That and the novel version is not full grown, it also destroyed a city New York or LA with one beam blast, which it seem to change to laser like beam to explosion causing and was stated that only Mothers and Batavia can defeat Godzilla.

Shin did not get taken out by any weapons, they had to freeze it, it's still very much alive.
It got knocked over by trains and jet plane explosions and then frozen and earlier in the film got visibly injured by bunker busters.
He wasn't taken out, but he did bleed when he took the bunker buster. No conventional weapon on earth would do anything to Legendary Godzilla, or hell most Godzilla's in-general lol. So it's worth mentioning.
Again, it can't be overstated that Shin Godzilla is more of an apocalyptic event vs an actual living creature with a precise goal.

Monsterverse has been shown to be knocked out by a building so. Also KotM was jobbing the whole film even after getting his nuke and mothra power up. It wasn't until he like 10 minutes to actually breathe that he could do something.
Godzilla KOTM is doing things he has done in past films. Where Shin is doing corny anime stuff like shooting lasers out of every scale on his body. That's something Godzilla should never do ever. Save that weird stuff for the Hanna Barbara cartoons
