Well since you are never going to play it, just imagine it being a rip-off of Breaking Bad but all discussion about meth is actually about The Clickers.

For sure, though that's to be expected. I mean stuff like Tess and Sam deaths or Joel killing those two thugs to give a few examples, they were really great moments.

I think we see a lot of that from ellie .
Still got a feeling that a lot of those moments some people not going to like if she out for revenge .

This first party thread really makes no sense.

Well we still talking about first parties devs even if the topic all over the place lol.

Good dialogue, great characters and arcs, an interesting conflict, fantastic cutscenes, gameplay that always feels meaningful to the story being told (on top of just being great), great performances etc.

TLOU is just a fantastic all around package with very few flaws. No Sony game has bested it from a story telling perspective, and very games overall either.

I have a feeling that Sony is going to partner up with Rocksteady to make a PS5 exclusive. its crazy how we havent seen even a reveal of their game. i suspect their vision was being limited by current gen hardware and sony said we will help you out if you launch with us. Cerny did say that in 2015 when he asked devs what they want in a next gen console everyone said SSD. Rocksteady had just shipped Batman AK in 2015.
Warner Bros. won't let the next Rocksteady game be exclusive to one console. Makes no sense.
Marketing deal? Yes. Full exclusivity? No.

A lot of people bring up the writing, the perfomances, the overall story and world-building to evidence The Last of Us greatness, but I think gameplay and level design are just as stellar. TLOU is legit one of the best designed games of its era, with plenty of option for different approaches in its big and multi-leveled areas, and the stealth-action gameplay is still one of my favorite set of mechanics in any game since. The one area where I'd agree that the game is somewhat mediocre is the enemy AI, something that ND has showed improvement over the years in its more recent projects.

Yeah, even Left Behind had an AI improvement.

You do realize Rocksteady is owned by WB right? There will be no exclusives produced by them unless it's like Arkham VR and it's a 6 month deal.

The characters. TLOU's story on its own is some trope filled overdone shit that cinema has done better. But this also goes for Uncharted. I personally play ND stuff for the character interactions. They are second to none. If you've watched a zombie film, or read a book or anything you've experienced TLOU basic plot. Joel and Ellie carry that plot on the backs of Troy and Ashley's performances.

I don't actually think the story itself is amazing. It is a fairly standard story.

It is the execution of it all along the way that pulls you in. All the character interactions and dialogue culminate to that very last line of dialogue at the end of the game. You would have to play it to understand.

I think the combat fit perfectly with the context of the game.

It's been ages since I last played TLOU (hell, it was on PS3, so 2013-14), but I remember the gameplay being great, fun and tense and the only things I was actually not that happy with are probably going to be implemented/improved now.

Things like the enemy AI, a lack of certain actions like dragging corpses or going prone (which you can do now in Part II), dual encounters with humans and infected... Sure, the writing, performances and visual presentation are going to be stellar, but I think people might be sleeping on this game a bit too much when it comes to its gameplay. I think it's going to be an absolute blast.

But if I were to choose which game I want to see more of right now, that'd be Ghost of Tsushima. Maaaan, I'm thirsty for that.

It was how flawed he was.

He was broken from what happened 20 years prior and he didn't want to go there again with Ellie but it happened anyway.

Fast forward through their adventure and he does all kinds of stuff to protect and save Ellie. This includes lying in Ellie's face.

It all just shows how deep his love goes and just how hurt he really is. He is so desperate not to go back to that place again 20 years ago that he is fine with being a brutal, selfish liar. As long as he can protect his daughter this time, that is all that matters to him.

It is great.

While Quantic Dream decided to split off from relying on Sony and has brought previously PlayStation exclusive games to another platform, there does not seem to be any bad blood. "We always had a great relationship with Sony PlayStation. They have always been very supportive of my work and we have always been very loyal to them in return. So we had a very open talk about all this, and they allowed us to release our catalog of titles on PC," David Cage confirmed. After all of these talks and partnerships were in place, the PC porting process could finally begin, though it was not all smooth sailing.
David Cage about Detroit: Become Human, Beyond: Two Souls etc. coming to PC.

I loved his character arch simply cause he went from a cold hearted father that watched his daughter die in his arms, to learning to love another child that also helped him find his humanity again. Joel was a straight savage throughout the game but you start to see him lighten up a bit towards the end as his relationship grew with Ellie. Also helps that Troy Baker fucking nailed that role imo.

I'm afraid of zombies since my childhood. I'm completely incapable to watch/read/play a movie/book/video game which include zombies.

I will play Uncharted games one day because I really want to understand why people like Naughty Dog games so much, but even if I really like those games, I just can't play The Last of Us.

Okay, thank you. So it's more the storytelling than the story, right? Have you a concrete example of that?

Sure, TLoU P2 will give you that hyper realistic torture porn, but that's a dime a dozen, what other game is going to let you role play as a samurai and fuck people up with one swipe of your sword while looking like a complete badass?

Look at those animations as you fuck him up, look at the soldiers recoil in fear, look at the blood stains on the floor, look at the background, LOOK AT IT ALL!!!!

Sucker Punch better have a whole team working on the photo mode because it's the first thing I'm gonna try. Seriously, all of Sony's games should have a photo mode as deep as Gran Turismo Sport's

Not amazing story, the plot is actually quite basic (Ellie is immune to a infection that affects humans so Joel has to get her to some people so they can find a cure). Not that there's anything wrong with that, I definitely prefer something more simple with great characters than some convulted shit with a lot of characters.

It's all about the tone and the moments during the travel of Joel and Ellie. And the voice actors were great, some examples.

Yeah for sure I really liked the combat scenarios the game throws at you, there's a good mix of stealth and gunplay.

I especially liked the later sections in the DLC with the infected and human enemies at the same time. I hope to see much more of that in TLOU2. The exploding arrow we saw in the E3 demo will be so good.

It's cool to see his transitioning from not caring about Ellie to treating her like his daughter and doing what he did at the end of the game.

It's not about hyper realistic torture porn but all that animation goodness .
The dude that break down TLOU 2 gameplay animation talk about how advance it is .
What also important is seeing all that animation goodness in MP, i really hope Sony and ND push the MP more than part 1 .

Finish the game. Joel is a reflection of how many of us would react and ultimately become in an f'd up world like that. His character arc is brilliant. And one of his best scenes is towards the end of the game, not to mention the scene everyone loves is the finale because of how muted it is.
