Whenever materialism/consumerism is involved, Americans develop such an entitled attitude lol. See: The Hollow Knight mexican eshop thread

"Nope! I need this pointless product TODAYYYYYYY!!!"

No problem! I will always support workers who risk their jobs to try and make a change for themselves and others.
Amazon have got away for too long treating their employees like shit so I hope we start seeing some changes in the near future or I will keep using them less and less.
That's the spirit :)

Non-Prime Amazon shipping speeds have sucked for a while now. Once my current batch of pre-orders is done I don't see myself using Amazon ever again for games. Although I'd be surprised if Sony or MS offer physical drives next gen anyways.

When a company is as large and as ubiquitous as Amazon (see: AWS), it's impossible to boycott the entire service. However, you can still boycott in smaller ways that make sense, such as not ordering from Amazon or Audible or shopping at Whole Foods and finding other avenues for those products. To say "well I guess you can't use the internet anymore lolllllll" is unproductive and missing the point entirely.

I've tried to cut back on my Amazon usage significantly since learning about how they run their business.

Does this mean I'm not allowed to browse sites hosted on AWS? What about this contract my company is trying to close on for our future deployments on AWS?

Snark aside, isn't it far more productive to focus on policy reform surrounding Amazon's practices? Even with a Republican controlled government, I think you're far more likely to see meaningful change through those means rather than asking participants in a capitalist society to vote with their wallet against a company as massive as Amazon.

Too late for me. Some of the stuff I needed for my new house wasn't available within 250 miles of any physical store I shop at, so Amazon was my last choice. But I've always treated Amazon as a last resort, and will continue to do so.

Does it make sense to strike & boycott at the same time? The pain a boycott inflicts is lack of revenue in the presence of paid workers. The pain of a strike is the inability to fulfill orders.

Combine both and all you've given is a free warehouse maintenance window. Makes sense to rack up orders during a strike, then cancel due to non-delivery because the workers aren't there.
Well said actually. HAHA.

People I know that work for Amazon say they already get decent pay. It's the working conditions they'd like to get improved.

Nah. Protest your local, state, and federal governments. Run for office. Let's change the laws to implement better worker protections.

Not buying things on Amazon for a week does jack shit.

I would like to, but Firestick is the only way for me to stream HIDIVE to my TV, and HIDIVE is the only way to legally watch Legend of The Galactic Heroes.

For those expressing concern about audiobooks, you can easily get by for a week using the Libby App by Overdrive. Check out audiobooks for free, from your participating local public library. :D

Whole Foods was included in the list of things not to do, yes.
Ah my bad. The way it was structured made it weird.

So how exactly does avoiding Amazon for a week help?

Wait, their objective was to stop people using Amazon today so prime day wouldn't happen next week? Isn't this already a huge failure?

This seems so poorly planned. The fact that I’m not hearing it until the day before from here of all places means this won’t even make a dent.

more than happy to not directly buy anything or use their streaming services even though it takes very little effort. worked there, hated it, have never bought anything from there since. that AWS stuff though they've got their tentacles stuck :(

I'll definitely not buy anything from them this week... except for the Octopath Traveler I have pre ordered. Also if they have a good deal on a HDR10 TV.
