, it makes that Sony wants all the attention to themselves.
Sony's biggest market is also mostly asleep at that time.IIRC MS streams had better numbers both years, and MS also owns the theater. So it's not really laughable, it makes that Sony wants all the attention to themselves.

How? About Nintendo or Sony?
Them having an event for PS5 is exciting. Putting out something like a State of Play near E3 where MS will pretty much have a huge show along with Nintendo (which is the format they are copying) won't be the best idea imo. Their SoP's are executed so poorly, I really hope they re-work the format on those.Good. Come E3 they can still put out a lengthy State of Play with trailers and launch info, without all the filler.
