What motivates these people? The optics are so devastating... are they trying to bolster Trump's defense that conspiring with Russia was a-okay by pretending relations with the Putin regime are business as usual?

I can see why it's so imperative to have more 'engagement' that we are sending senators over there.
Winning matters more than democracy or principles. All of these guys are thinking "with just 5 more years of power, we can create the perfect America that even liberals can't touch when they outnumber us. It will all be worth it then."
