Half year after the release is still better than never, right?
Bu... Buuutt.. It just works!
Well I'm glad something does
honestly. if you held a gun to my head and told me to tell you which is which without the framerate counter i wouldnt make it. But im glad to see more things getting rtx support i suppose
Contact hardening and proper penumbras are easily noticeable in the second pair of shots above. The first pair is a big trickier to compare.
It's easier to see the difference in motion with moving light sources and such:
"Ray Tracing is not but a total fail" - this is "Square shot themselves in the foot" levels of stupidity. Ray tracing has been a thing in offline rendering for ages and games will follow suit sooner or later on a massive scale. Also, SOTTR isn't really a benchmark for RTX and never was. Also, take some time to actually watch a video of the tech in motion. This ray tracing technology is nothing but a total fail. No matter where you look at it .
The difference is almost not visible . Yet the frame drop makes it like you playing a PS3 level game compared to a PS4 ...but on PC .
Who the hell want his fps to drop that much just to see a reflection or a stupid shadow on a window ? Give me a break

The difference is in framerate, duh.

lol, exactly. Bummer.
Dont be obtuse - you can tell.
My 9700k and a 2080ti both over clocked with everything on the highest settings but without dlss at 4k I get 25 fps average using the in game benchmark.
At 1440p I get 45 fps average.
At 1080p I get 61 fps average.

Don't know what you are talking about, all screenshots posted in this thread so far have shadows in them, difference is minimal while performance hit is up to 2x. RTX in SotTR was always the least impressive implementation of the tech, IMO.Dont be obtuse - you can tell.
Also, it is nice to take screenshots of shadows, not areas completely in shadow.
I bet all those people (same in every RTX thread) will not see difference even in new Q2 raytracing patch lol. Some people should really see someone who can check their eyesight at this point.
Way to dumb down and simplify discussion and issues that people have with RTX. This is not what most people are saying. Argument is that difference isn't big enough to warrant such massive hit to performance and increase in hardware cost.I bet all those people (same in every RTX thread) will not see difference even in new Q2 raytracing patch lol.
I'm sorry but this is video is hilarious. It's easier to see the difference in motion with moving light sources and such:
I'm not seeing any disappearing shadows at the 43 second mark. The shadows get softer but that's actually more realistic.I'm sorry but this is video is hilarious.
Am I crazy? Or at the switch 43 seconds in, do the NPC's up close suddenly cast shadows while the ones in the far background already had them but disappear with RTX turned on? Wtf?
Then at 2:33, literally nothing happens. Commentary acts mindblown and has to force the audience to react. lol. The beauty is you turn it on indeed.
I'm sure it has to look better in person or direct feed, but damn... No way these examples are worth the performance hit.
