– the rumor that the game had been scrapped and development started over (several times) is wrong
– discussions about the logo design and if the game has an "8" in the title are useless at this point since things can still change a lot
– release is maybe in 1.5 – 2 years
– setting: Eastern Europe or an adjacent country to that area
– village & a snowy landscape
– castle, but it's smaller than the one from RE4
– medieval setting and enemy designs
– not actual werewolves, but wolf-like creatures
– one or more witches will be hunting Ethan
– even though it sounds like the Hookman from 3.5, it's something new
– zombies are wearing knight armor & wield swords
– more action-heavy than 7, closer to Not a Hero gameplay-wise
– director has been with Capcom for a while & didn't change/leave (correction from previous post)
– director was previously a behind the scenes executive producer who directed one game
– maybe you can find out who it is – Chris returns, but with a twist
– no spoilers here, but a hint in the video's outro (no German skills needed to understand it) "No, it can't be! Why you?!"

Biohazard Declassified has reported that they received an email with details of Resident Evil 8, they present it solely as a rumour and claim to hold no information themselves on RE8.

The email was received from an email address that is close to another person who correctly leaked some details of Project Resistance on GameFAQs 10 months ago, 6 months before Project Resistance was revealed. This doesn't necessarily mean they are the same person, however.

The details:

• Ethan will be returning as a playable character.
• Resident Evil 8 was tested last year.
• It will not be called Resident Evil 8, but will have a "clever title"
• The game will be in First-person like RE7.
• Gameplay starts in a village leading up to a castle.
• The environment will be rural, snowy, and mountainous; possibly Europe.
• Regular zombies will be appearing instead of the Molded from RE7.
• There is a persistent shadowy "female" enemy that will follow you but will dissipate if shot.
• There are also wolf-like creatures that will attack the player in certain areas.
• Chris Redfield will also be returning in some capacity.

Again, this is all a rumour, so potentially made up.

Feels like this is a smart choice. They captured a new audience of modern first person horror gamers (used to stuff like Outlast) with RE7. Meanwhile they are also doing ambitious third person remakes of the classics for those who want a more back-to-the-roots third person horror experience. A far cry from the days of you'd either enjoy their action-focused main titles or, at worse, settle for smaller games on portable consoles and such.

I hope they do something to make Ethan interesting then because he was so, so not. Resident Evil has so many cool characters and then there's Ethan.

I'm interested how the game will feel when they open it up to more outdoor settings since it sounds directly comparable to RE4.

RE7 is fantastic and I;m extremely pleased it isn't a one-and-done thing.

Also really pleased about zombies. I think RE7's gameplay crossed with RE2's approach to zombies could be terrifying.
