So I just saw this amazing video and it made me think. When I first saw Shin, I thought it was very strong. Way stronger than 2014 Godzilla. But after watching King of monsters and seeing burning Godzilla, I don't know anymore. Who do you think would win in a fight?

I enjoy both, but it would absolutely be Shin-Godzilla on account of the fact that he can't ever actually be stopped, only delayed for extended periods of time.

Shin-Godzilla's whole shtick is that he keeps physically evolving and evolving to adapt to new threats he faces.

Earth
Novel version of the netflix godzilla anime.

He has Shin Godzilla capability and more.

In the novel, he was able to shoot a beam to intercept and destroy a space kaiju coming to earth as a astroid while it's on it's way toward Earth, while it was flying by Jupitor with one beam blast.
The Space Kaiju is said to be the size of the moon and as dense as Earth.

In the novel, Human, and the two alien race worked together, and managed to drop godzilla between two tectonic plate and try to crush him.
He blast his way from deep under earth by blasting his way through the himelya mountain, destroying it, and continue to do his thing.

Shin has beams coming out of every hole of his body. He can adapt and mutate into other forms when threatened.

He's fuckin slow as molasses though. If Legendary wants to win he'd have to fight a distance battle.

It's obvious that it would be the Monsterverse one. Shin Godzilla didn't even have to fight another monster.

The other Godzilla would be stopped in the middle of its attack by a cut to a human trying to find the cure for his little cousin, Shin will have obliterated it by shutting down all electricity in the area, leveling the city, before absorbing its sibling into its heart meanwhile.
You cannot stop the kind of non-stopping mutating she shows, she's the queen of the monsters.
Don't worry though, the next installment might show us the fight, we'll be fixed ;)

Monsterverse. Considering he tanked multiple nukes and fought various monsters and was dropped from space. Shin runs out of juice in like an hour and is taken out by normal military weapons.

Shin is pretty weak on the tier list when it comes to Godzilla incarnations.

Shin would win. Monsterverse Godzilla is a tank, but it's something knowable. Shin would just keep doing weird shit until it found something that worked.

Shin doesn't seem to react until something attacks it, which would be a critical weakness against monsterverse Godzilla

I mean, monsterverse Godzilla would lay into Shin over multiple encounters I imagine, causing it to completely shut down for long periods of time.

But ultimately it would just keep evolving through each encounter until it found a way to counter monsterverse Godzilla. remember, the oxygen destroyer might not have outright killed monsterverse G, but it did HEAVY damage to him and forced him to retreat back to his little nest where he'd have to spend YEARS recharging.

Shin is just too much of an unknown.

KotM Godzilla has acquired some new powers, so I'm not sure anymore.

I'm curious who would win between Shin Godzilla and KotM Ghidorah.

While his ranged attacks are unrivaled, Shin is a bit of a glass cannon. If Legendary Goji gets ahold of him, match is over.

Yep. Everyone voting for Monsterverse G here seems to be completely misunderstanding the functionality and point of Shin Godzilla's depiction as a kaiju. The point is that you can't kill Shin Godzilla. You can slow him down, beat him down for extended periods of time- but he's always going to come back and continue to mutate and evolve into a new form that adapts to the latest threats and situations.

That and the novel version is not full grown, it also destroyed a city New York or LA with one beam blast, which it seem to change to laser like beam to explosion causing and was stated that only Mothers and Batavia can defeat Godzilla.
Beside the base super durability and healing that all Godzilla it also generate some kind of barrier , and King ghidorah had to turn some kind of living black hole Eldridge horror to fight against that Godzilla.

KotM Godzilla is ridiculously strong, even without the supercharge from the nuke. But he can be taken out, as shown in both movies. Shin is a glass cannon. I think they didn't to a draw, but Shin evolves some new defense.

I'm not sure about the novel but the Netflix version was so ridiculous with shooting energy into space to try and attack spaceships and all that.

I would actually argue that Shin Godzilla is closer to Godzilla Earth in the sense that the latter just kept evolving for thousands of years until it was this invincible deity-like being.

Shin Godzilla is basically right at the beginning of that evolution process. Just look at what his tail was starting to do by the end of the film. Evolving into countless other creatures.

Wasn't there also deleted footage/storyboards of like, chunks of Shin Godzilla that had been blown off evolving into their own organisms, too?

KoTM Godzilla tanked Castle Bravo. As destructive as Shin Godzilla is, I don't think he could stand up to KoTM's durability. But lord, I'd love to see how Shin would evolve to counter that.

