I didn't know the administrators were using AWS. Maybe they should reconsider? Who is responsible for hosting here?

I doubt they are going to switch as that would be a major effort to move to a lesser product. Try one of the admins.
Depends on where you live and the item you're wanting, but your best bet is to use different marketplaces or dedicated websites based on the product.
When a company is as large and as ubiquitous as Amazon (see: AWS), it's impossible to boycott the entire service. However, you can still boycott in smaller ways that make sense, such as not ordering from Amazon or Audible or shopping at Whole Foods and finding other avenues for those products. To say "well I guess you can't use the internet anymore lolllllll" is unproductive and missing the point entirely.
Damn, thanks for the heads up. I cancelled the audiobook portion of my order and used the cash I saved to get some nice coffee from a Whole Foods nearby.
I think people at the grocery stores do everything here. But an amazon person might deliver it.

Snark aside, isn't it far more productive to focus on policy reform surrounding Amazon's practices? Even with a Republican controlled government, I think you're far more likely to see meaningful change through those means rather than asking participants in a capitalist society to vote with their wallet against a company as massive as Amazon.

Too late for me. Some of the stuff I needed for my new house wasn't available within 250 miles of any physical store I shop at, so Amazon was my last choice. But I've always treated Amazon as a last resort, and will continue to do so.
Even digital stuff?! Got some comics preordered there for tomorrow, soooooooo yeah.

Ehhh I don't use Amazon to save money. I just like the convenience. Normally we'd eat at restaurants all of the time but we're in the US for the summer and everything is so spread out.
Nah. Protest your local, state, and federal governments. Run for office. Let's change the laws to implement better worker protections.

The original post listed The Book Depository and AbeBooks as well, so it's obviously a joke. I wonder how many people will actually try and follow this boycott by buying from them though, their websites definitely don't make it obvious that they are owned by Amazon.
more than happy to not directly buy anything or use their streaming services even though it takes very little effort. worked there, hated it, have never bought anything from there since. that AWS stuff though they've got their tentacles stuck :(
Perhaps a sense of superiority will expand to take its place.
I'm skint, so I won't be buying anything off Amazon anyway. But at least now I can feel better about it.
I'll definitely not buy anything from them this week... except for the Octopath Traveler I have pre ordered. Also if they have a good deal on a HDR10 TV.
