Sega Ages Virtua Racing announced for Switch (out now)

Just announced during SEGA's TGS stream. You may have remembered M2 wishing they could have ported it to 3DS, but now it's happening for real.
edit: oof, i wasn't able to make the thread in time, because i was making sure if this is the first time an arcade perfect version of this game was made (it's not.)

I wonder which version serves as the basis for this. It has been ported around many times, but the other games in the recent Ages lineups were mostly emulated. Have they made a model 1 emulator for this game, could it be more like a native port, or is it based on one of the various console versions? I'm curious to find out.

I knew Virtua Racing would never come to 3DS if they wanted to do a pixel perfect port .
(3DS screen resolution is too low) so it had to be for Switch.
Model 1 arcade games use 496x384 resolution, like Model 2 and Model 3.

No idea why Shenmue 1 & 2 are there since it's already out on other platforms and could come to Switch that same port.

Really happy Panzer Dragoon Saga made it so high. Find someone that can emulate the shit out of it and I'll give Sega all my moneys!
Bug King in the list is Mushiking. That would require the cards so I do not see that one happening.
It was also taken before Shenmue I & II was even announced I believe.
Except these were made by people asking SEGA for ports in general, not just people wanting stuff for this line of games.

Its not about it being obscure, it was kinda one of those things that I thought was maybe a fever dream because I was so young at the time and it just kinda disappeared despite me being into video games and following them

It was a pretty great home version, with new tracks and everything.
There was also a Saturn version, also with new tracks, but seem to recall there being something not quite right about it.
Look at those crisp polygons.
No word on any new additions. But the blue car is taken from the PS2 version, so it most likely includes the rest of the added content from it as well (3 extra tracks and 4 extra cars.)
This is great news but the screens look oddly washed out to me. The tires should be darker and the blue skies aren't blue enough! I trust M2 though, and this game has a bunch of older ports they can pull extra content from.
I'm shocked JSR took the top spot in the poll. Never seemed like the series was appreciated all that much in Japan.
I feel like domestic merchandising is a pretty good popularity indicator in the JP market, and JSR has historically gotten practically nothing on that front. Like, one figure. That came out this year.
