If it's not a bug, then the game should at least tell you you're doing something wrong. The day just repeats forever if you don't do it the exact way. It was always described as a bug in the old walkthroughs.
I've come across that bug a few times, but I'm not exactly sure how to trigger it, other than maybe not walking to specific areas to trigger story-related events (IIRC, not meeting Gui Zhang in front of the foreman's office, but I'm fairly certain this wasn't necessarily the only way to cause the bug and avoiding other story events could cause it too). What happened to me a few times was that the work days would progress and the forklift routes would change as normal, but then the final day and forklift route type would repeat, which would mean that it would be possible to gain the maximum amount of pay and to repeat that indefinitely until the day limit gameover occurred.
Speaking of bugs, or at least, what is likely a bug that should be fixed, I hope they increase the gains from training and fix the strange "exploit" that exists in the first game where one could master a single move in a single training session by tediously repeating that move from lower levels to higher levels and never checking the move in the move list, which permanently applied the training experience gained in the session. There were three experience levels to moves: Learning, Moderate, and Advanced. If you trained a move that was in Learning level, each rep increased the meter substantially more than if the move was in Moderate level. For example, if your basic punch was at Learning level and you started a training session earlier in the day and want to spend the entire day training just that move, you would be able to master it in around 1000 reps (or some other number) if you never checked the move list. However, if you made the mistake of checking the move list during your training session and you had done enough reps to get into Moderate level, well, now you would have to do like 2000 reps in total in order to completely master the move (lol) because you gained less experience in Moderate level, which would only make sense from a design standpoint if the move was upgraded to a new animation with faster execution, a wider hitting range, more power, more "safe", etc, but the problem was that this wasn't necessarily the case for some of the moves that actually became slower and or less safe, which also meant it would take longer to train those moves.
I'd like to see this kind of tedium improved or erased from the games, but I'm not holding my breath for such changes.
Personal reactions:
- I despise the motion blur, especially in fights.
- I despise the anti-aliasing (or at least the original quincunx AA algorithm) because it blurs the fuck out of the textures and actually makes the second game look older than it is, while simultaneously removing the AM2 look.
- I'm somewhat okay with the bloom, at least in night time segments.
- I hope there are options to disable all three of the above and or there are better implementations of all three (probably unlikely).
- 16:9 is great, but I wish it applied to scenes as well. I understand it would take more work.
- I think it's a mistake to include the English dub, because of how horrendous it is in the second game. The first game was satisfactory, even meme worthy, but the second game's dub is atrocious and I think it will hurt the game more than it helps. I think times have changed and more western gamers want Japanese dialog and english subs in these types of games (peak weebdom).
- I want to be able to fight/beat Fuku-san at any time for as long as I want (while adhering to Ine-san's curfew and gentle concern). He deserves it. Make him level up as well so that it doesn't get monotonous. Maybe Izumi levels of frustration.
- Let Ryo grow a beard and take off his t-shirt for maximum gains and profound "frontin".
- More depressing drunkards stumbling around at night for maximum realism representing a rapidly changing society and many failing to keep up.
- I want Ryo to able to pick up Mimi-chan and tell her everything is going to be alright, while being awkward and wooden as fuck about it.
- Increase prize drops from random draws (true original loot box).
- Add models from the game as capsule toys to satisfy years of getting the same fucking bouncy ball over and over again when you just want the fucking harbor crane for once in this fucking game.
- Virtua Fighter arcade, which you can play with Ryo's friends who continually express concern that he's not doing anything more important.
- Master Chen should teach Ryo more moves.
- Randomized forklift racing tracks and work routes.
- Expanded harbour area with more opportunities to fight anyone.
- More random cats and dogs leisurely strolling around the harbour phasing in and out of existence to suddenly stop Ryo's amazing crate quota speed runs.
- Even if it doesn't make sense, blackjack gambling parlours should be implemented.
Alright, I'm done.
