We will not talk about the launch content of Halo Infinite until we're ready. I haven't watched the video so if I am misinterpreting the headline as "'Halo Infinite is launching with/as a Halo Battle Royale mode" that is still not the case. You can probably make your own Battle Royale mode in Forge even right now though. It's a mode not a genre. And all the variants out there now are in my opinion quite radically different from my perspective. Apex vs Fortnite is chalk and cheese - one focuses on movement and map traversal and the other on building and budgeting. Like CTF. BTB Super Fiesta (for example) contains a lot of the shenanigans and emergent fun of that kind of large experience but big sandbox modes are not Battle Royale any more than Oddball is CTF. The launch modes for MP are not 100% defined and are subject to change till quite late in the process - but Battle Rifle will still be there. So you can have BR. But are we interested in big social modes with loads of organic shenanigans? Yes. Specifically A blimp full of survivors heading to an Island after a (metaphorical) lecture from Beat Takeshi? No.

We are NOT doing this as of now - and no plans to -- but Battle Royale could be made for any of the Halo games in MCC or 5 with some content and scripting additions, because it is a mode. It would have limits based on each engine. I'm pointing that out to be clear that it's one of the ways we think about gameplay possibilities rather than a single direction for a title.

Thanks for the response! Much appreciated.

Though if you guys are keeping count, I'm definitely a proponent of a Halo BR mode designed and implemented by you guys.

I have zero issue with that mode and play it myself on Apex and Fortnite but it just keeps coming up (probably for other games) and framed as a repositioning of the whole game instead of rulesets or premises.

And Frankie debunked it on this forum a couple weeks ago.
Link? ... Frankie may not be able to disclose such info but even if the figure is $300mill that is still a lot. I don't really know who to go with but Brad claims he has spoken to a number of people at MS who have confirmed that the figure is actually within that range.

Maybe I'll go with Frankie on this one.

It feels like BR should be a mode you just bake into Forge and let the community decide if they want it. Instead of you making a fully fleshed out and time consuming specialised mode. Just give us the tools and we will do the rest *slips a £10 note*

More players in one match than Halo 5 kinds of rulesets or premises?

I kinda want Forge to be a mini Halo Infinite SDK in this game tbh. Give the community some crazy shit to work with

BR is still the biggest genre right now, and it's continuing to grow, especially in Asia and the mobile space.

I was about to post this. I think the thing is there are more BR's out there now than ever, so the player base has a lot of options. If one game dips, another may rise, etc.

Just turn Warzone into a BR environment where it's a PvPvE setup where to get better weapons you have to take them from AI that are roaming the map.

Do this in a bigger ODST style level and that is a good new unique BR experience.

I would play the hell out of that. I just wish they would go back to 30fps so it still felt like Halo.

I can imagine a large map. 50 v 50
With an area that has to be conquered. The outer edges is where you land, you have to fight through the pve area to get to the PVP area.
.
Once you kill enough enemies a boss spawns, once they spawn and defeated you can enter the PvP zone (as a team) where you only have one life.

You can thank me later 343

Could be cool with the sandbox but I like stuff like Rush and Conquest more but open to anything new really, go nuts.

I do like the idea of survival but with AI roaming the lands and resources needed to be found to give you the best chance so you weigh up going on runs, exploring may trigger them to your presence and running into danger or holding the fort or invading other forts to steal their stuff or working together, even joint missions for bigger items and objectives with an over arching structure, story. I dunno but I kinda like the survival but with Halo tools and AI threat plus different squads on a unexplored world.

While using Forge or a Warzone map for BR would be cool, I personally hope we get something more grand than that. We'll see what happens tho. I would love to see 343 work with Certain Affinity and create a large scale map on a Halo ring.

Anyways I'm excited. I'm sure I'll play it either way lol.

BR mode is just a different rules set, FFA elimination on a big map. It has the potential to be a ton of fun and I wouldn't be opposed to Halo including a version of it.

I don't know why there's so much opposition to this. If it's one mode in what otherwise sounds like a major project, what's the problem?

Also there are numerous elements of Halo which make too much sense for it to never have a BR mode.
Because people like to spazz out for no good reason or something, sounds awesome to get an additioanal gameplay mode (that is all that BR is anyway) to the game.

I would much rather they try to start new trends instead of following other ones, even if it's a spin on BR. That and I think the BR mode would just be watered down: aim-assist out the ass, no weapon attachments or customizations, it would need lore-breaking equipment, and a focus on action over tactics.

I'd be happier if they took the Spartan vs Elites concept to a next level.

I could see them heavily expanding forge + custom games so you can create such a mode on your own. I think it's even possible in Halo 5 already, even though with less players obviously.

Warzone is sort of a BR already just make it limited lives and some other BR trappings and thats all it needs.

What if its a sort of horde mode with 4 teams and its last team standing. Start with simple weapons and pick up enemy weapons. So risk is rewarded when you kill a big enemy. It may kill you fast but if you kill it you are rewarded with a great gun wich can help you with other enemies.

So the only real distinction between the current sandbox and other BR games is scale (specifically the number of players).

I do expect that to be remedied in Infinite.

I don't think Halos budget is 500 or over. I could believe that it's sitting somewhere around 300-400 million after all is said and done including marketing. Brad says they want to launch this game on next gen systems as well.

My favorite moment in Halo was when they created TDM and CTF game types. Thank you for following your own path Halo.
Forge, Matchmaking, Friends Lists, Playlists, Theater Mode, Invasion, Firefight

Yes actually, Halo brought many of the modern necessities that we see in console FPS on a daily basis.

It could be like Warzone from Halo 5: Get points by killing players and AI and use the points to get weapons and better armor, even though these can still be found scattered around the map.

I'll welcome BR in Halo if its very different and unique.

To be fair what Halo brings on day one is kinda crazy. Not many games are close to it. But its always expected from Halo now because the older games did it. So if a new game does less it looks right away bad. Even its 10x better then any other game. I mean how many FPS games have Forge and a theatre.
