It's not! It's inspired by the game, obviously, but it won't follow the book/games storylines closely.
Parangosky is a solid "lore" pull for the show, it'll still be weird not hear Jen Taylor's voice for Cortana though.

I guess the quote could read either way, but it sounds to me like they're trying to fit it into the rest of the Halo canon? Or am I interpreting it incorrectly / did I miss something more recent?

What I'm gathering from this is that they might just switch things around depending on the actors they find. E.G. : a character that was much older might suddenly be much younger.
Solid picks all around. Having Parangosky is a great pull. Complex, interesting character to have.
As far as questions of canon, I imagine it'll be minor. Nothing that drastically changes things but also not completely beholden.

That's actually a really great casting pick. She was really good in Designated Survivor and she looks a lot like Cortana. I am keeping my fingers crossed this will be good. I have been looking forward to it since Spielberg gave that blurb about it at the Xbox reveal in 2013.

Talking more about the likeness also. As she is played now by one actor.
She's a damn good pick. Not only is she a good actor but she could be Jen Taylor's sister.

The Expanse is not unlike what I imagine the Interplanetary War era of the Halo universe was like.
Ballsy if they go for it as big part of John-117's mythos is that player / audience don't know him as person, but just as Master Chief as they are detached by never seeing him.