Shin Godzilla would get destroyed he has the mobility of a turtle and the arms of a trex

Plus like he hibernates after doing a devastating attack while Monsterverse Godzilla gets coronated after doing something similiar

Including the Netflix one is cheating based on it's shear size alone.

ShinG can't be killed by humans, we don't know if another kaiju can kill it or wound him before he evolves enough. G14-19 has a pretty good shot

Shin Godzilla got blown up by conventional weapons. He also has no feats to prove he can stop other monsters since all he went up against are humans. He also runs out of power. Legendary Godzilla took a nuke and laughed it off. Incinerated a space dragon. Oxygen destroyer wounded this Godzilla, but still doesn't really kill him.

Blown up? They had to freeze it to stop it and it's not even dead. Weapons didn't do jack shit to it.

KotM was basically working off a monster energy drink. He reset to normal after burning off the extra fuel. The devastating shit Shin can do is off of his base normal energy.

Lets remember Monsterverse getting knocked tf out by a building. Spending like 1/8 of KotM asleep for one reason or another.

Also to anyone mentioning Burning Godzilla shit. He was working off the excess energy from the nuke and Mothra sacrifice. He shouldn't be able to that normally. And honestly shouldn't have done it in this film, but whatevs.

It got knocked over by trains and jet plane explosions and then frozen and earlier in the film got visibly injured by bunker busters.

Any other Godzilla including the Monsterverse one would have easily tanked that.

He wasn't taken out, but he did bleed when he took the bunker buster. No conventional weapon on earth would do anything to Legendary Godzilla, or hell most Godzilla's in-general lol. So it's worth mentioning.

Again, it can't be overstated that Shin Godzilla is more of an apocalyptic event vs an actual living creature with a precise goal.

This scene was cut, but you can easily see how it'd be canon considering the tail shit.

mania-done-20170405174359_xbsvreqr.jpg

The chunks of flesh being blown off of him were beginning to become their own life forms with teeth and eyes for fucks sake.

Who knows what that tail is going to become the next time he wakes up?

7gydJeh.jpg

Doing damage to Shin Godzilla was just giving it another avenue of evolution ultimately.

What do you do against a creature that spawns more horrifying madness from the wounds you create on it that it ultimately heals anyway? lol

Did you guys even watch the movie? A huge chunk of Shin was blown off by a bomb. That's when it decided to use its beam weapon. If he didn't shoot the planes down, he would have been blown to bits. That scene shows that if they had dropped a nuke, it would have destroyed Shin. Let's not forget Shin Godzilla was knocked over by exploding trains and force fed chemicals.

I'd love a sequel to Shin in which the next evolution (hinted in the tail) is something never before seen in a Godzilla movie. Shit could be wild.

Monsterverse has been shown to be knocked out by a building so. Also KotM was jobbing the whole film even after getting his nuke and mothra power up. It wasn't until he like 10 minutes to actually breathe that he could do something.

Additionally those parts of shin that are blown off grow into new organisms. It might be purposeful that he takes more damage so that it can cause further spread of himself. Almost like the thing. It doesn't like getting hurt, but it can separate itself to continue its existence.

Godzilla KOTM is doing things he has done in past films. Where Shin is doing corny anime stuff like shooting lasers out of every scale on his body. That's something Godzilla should never do ever. Save that weird stuff for the Hanna Barbara cartoons

Yes, Legendary Godzilla got knocked down, but it just finished a tag team fight with 2 monsters and was tired.. Shin just awoke from his nap and got bitch slapped by a couple of trains and couldn't get back up.

Second of all, the evolution thing looks very slow. Shin Godzilla was very vulnerable.

It's also worth noting that we never actually get a proper look at the military vs KotM Godzilla. The first film turns the camera away in most instances, and the only times it shows us anything are random dudes on the ground with rifles and rocket launchers. So we honestly have no clue what jets and tanks would do to it. In KotM, humanity allies with Godzilla so they never unleash their forces on him.

I think given that he can be knocked out by a building, he can probably be hurt by weapons just the same as Shin.

So if both can be damaged physically, it comes down to how each of them handles those wounds. In KotM's case, it retreats to go back to its nuclear home to recharge for years. In Shin's case, it evolves into a new creature altogether while also allowing the flesh torn off of it to become independent new creatures.

KotM doing Burning G is doing something a single Godzilla has done once which led to its death immediately after. It's on huge problem with the film. It tries so hard to show that "they know godzilla, and are big fans too" using a shitload of references that ultimately are wasted in the context they're used in.

At least shin is it's own Godzilla developing its own powerset, not using previous without the proper context.
