Phew! Good weekends adventures! A mere 3 chests away from Level 10 Athena. I do hope Rare have new commendations/activities for Legends in general in the mega update.
Congrats! Does the grind get as bad as 45-50 was when you get to 8 or so?

In other news, they've obviously mentioned the shop and pets - I wonder what kind of cosmetics/items we'll be able to buy, and how many will be available? Hundreds? Really looking forward to the 20th for the announcement. Praying for a full release of SOONER rather than later still. I'd be happyish with May at the very latest.
I believe there'll be an update on the 20th, so I'd certainly try to get the Reapers mark one done before then if you can. But perhaps they'll leave it live, I honestly have no idea at all.
9-10 without double xp would be around 12 Devil's Roar Athena. We did about 13 this weekend and got half xp for I think four alliance ones. Was one hell of a grind but glad I can now sit back and do anything I want.
Until they reveal level 20! Athena or some such nonsense.
Hope there is more to the next the end game that another 10 levels of grind for some rarer cosmetics.
Confirmed ending on the 20th. Suggest finding a crew to speed run them. (leave 2 on island, other 2 at the riddle islands) Can get them done fast that way.
Stayed up until 6 am last night in an attempt to use double exp to it's limit for Legend before the 20th. Got to 50-45-45 which I think guarantees my Legend status since I almost have enough doubloons for 10 rep levels. Can't wait to take a big break after I get Legend cause I am burnt the hell out lol

On the stream he said something like "Half Five GMT the trailer goes out" They will have a website up sounds like. Not sure if we will be getting a livetream though.
Still can't believe it's been a year and that I have been playing this game consistently the entire time. Still love it. Looking forward to seeing how the next year goes!

Excited about the news tomorrow but I'm definitely gonna take a bit of a break now. Before the weekend I was 40-38-38, so you can imagine how much grinding I just did...
i burned out a few months ago, not sure if i would return. pretty sure i posted as much in this thread. picking the game up again though, with only a few changes (devils roar being obviously the biggest), and i was once again hooked by the loop. catching up on the bilge rat stuff has kept me busy and entertained. doubloons >>>> gold.
I found the launch grind agonizing even though I loved a lot about the the game. Made it to about 35/35/30 then took an extended break. When Atlas came out I was really excited about it but after watching some streams I just wanted to come back to Sea of Thieves. It just does what it does so well and has a lot of charm. So I came back and hit Legend within a few weeks have played constantly since and just hit Athena 10 this week. Absolutely love the game and everything Rare has added has made it better. Looking forward to tomorrow and year two.
Indeed. And I never would have been able to do it in time without doubloons, either. Before doubloons I was at 50-46-46. Just wanted to push it as far as I could to use as few doubloons as possible.

I'm not too fussed about hitting legend so I haven't suffered the grind, thankfully. I usually pop onto this game maybe two, three times a month, have a lengthy session with my friends, check out all the recent updates, and then come away again to play something else.
I enjoy it everytime, but I couldn't play it as a grinding loop as I think that would start to drive me crazy.

Man, I can't believe it's been a year of Sea of Thieves shenanigans already - I've had an absolute blast with this game, and it's fully cemented itself in my top 5 games of all time. Can't wait for them to lift the lid on everything that's coming this year.

I think the biggest compliment I can give it is that it feels like a Rare game. I can't imagine anyone else making a game like this, and I can't imagine any other game ever feeling like this: it's divisive, yes, but that's because it's bold in a way so many games are not.
Damn, 1 year. Time has gone fast with this game, all I can say that Sea Of Thieves is without a doubt my all time favorite gaming experience, there just isn't anything like this game.

i know this update is set to be absolutely massive but i hope they also announce the plan going forward and return to giving us mini expansions every few months like they were doing post launch.

Reaper's Mark Challenge – Looking for more of a challenge? Equip your Reaper's Mark flag before you set sail to warn rival crews of your presence. Pirates who complete the Reaper's Run of Shipwreck Bay with their Reaper's Mark raised high will unlock progress towards a Legendary Commendation (Legendary Reaper of Shipwreck Bay) and the title of The Shipwreck Reaper. Only for the most fearsome pirates!
Mercenary Voyages of The Devil's Roar and Shores of Plenty – Visit Duke to also find two new regional Mercenary Voyages on offer. Both voyages cost 5 Doubloons and direct pirates to a specific region of the sea to complete. Additionally, The Devil's Roar voyage offers significantly greater rewards!
The Gilded Mercenary Voyage of Legends – Pirate Legends should visit Duke to find the return of a popular voyage – the notorious 'Gilded Athena'. This voyage can only be taken once, so make it count, Legends!
Shipwreck Reaper Sails, Mercenary Eye of Reach and Blunderbuss – Visit Duke for his next set of time-limited cosmetics! As a reward for this mighty effort, all Legends will be gifted a range of items: the Golden Legendary Tankard, Golden Legendary Hurdy-Gurdy, Golden Legendary Blunderbuss, Golden Legendary Sails, Golden Legendary Hull and Golden Legendary Figurehead!
Players who reached Pirate Legend before March should already have access to their rewards when they log in on March 20th. For our newer Legends, we expect all rewards to be granted and available for players to use by March 22nd.
COMBAT BALANCING IMPROVEMENTS
Wielding Weapons – The forced firing delay has been removed when wielding a gun after sprinting or undocking, allowing players to fire sooner. The forced firing delay when switching weapons still remains to prevent fast switching and firing between guns.
Sword Switching – Players are now able to switch weapons/items at any point during a light sword attack. Players are still prevented from switching during a heavy sword attack.
UPDATES
Molten Sands Fortress – Molten Sands Fortress is now active! Face off against skeleton waves while dodging volcanic rocks and luring them onto geysers before raiding the vault for Ashen Rewards!
Mercenary Cosmetics Bundle – The previously exclusive Mercenary cosmetic bundle is now available for purchase at Outposts across the world. Head to The Wilds, The Ancient Isles, The Shores of Plenty or The Devil's Roar to purchase the Mercenary clothing, equipment, Pistol and Cutlass from their respective Outpost stores.
Xbox Mouse and Keyboard Support – Players on Xbox can now take full advantage of mouse and keyboard support on their favourite console!
Xbox Chatpad Support – Players on Xbox can now use a Microsoft Chatpad to engage in text chat with other players. Press 'T' (Default) to initiate chat or rebind from your Settings menu.
New Player Onboarding Improvements – The final onboarding pop-up informing players where to purchase their first voyage now persists on-screen until the onboarding is complete.
Inactive Player Detection – Improved detection and disconnection of inactive players wherever they are in the world.

KNOWN ISSUES
Extended Black Screen on Loading - There is a chance that players may be held indefinitely on the black loading screen (with spinner) when returning from the Ferry.
We are continuing to investigate this issue, but we have also identified a potential workaround if you are affected by this and in a crew. If you find yourself indefinitely stuck on the black loading screen, have your crew select your gamertag from the My Crew menu and 'Vote to Lock in the Brig'. After arriving in the brig you can then be released to bypass the black screen issue.
Item Quick Switch (PC Only) – After undocking from a ship based interactive item you will be unable to tap the quest radial or item radial to return to the previously wielded item.
Mercenary Voyage Cargo Run – The Mercenary Voyage of the Shores of Plenty Cargo Run provides players with Devil's Roar Cargo to deliver. The Voyage still directs players on a journey through the Shores of Plenty however the cargo is more vulnerable (and more rewarding) than intended.
