So uh....which Steam version of Batsugun is the one to get?

I've seen one or two impressions say there's less lag in the Bitwave version, which is to be expected as it's arcade vs. Saturn.

The Saturn Boosted version has extras though, the most obvious being the Saturn version, but also the remixed soundtrack and some gadgets, though not to the level of M2.

...I'd go for the version that's a fifth of the price and hope they haven't botched it somehow.

No reason not to play this in mame, honestly.
I stopped buying bitwaves releases after the first batch. Far too many weird issues with them, and the other release is the saturn version and there's no reason to play that over the arcade version.

Tried a couple of fun jam games today.

Gorygyx Rush

New little boss rush game from Gryzor. It looks amazing. The lying down boss in the second loop is brutal! He spawns a mechanical caterpillar thing which ended all my runs.

Night Ranger Mystia

This is really good fun, short caravan game with a sword mechanic. It looks like it's been updated since I downloaded it. Make sure you get the post jam v1.00b version instead.

Another chunkilicious pico-8 game today. Only one stage but it's loads of fun.

I just bought the third Bitwave Toaplan collection to add to the others. I absolutely love Toaplan shmup graphics and I really dig the Bitwave CRT shader <3

I was hoping to get Vimana at some point, and here it is. I like this Batsugun version better than the Saturn one as well.

Is there a difference between the different regional versions of Batsugun? Wondering which I should be playing.

According to this lad on the shmups forum - https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?p=270430#p270430

"Batsugun (like most later Toaplan games) has its region defined via jumpers on the PCB, not by the data in the ROMs."

So it sounds like nothing changes. I've only ever seen batsugun and batsugun special. There's a batsuguna rom which is an older set, so maybe avoid that one as it's probably buggy.

War of Aero by Allumer is now out on PS4 and Switch. This one seems to have been "inspired" by Irem's Image Fight.

Grabbed it but haven't played it yet, also never seen it before this ACA release…

OT but damn will I ever get ACA Amidar??? Hope it's not stuck between licensing, game is Konami's but iirc it's Activision in the west?

Hamster made the Switch into something 10x better than it would've been for me. At this point I have 200+ ACA/NG and the top ones I'm missing are mostly ones I'll never get, because from Capcom/SEGA's, or Popeye, Ms Pac-Man or because they need a spinner/light-gun controller.

FYI Ginga Force and Natsuki Chronicle are currently on an absurd 96% off Steam sale.

The Seventia Collection on Steam

There are signs that the publisher (Rising Star) might be in trouble. They have a few other heavily discounted games (notably Deadly Premonition), possibly at risk for delisting.

I don't know what it says about me that the ship looks sorta R-Typey and that was enough to get me interested before I even hit play.

Are these games any good? I'm tempted but I've never heard of them before.

Damn, I wish some of these ports were for games I don't own already… like Raiden Fighter Aces collection, DDP SaiDaiOuJou, Border Down…

Also, it sucks that the ship has sailed for M2's bringing Ketsui and Battle Garegga to Switch, and I'm not holding my breath for them to make the jump to Switch 2

Uh, that's certainly an unexpected departure for Missile Dancer.

Big Bundle: https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/40670/Toaplan_Arcade_Shootem_Up_Ultimate_Collection/

Since I have all the other games it was cheaper buying the biggest bundle again for 16,84€ than buying the four new games for 19,32€

At any rate, this is a steal for these awesome classics. I never expected to own all this Toaplan goodness on Steam.

Any owner of import Aleste Collection on Switch? Not sure its a bug, but for Power Strike II , Sega Master version, there is two type for screen you can use M2 gadgets. Its either a widescreen format 300*222 ( yuk.. ) or a dot by dot 200*200. Its freakin small! Other games in the collection have a more respectable screen size to use M2 gadgets , like 300*300. Is it a bug? Looking over at Youtube and some players play 300*300 with gadgets on. Kinda make me crazy. Lol.

So how long would people say it takes to "beat" (see most content and an ending) ZeroRanger? Feel free to spoil some structural stuff since I already kinda spoiled myself to the main twist, I think.
