I like you. This game is a fantastic and surprisingly natural merger of Fantasy Zone and Pac-Man despite its ridiculous difficulty curve (the final levels are especially ridiculous) and some janky hitboxes. I'm not sure if I'd put it as a priority above certain other titles but it's nice to see it get some love here.

My favorite bit of useless M2 trivia is how they (mostly) fixed the Level 99 glitch in Phantasy Star IV in the JP PS2 Phantasy Star Collection and then managed to actually sneak the fix into the Wii Virtual Console release as well, despite Nintendo's strict "No ROM alterations except in regards to epilepsy concerns" policy for Virtual Console.

Wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones that went to Nintendo about including the e-reader levels in Mario Advance 4's Wii U VC release too, given M2 was handling GBA VC for them.

Well if its a Genesis remaster I would rather it be Genesis tracks. Those PC tracks always sounded odd.
It'd probably be more cost-efficient than writing new music in the Genesis format, yes. Spring Stadium's music would work for Carnival Night, too.

Of course, if they let Taxman do a Retro Engine remaster they could just have Tee Lopes write some new stuff.

Someone please confirm this, but isn't Sonic 3 & Knuckles playable on the Sonic Mega Collection for the GameCube and Xbox?

One more hour until more lineup details!
Yesss, it's pretty crazy that out of all of Sega's announcements this one got me the most excited.
I am kind of sad that these are not going to be on 3DS. It would be great to have them all on the one device.

Edit:
Wish list.

Such a cute Pac Man clone. I'd love a version with better audio mixing, the sound effects are way too loud and I can barely hear the great music.

The Nintendo Switch SEGA Ages version of Sonic the Hedgehog will feature the obscure Mega Play arcade version!
The Nintendo Switch SEGA Ages version of Thunder Force IV will include the Styx Mode from the SEGA Saturn port of the game and will feature online leaderboards!
The Nintendo Switch SEGA Ages version of Phantasy Star will feature the features from the PlayStation 2 SEGA Ages version such as options for walk speed, difficulty settings, FM/PSG toggle, a hiragana mode and saving.

WOAH, WHAT.

SONIC HAD AN ARCADE VERSION?!

Also sweet, content from the Saturn port. Man, digging these bonus features.

Hmmm only difference in the arcade version I notice is it has the clock ticking down. Would rather have the Tax Man for Sonic 1/2.

'Alex Kidd in Miracle World' is the most hyped release this year for any kid growth in Europe in the 80s. Every fucking house had a Master System in most of the European countries, and this game was packed with the console.

Looking forward to this - but a shame that we will have to buy all of the games individually when these games have been bundled together into packages in the past (still got my 360 version)

Nobody even knew what a Master System was in Germany. All about Nintendo back then.

Everybody had a SNES in primary school, only one guy had a Mega Drive. He loved Street Fighter and kept doing Hadouken movements and humming the music. Fun times.

I guess that's it, I was expecting more classic SEGA games other than Alex Kidd and Gain Ground, but hey I'm sure they're gonna announce more games that might surprise us.

In Spain was a completely different story :)

One of the most fascinating things is that NES, Megadrive and Master System coexisted in a same period, all of the three with the same importance.

'Alex Kid in Miracle World', the Megadrive 'Sonic the Hedgehod' version and 'Super Mario Bros 3' shared the same popularity in these years.

Really, M2's Sonic 1&2 versions for 3DS are legit, the only thing they lack is widescreen

Stop undermining the guys so much.

they lack a ton of things besides widescreen

example - no physics options. Taxman's sonic 1 port lets you change the physics options in the debug menu. Also, no elemental shields. The taxman port adds the bubble, lightning, and fire shields from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Also, no Tails or Knuckles. The Taxman port adds Tails and Knuckles as playable characters, and even patches the levels to give Knuckles a few unique items only he can get to. And no Super Sonic. The Taxman port adds super sonic to Sonic 1. Plus a ton of small bug fixes that only extreme Sonic nerds would notice that aren't fixed at all in the M2 port, because they didn't touch the original rom at all, i.e. all the custom bits come from their custom emulator, not rom hacking.

Not to mention Taxman's Sonic 2 has an extra level not in the original Sonic 2 (Hidden Palace Zone).

That sounds more like a fan remake than a Sonic remake. Too messy

The Taxman stuff is literally that, I'm pretty sure.

Yeah. I'll stick with M2 in any case. I can get how Taxman can have such cult because of Sonic Mania, but if what kreklooc described are the praised Taxman versions... Nah, that's fan romhack tier adding for the sake of it. Don't like it

It sounds to me like you don't know who Taxman is or what the Taxman ports are, which makes your "all it's missing is widescreen" comment look even sillier.

lol yup, you have no idea what you're talking about

I Know who Taxman is, i didn't know why his remakes are so praised

Still don't know why his remakes are so praised

If you don't know why his remakes are so praised, then no, you don't know taxman.

Hint: Taxman was very well known way, way, way before he started making shit for Sega.

And you clearly don't know who stealth is (hint: he's the patriarch of all Mega Drive hacking).

Given two otherwise identical products but one lets me play as two more characters and is in widescreen, I'd prefer the latter. And it wasn't a fan remake, hiring them was as legitimate as Sega getting M2 to do the work. That extra content is entirely optional, but I feel adds more value to the product, which is important given that they're 27 year old games.

They're praised because he created a modern Sonic engine that can compile to any platform just so that these old titles could be perfectly ported and displayed in widescreen and given various enhancements and new content, instead of emulating them. It required more work than almost any other effort and produced greater results than any other effort.

Sega hired Taxman to do those original games?
