This is sounds great. Thanks for sharing. I like the singers voice. On that first song, she kind of reminds me of Pauline Black from The Selecter.
If anyone is interested in having a listen, you can check out the album on their website here: https://www.bossriot.com/listen
She's Kerosene is a great song and it's nice to see The interrupters doing well.

I know they don't play ska anymore, but The Aquabats have a kickstarter for a new album and new episodes for their TV show that some people might be interested in checking out.
Great to see they are still trying to make music and TV shows. Hope they can hit their $1.11 million goal.

Kill Lincoln just put out a re-release of their Good Riddance to Good Advice record on vinyl with a completely new b-side. It's really, really good.

Very nice. Any word on a new full length album coming? It's been 3 years since that EP. Would love to hear more from these guys.

Phonsonics - Reggae Don't Pay the Rent
The cover art for their EPs and Singles are consistently terrible, but they make good music.

New We Are The Union is out and it's dope. You can find it on all streaming services. I think they also put a vinyl out. They kickstarted this a while ago, good to see that it worked out.

Nice, thanks for the heads up! Didn't realize this was releasing so soon. I really liked the singles they released so far. Looking forward to giving it a listen.

Also, I do have a bunch of albums to share that I've been listening to that I've been meaning to get around to posting. I'll try to post them on Friday or this weekend.

Fuck, dude, still need to catch up with you last week's post.

Nevertheless, the new rbf is single is awesome (as always) and backyard superhero are a really good skapunk setup.

A bit ot, but I saw frenzal rhomb for the first time yesterday and it was unbelievably good.

And I'll just leave this song here, I love Kill Lincoln, but the brass part starting at around 3:20 is so fucking amazing:

I don't think we seen Just Friends in this thread. I wouldn't exactly call them a ska band, though. I think it's important to know that they're close with Mom Jeans/Graduating Life and the adjacent Emorock scene. I'd describe them as a weird emo/punk/funk/soul/ska crossover.

They released a new album a couple of months ago adn there are some wild but also some mellow songs (which I particularly like) on it. Great stuff overall.

FYI, they're doing another punk/ska festival this June in Ohio. This year's was great, but somehow the lineup is even better already.

https://www.songkick.com/festivals/2787764-camp-anarchy/id/36303699-camp-anarchy-2019#lineup

Offspring, Bad Religion, NOFX, Rancid, Pennywise, Less Than Jake, Suicidal Tendencies are the headliners. More to come I think.

Hopefully Fat Mike doesn't visit Vegas this year.
Damn, looks to be another great show. Those headliners are great. I'd like to see pretty much every band listed in that link. I've always wanted to see The Suicide Machines live. The show is 9 hours away from me though, but that's closer than a lot of these great concerts/festivals are usually at.

Also, I do have a few more new albums I've been listening to that I've been meaning to get around to sharing. I'll try to post them sometime this week.

Possibly the best soundtrack of all time... my copy had a nice divot on Pressure Drop but I played it so much on a beater turntable I had that it wore smooth and doesn't skip anymore.

Goldfinger is one of my favourite bands, or at least was when I was younger. I saw them live 7 times and met them twice. I think they're the only ska band I've really been able to get into, and only some of their songs are ska.

I'm glad it came up on spotlight. Is the more dub or dancehall side of things cool here, too? I'm thinking of Lee Scratch Perry or Ini Kamoze.

There could be some nice overlap with the punk community thread here but if you really want to see the definition of lazy, take a look at that worthless poster who still has the "OP in progress" for over a year now. Soon, though. Maybe.

Also, in terms of ska punk frontmen, one of the all-time best has got to be Dicky Barrett from the Bosstones. Such a great swirl of tune and gargle.

Yeah those genres are cool to post. I'd say anything that has some roots in ska, rocksteady or reggae is welcome here.

I'll throw a link in the OP to the Punk OT since there should definitely be some overlap for ska punk fans. Since our communities are small, any way to get more views would be welcome.

Sooo, the new Be Like Max record will be out in February, i think backers will get their digital copies next week.

This is their latest music video and oh my, this reminds me so much of the Suicide Machines. Super fast, aggressive, pissed off and just fun:

The album is completely diy, no label, financed through kickstarter and produced by Dave McWane (Big D and the Kids Table).

Same here. Now on two playthroughs and it's quite good!

Talk about a ska revival. Ska and Skapunk is really making a comeback, who'd have thought that.

New releases by Reel Big Fish, Mad Caddies, iirc Less Than Jake are working on new stuff, all of these bands are touring. Streetlight Manifresto's orchestra/BOTAR were highly praised and immediately sold out and they just announced several additional shows.

Also Barker's Back to the Beach festival last year (this year's not looking that ska-heavy).

The Interrupters are super popular (Jimmy Kimmel appearance) and are basically doing Rancid/Operation Ivy ska.

Pick It Up, the documentary about ska in the 90s will also be out in a few months.

And of course all these new bands such as Call Me Malcolm, Kill Lincoln, We are the Union. Wild stuff.

Maybe this time around ska will be considered cool.

There is a Ska thread and I have never posted in it- How is that possible?
Anyhow, threw ska shows in High School and these days I DJ Dubby weird electro stuff. I know far too much about modern Jamaican inspired music.
I should have two discs this year, one is punk rock mashups and I have a political ska record in the works using samples from an old band called The Adjusters but sampling ska is a pain in the ass and takes forever.
I also trying to get my dream gig together with DJ Vadim and Version City.. but that is an ongoing work in progress.
