Hey, you want to keep calling him unqualified, be my guest. Did a whole lot of good for us last year.

This kind of "reporting" is shockingly irresponsible on the part of Joe Scarborough. I simply cannot imagine how many rules of journalistic ethics have been violated by it.

If a racist xenophobic egomaniac with a nuclear football is going through dementia, thats something the american public should know, don't you think?

The GOP is so fucking nuts, they would probably let him run again even if they had it confirmed. And we would still vote for him even though everything coming out of his mouth makes even less sense than before.

Agreed but when dealing with Trump I don't think it's unfair since he's accusing Joe of being a murderer.

They should know about it through properly vetted, investigative reporting where information is corroborated with multiple sources and fact-checked. That is the type of reporting that the American public -- as incompetent as a large portion of it may be -- deserves. They should not "know" about it through a fucking tweet based on the blathering of "Trump aides" who probably told it to Joe for "the lulz".

You are counting the end results of corpses from war, but Trumps policies on global aid, environment, foreign policy, etc will kill 100sx more people and he’s already enacted these policies and instilled global instability. His policies he is implemented and implementing as we speak will kill millions more than any Bush war could ever have. Yet you want to start counting corpses as the measure of destruction. Trump has done more to ensure millions will die than any president previous. Just the stance on aid to African countries and humanitarian aid will kill more than any war so far.
Receipts vs. predictions...

I will. And yeah, the propaganda of the far right/russian troll farms and bigotry is strong. Calling him unqualified didn't matter to his deplorables, their hatred for women and liberals mattered. Same reason they're going to elect a pedophile.

I don't think calling him qualified or not had much of an impact on that. Doesn't change anything.

I feel like people have just become used to Trump doing shit things now, so it no longer fazes them no matter what he does, but when somebody else does it, it's still fresh.

I will never get used to Trump. Never. Each and every unethical thing he does deserves the same amount of scrutiny (and perhaps outrage when warranted) as the last thing he did.

It may be fake news, but Joe's comments can be theorized factually, unlike Trump's comments which are almost always debunked before he even brings them up.

IMO - fuck it. Fight fire with fire.

Trump trashes everything critical of him, calling it all fake news.

Well, follow Steve Bannon's advice: Double-Down on the "Fake News", especially when Trump can't debunk it and when it might actually be real news. Real or not, force Trump to address it, aka, the Lyndon Johnson strategy. Plant the seed in his head and watch Trump further decimate himself with more outrageous tweets.

You don't need to have dementia to be an asshole or psychotic. Saying that Trump may not have dementia yet isn't supporting him, folks.

Yeah, but we're talking about an actual medical illness.
You will never get a doctor on record to state if he has an illness or not, there is a rule among the psychiatric community not to diagnose a public figure without having direct hands access to the person in question. Unless a call was made to require the president to get said analysis we will never have any integrity in actually diagnosing him which is why we can only get these second hand accounts.

Nah, it's pretty obvious and pathetic what they're trying to do.

None of his landmark changes have been able to pass congress. He hasn't started wars that will kill millions. Is easy to see how Trump is not even close to be worse than Bush.
The tax bill is about to pass and war with NK is a guarantee unless the 25th is invoked.

Trump's need to be correct, to deflect, displace, or project is typically associated with things like narcissism or Machiavellianism in which his inflated, but extremely fragile, ego drives his need to manipulate or act impulsively. His decision making is irrational and he is callous to its effects. This, in some terms, is usually referred to as "psychopathy in the work place." In regards to Trump's current position he falls more in line with a sociopath which, depending on where you look, can be interchanged with a psychopath. However, from a clinical standpoint, clinicians do not use the terms socio- or psychopath. It's typically referred to as antisocial behavior. Hence why I think Trump is a combination of narcissism and antisocial traits.

My mistake was interchanging psychopathy with psychosis.
Oh yeha none of us are clinical psychiatrists. Me neither.

But I don't think it's anything to do with dementia I don't think he's a sociopath either.

He's doesnt have a total psychosis. He's on the spectrtum, and between being a full on maniac there is the veneer of donald trump.

He thinks his building in DC is 10 stories higher than it actually is.
He thinks the Mueller investigation is going to end this year.

A lot of the stuff he projects as fact is in sheer conflict with reality. Even when explained to him, even presented with reality, he won't accept that reality. It's a psychosis.

Of course he is. We will rationalize it as eccentric behavior until he's walking around his pants around his ankles showing people his penis.

I don’t know how much news media people here consume on a daily basis, but I am unfortunately aware of everything Donald Trump does every day and how it’s reported in TV and print and the ramifications such actions have in the US and abroad.

It is clear to people that consume that much information that Trump’s mental state has deteriorated since he started his bid for the presidency. It is important to recognize the danger that this poses and people that aren’t aware need to be informed of this. Republicans are playing a dangerous game by refusing to act.

Because it's a federal crime that has no real upside?
federal crimes never stopped anyone before, i monitor hacking attempts on my network on a daily basis. there's plenty upside--if his medical records leaked and proved he had dementia, his ability to continue to be POTUS would come into question

Hey, looks pink to me is all I'm saying.
Matter doesn't even have a color. It just has reflectance characteristics. If you put a "white" object under green light then it will look as green as can be.
He looks about like what I'd expect a light purple (under white light) to look like under yellow-orange light.

Since when does Dementia turn people in to racist assholes?
Is anyone saying it does? These are not exclusive concepts. Both can apply here and be true.

That said, as far as my own feelings go, as a psychology major, I must say that it would be completely inappropriate to speculate about this type of thing, no matter how much I might hate a person (in fact, if anything, that's all the more reason to be guarded that I don't give into biases and say or act in a way different than I would anyone else). This type of thing can only be determined by testing and making guesses about this type of thing not only would violate all kinds of ethical codes by anyone actually qualified to make those kind of determinations, but is also really, really just tasteless and out of place, no matter much of a terrible person they might be and how much I might despise them. Either way, he's a piece of garbage and needs to go regardless.

If he does have dementia, that of course makes everything even worse and that much of a reason he needs to step down, but that's not for me to determine and I would never attempt to do that with anyone without the proper diagnostic procedures being completed by a qualified, trustworthy professional. To do otherwise would go against everything I learned at university. Of course, to be clear, everyone has their own opinions--that can't be helped, and is perfectly natural, and there is nothing wrong with that, and that applies to me as much as anyone else. I definitely have my own leanings on this subject. but I would never vocalize them because it's not ethical for me to do so and my opinion of the man remains the same regardless. Same with discussion about the possibilities that Trump not only has dementia but it's comorbid with NPD or any other personality disorder. Not my place to say, would be completely inappropriate to do so, and changes nothing regardles.

EDIT: And to be clear, I'm speaking for myself here, as a psych major. I'm not trying to shut down discussion. I know people are going to continue discussing this subject, just as they have been for over a year now, and they have every right to that, and I would never say otherwise. I'm only speaking for myself, as someone who's studied these subjects, and how that affects my stance (or rather, ability to take a stance on this).

I've been saying this for awhile, and not as an excuse.

Just watching old tapes of him justifies some level of doubt about his mental fitness.

Yes. He was always a dirt bag. But now he's a dirt bag with dementia and the nuclear football.

Unfortunately, I think it's wishful thinking and that he's actually a racist biggoted arsehole real estate magnate raised with a silver spoon in his mouth by a klansman. ☹.
There are lots of racists who don't lapse into incoherence every time they turn on social media. It would not surprise me at all to learn that Trump was mentally unwell (in addition to being a bigot, of course).
