The Star Wars saga is now complete (until the next revival some years down the line, where we inevitably get another "final movie of the saga" conclusion), and it's been long enough since The Rise of Skywalker came out that whatever honeymoon glow it may have enjoyed is long since gone.

So then, ResetEra, it is time to decide: what is the best Star Wars movie? And why?

'Sigh'', why? This is the easiest Sta Wars related question to answer.

3-9 is way more difficult to rank.

Still think it's TLJ, although history will not be kind to the sequel trilogy as a whole. It's possible in five years I'll end up reverting to ESB as the best once I have more perspective on the whole thing.

The Force Awakens was the first Star Wars movie I liked.
Then I liked Solo.

Didn't like the rest that I've seen.

I dunno how anyone can't say the OG episode IV, I know ESB is a critical darling these days but c'mon, none of this happens without A New Hope.

A New Hope. Love ESB, but ANH was made drum-tight in the edit and stands on its own, whereas ESB drags terribly in the middle and only works within the context of the original.

The Death Star attack is better than the entire rest of the series combined.

Why didn't you add more options? Jedi and Force Awakens should be in there. Maybe some of the other prequels.

Definitely not Rise of Skywalker or The Last Jedi. It's been a while since I watched Empire but I'm going to go with that or Return of the Jedi.

TLJ, the themes of the story between Luke,Rey and Kylo really resonated with me and I liked the direction of Finn's character development. Also the experience of watched the light speed kamikaze in theaters was magical

We've had this poll multiple times, you need to ask "What is the best Star Wars movie that isn't the one everyone already agrees is the best."

Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, obviously.

But really, I'm going to have to say Rogue One. I liked the gritty nature of it. It really had that sense of struggle against the Empire and I felt like I got to know those characters better in one movie than 90% of the new characters from the sequel trilogy.

It's the same answer that it always has been. Empire. After that, New Hope. After that, RotJ. After that, who cares.

People saying Revenge of the Sith is better than any of the OT need their head checked, or need to rewatch it. I had fond memories of it, but after a recent rewatch on D+, I found it was plagued with the same things I complained about for the other PT movies. Terrible acting, terrible script, terrible CGI, and the fights are just cartoonish.
