Pretty sure this is referring to free themes acquired from the Samsung theme store.Maybe for themes specifically designed for and compatible only with Touchwiz/Experience? Because this has not been true for as long as I've used Samsung phones (got an S4 in 2014).
It is, and why I said this isn't even really a problem for Samsung users, because the option to use custom launchers and themes still exists through other stores. This is a people-who-actually-use-the-Galaxy-Store problem.Pretty sure this is referring to free themes acquired from the Samsung theme store.
Oh my god!
If you can dream it you can achieve it.
This is officially my headcanon
Thanks for the link. Didn't know about this. They ditched Touchwiz back in 2016. Samsung Experience is the current UI and will be replaced with One UI when 9.0 drops.
The current UI is so much better then Touchwiz it's not even funny. It's usuable for one. I despised Touchwiz so much that I refused to buy a Samsung phone (as much as I wanted a Note for the S-pen).
I've never used a theme, what is the main reason people use them? I just have a wallpaper.
This affects visuals that can't be changed by the launcher like Nova Launcher.Seems like a non-issue to me. As far as I know, themes is just changing crap like Fonts and icons. You can easily use another launcher (like Nova Launcher) from the Play store or the various themes on the Play store. I never bother with this crap anyway, as the only thing important to me is changing stuff like backgrounds, ringtones/notifications, etc which this doesn't affect.
Yeah fuck extra screen space I want more bezzel lmao what?It could be worse, you could be using a phone with a notch.
Cool, now try answering the actual question.
I believe Nova launcher lets you change icons and many other aspects, but you are right with fonts, looks like paid fonts will be the only way in the future for Samsung phones other than a couple of lame freebies. It's a stupid decision overall by Samsung management, but I think the majority of people wont care as long as you can personalize the basic aspects of the phone without it going back to defaults in 14 days. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung even fails at that. This affects visuals that can't be changed by the launcher like Nova Launcher.
I'm sure the people over at XDA will have an easy way to deactivate the 14 day timer very quickly.Sucks for me. I use free themes often. I used Nova for years on all my other devices but there a few deal breakers Nova can't do that have me back on Samsung launcher...
I saw that yesterday and for some reason it didn't quite sink in until this thread...
I'll definitely keep an eye out and take a closer look at Swift Installer someone mentioned.I'm sure the people over at XDA will have an easy way to deactivate the 14 day timer very quickly.
Ok...? It's not like themes are super easy to make. It's pretty hard actually. Graphic artists put hard work into these making them look good. Nothing wrong with paying for themes you really like.I would never ever pay for a fucking theme. Ridiculous, but then again, I have an Iphone.
Does Apple even support custom themes yet, or do users still need to jailbreak their phones and sideload them?I would never ever pay for a fucking theme. Ridiculous, but then again, I have an Iphone.
Same. Came to post this. From there on, I'll refer to Android Pie as P OS.How much do the themes cost after the trial now?
Also, Android 9.0 P OS made me chuckle...
I just got a Galaxy A8 last week. Does this mean the free theme I applied will be reset to the default theme in January? 'cause I really like the theme I chose and fuck Samsung if that's what they're doing.

Not saying what Samsung is doing is good. It's pretty damn stupid in fact. Also not saying you have to buy anything either. It's just your reply rubbed me the wrong way.
Sure, I'm just saying that it's probably easy to pretend that paying $2 for someone's work is beneath you when the option to do that isn't available to you.Im not trying to make this an Iphone vs Samsung/Android thing at all. I would feel the same if Apple had/would go the same route regarding themes.

I agree with you that artist should be getting payed for their work of creating themes,, especially unofficial ones and Im not saying its easy to create themes. What I meant is, that these themes coming from Samsung are official ones right? If I pay 800-1000 dollars for a Samsung phone, I'd argue that a package of themes should be included.
LOL a notch fan. Yeah, nothing more enjoyable than the removal of screen real estate on top and the shrinking of video playback that occurs due to the new aspect ratio brought about by stretching the phone up without also making it wider.
The notch is extra space not less. It's fine. You obviously have issues with android vs iPhone if you think notch is some terrible thing. It's more screen real estate not less.LOL a notch fan.
