ubisoft-pass-premium-screenshot-1-768x432.jpg

Eagle-eyed fans of Ubisoft got a glimpse of something interesting on the Ubisoft store today, where a mysterious, out of stock item, titled Ubisoft Pass Premium, was listed on a category that doesn't otherwise exist.

For me this would be 100% worth it. Way better than EA's.

Ubisoft's output has been most of the time day one for me this gen.

I've been waiting for Ubisoft to do this, and honestly I think I'll bite if it's priced well. EA Access allows me to play Need For Speed, Battlefield, Battlefront, FIFA, Garden Warfare, Titanfall, etc. shortly after their respective chapters release for 25 Euros a year - I'd barely get one or two of the games at that price, so it's a no-brainer. Likewise, Ubisoft has tons of stuff I'm very interested in: this generation alone I played from them stuff like the Assassin's Creed games, all the Tom Clancy's titles, Steep, TrackMania Turbo and more. Many of their upcoming or recent games aren't things I'd spend 70 Euros on (The Division 2, the Wildlands sequel, Odyssey, etc.) but it's all stuff I would absolutely love to play. So yeah, if this is priced well I'll much certainly buy.

Cool. A bit late this gen but could be promising for next gen and save me a boatload of money of Ubi games I rarely play but impulse buy on sale.

Sounds like a great idea to be honest, Ubisoft has the most (and often some of the best) AAA titles around along with a healthy amount of indies, it'll easily be a more worthwhile service than EA Access.

I pretty much buy all there games day 1 already so maybe I can save some money if they do a subscription.

The big question for me when it comes to Ubisoft games: will this include all the DLC?
The big business for EA Access comes from selling DLC to all those games, so if Ubisoft has done their homework it will very likely not include DLC, unless this thing has tiers.

Ubisoft Pass Premium sounds like a better version of something called Ubisoft Pass, so I can see there being tiers. Ubisoft Pass for games, and a more expensive Ubisoft Pass Premium with DLC included too.

EA has 3rd party games, Ubisoft stopped selling 3rd party games long time ago. That is something that goes in favor of Origin Access.

EA Access on Xbox One does not have third parties, but then again the service only costs 25 a year. Ubi can definitely do the same: an aggressive pricing to keep people away from used copies.

I can only manage playing one or two Ubi games per year. I like them plenty but they're always so expansive and I need to take breaks playing them.

EA Access is still a better deal for me personally, but I'm still waiting for that mythical long break where I can really take the time to crack into as many games as possible.

They offer them on PC as far as I know. So situation on PC is different so they will need to be careful about pricing.

It all depends for me how day one releases are handled. Is it gonna be like Gamepass or is it gonna be like EA access.

Origin Access has 3rd party games and afaik Uplay is Ubisoft games only so eh, depends on pricing.

The most frustrating thing about this is that Ubisoft makes the kind of games that are best played on a big TV with a controller. But on PC their games are stuck in Uplay which does not have a Steam Big Picture style mode for TV play.

I would definitely pay that Valve 30% premium on top of the pass's price if it meant getting Steam versions of Ubisoft's games to play.

I'm guessing PC only? It would be great if they offer it for consoles too but they probably would lose more.

Interesting. Ubisoft games would lend themselves incredibly well to a subscription service with their long post-release support. Depending on the price and what's included, I might actually, for the first time ever, consider a service like this.

You're correct, I was pointing out that they do have a service without third parties: on console. And it's going well for them, as a lot of people who'd pick up their games used a year or so later swerve towards EA Access instead: cheaper, and you keep subbing because you don't want to lose what you're leasing. Ubi will do fine with this if the price is right.

First everyone had a store, soon everyone has a gamespass.

It been pretty clear for a while the subscriptions were the future or at least the future the big pubs wanted which made Epic's sudden push into the market with a very traditional store using exclusivity and limiting sellers to hold prices high even more puzzling. If Epic had launched as a sub service it would have been a far more potent option.

Uplay has the weirdest controller support of all the launchers, because it lets you press A to launch a game, B to dismiss popups and the Home button to open the overlay, but you can't navigate the menus, so it's useless without a mouse lol. It's super half-assed.

Oh I agree. They can't live in their own world thinking subscription fatigue from streaming services won't apply to sub fatigue to game services.
Man, I don't know why people let themselves get there. I usually just buy a single month when I want to watch or play something on a service I don't actively want to keep and that ends up being pretty good value for money.
