Didn't realise it was going to be a CGI trailer. Guess Lara is full on ninja assassin now. Decent trailer, if somewhat generic in places. I enjoyed the last two games, the first far more than the second, so either way I'm intrigued.

On the bright side, some of her moves in the video might actually be in the game? Like using a rope arrow to hang enemies, Arkham style. Or using the grappling hook to wall-run, TR:U style. Hopefully these are actual gameplay mechanics and not just glorified keys like in the last two games.

It's the first reveal trailer. This is supposed to make people on Facebook and YouTube go "THIS IS SO SICK!!!!!!". Not show intricate gameplay or something like that. There's still plenty of time for that stuff before release.
Lost Legacy was a better Tomb Raider than this studio will ever make. It's Deus Ex all over again. Square doesn't understand its Western IPs in the slightest.
I fucking hate pre-rendered trailers. Waste of money that could go to actual game development, and tells me nothing about the fucking game other than MAYBE a setting.
I love it, the hypocrites who complained about killing human enemies in TR2 are now the ones who love the reboot games, and subsequently this new trailer reveals Lara brutally killing humans in true psychopathic fashion. And we're all suppose to feel sorry for her.

Here we go again with the Lara is a mass murderer. Meanwhile Atreus in God of War cries over his first kill and goes on killing everything but doesnt get any criticism.
There's a good chance that demo won't be posted online (officially, at least) until E3. It's supposed to be a selling point for the Tribeca event. id did the same thing with Doom. They showed off a demo exclusively to Quakecon attendees long before it was shown to the public.
Personality, challenging puzzles and platforming, a wide variety of exotic locales, her dual pistols, her acrobatic abilities...
These people jumping to conclusions man, I don't get you. Did you actually believe it would completely go back to its roots while we're still in the trilogy? Clearly it's building on top of 2013 and Rise. We can hope the balance between action and exploration is still good and hopefully more time inside these tombs and temples.

I do like that aspect of this. I wonder if the game play will actually go so far in that direction. I could imagine a Tomb Raider game with elements of Batman: Arkham Asylum's stealth (maybe minus the bad enemy A.I., ideally) being pretty interesting, and this trailer was giving me those sorts of vibes. That said, these newer Tomb Raiders are more so just something that I play to get the full experience, despite the fact that I haven't really even enjoyed the previous two games all that much. I thought Rise of the Tomb Raider started off really well, but I wish the rest of the game had pushed the survival aspect of the game play more as it seemed to at the beginning.
I was expecting to see something like this in the trailer but there was nowt...this is a confusing line, especially for OP.
Everything about this game has leaked. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if the game itself leaks sometime in August

Exactly why I'm not a fan of Tomb Raider anymore. I still love the old TR games. I bought the very first Tomb Raider on launch day for the PS1. But the new 'let's try to be a Uncharted game' direction is sad.
Don't get me wrong. The first 'new' Tomb Raider is a good game. But hey, I want a Tomb Raider game and not.... that. The new Lara is just way too brutal.

The thing is violence sells these days. It's not unlike when they showed the Mankind Divided reveal trailer with Jensen killing and blowing up everyone, in spite of the fact that the actual game's strengths lie in other aspects (stealth, choice. etc.).
Honestly, this transports me more than 20 years back. There was almost no possibility to watch this game, all went in blind despite some screenshots and it was one of the most atmospheric games of the time, if not the most. I still hate the save crystals to this day but discovering all the tombs on your own back then, the feeling of being more or less alone, the heart attacks when enemies attacked... I think this will never ever happen again for me in a game.
Now I'm sad :/
Was curious to see where they were going with this. I understand that they can't reboot the franchise when its a trilogy of an already rebooted franchise.
The serious tone of this game is hurting it for me. Please give me a side character that has more emotional range then a tomato. Just one guy or girl that can crack a joke and lighten the mood. Even God of War that has a super serious tone had some characters that was truly funny. This is actually a dealbreaker for me if they don't get this right.

God the music......the moment you loaded that game up on your Playstation you knew you were in for something special.
Yep, I just try to enjoy it as best as I can, but sadly the Tomb Raider I love is long lost in some hidden tomb that no developer is willing to seek out.
