I don't know what tone-deaf means in this regard? Is that supposed to be an apology. Just say you fucked up and you were wrong, won't happen again.
Anyway. It was trending this morning. Lock if old.
first thing I thought
lmao. Perfect.
There's a lot to criticize in this interview, but what's wrong with her usage of the word 'triggering'?
Yup.
It's a word used heavily by alt-right shitbags when talking down to "snowflakes."There's a lot to criticize in this interview, but what's wrong with her usage of the word 'triggering'?
(I mean, aside from the fact that she's missing the actual reason her supporting Woody Allen is bad.)
Oh, I know it can be used that way. But it's also used genuinely, and I'm pretty sure this is such an example. The alt-right typically accuses people of being "triggered"; describing something as serious as the Woody Allen situation as "triggering" makes perfect sense. It's a word used heavily by alt-right shitbags when talking down to "snowflakes."
The thing is that for as much as I think her statements here are idiotic this is one of the few times in modern pop culture where I think it's being used in a halfway-reasonable manner. Palling around with sex pests like Allen and acting like nothing is wrong is absolutely a trigger for people with rape and sexual assault traumas, because many people saw their own abusers being treated the same ways by others. It's a word used heavily by alt-right shitbags when talking down to "snowflakes."
Unless you think there are absolutely no defensible arguments whatsoever in favor of his innocence in the most egregious accusations against him, it’s hardly weird that his friends and coworkers would stand by him.Shoutout to her for admitting her trans comments were tone deaf.
She takes another L for supporting Woody Allen tho. You know who that man is. Stop fronting.
Prrrrrretty sure that's exactly what it means you fucking dolt. But just because I believe my friend does not mean that I don't support women, believe women.
listening to a few podcasts and stuff about actors talking about movies in general (not Allen specifically) I think theres a certain chunk of Hollywood actors who grew up watching Woody Allen movies and maybe got into acting because of them, and had a dream of working with him on a movie. I guess similar to Alfred Hitchcock, Kubrick, or modern era Christopher Nolan, Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, etc. So attacking him is not that much different, in their minds, to attacking their career aspirations and dreams. What the hell is it with Woody that makes people want to stick by him? I remember back in the 90's when Howard Stern would have Stuttering John go around and ask celebrities what they thought of Woody and OJ, and rarely ever would anyone say anything negative about either of them.
Lmao perfect
Doubtful.
Just because they use it through that context doesn't write off the word being used outside of that bubble, though. It's a word used heavily by alt-right shitbags when talking down to "snowflakes."
This.
You can just say "upsetting" or "alarming" or any other dozens of wordsOh, I know it can be used that way. But it's also used genuinely, and I'm pretty sure this is such an example. The alt-right typically accuses people of being "triggered"; describing something as serious as the Woody Allen situation as "triggering" makes perfect sense.
Agreed with this too. Of all the words she could go with, she went with triggering. Like...come on.You can just say "upsetting" or "alarming" or any other dozens of words
more a 1 to 1 ratio.
