I've heard one of their songs, Please Stop Your Lyin', but I haven't heard anything from the album you posted. Just into the first song and I love it. Thanks so much. Love a good soul ska style.
Awesome, I appreciate that you post so many different albums here, but I never get around to listening to them because I do a lot of my listening at work and I don't browse the forum then. Do you have a good recommendation for a spotify playlist that I could follow?

Thanks thelongestj. Just hoping some people find some good music to get into. I guess write down some of the artists I post or make a playlist on Spotify with a song from each album at home as a reminder to check it out when you're at work. If you like The Sentiments style of music I think you'll really like some of the stuff I've posted so far in the thread.

As far as Spotify playlists go, I don't really follow any. I have a playlist that I've posted before, so you may have checked that out already. I've been slacking lately, but I usually add a lot of songs from albums I've posted here. A search on Spotify for Ska Punk, Traditional Ska, Ska Jazz, etc should bring up some playlists to check out I would think. Sorry I don't have any specific ones to tell you to listen to.

Really enjoying the abraskadabra album, my favorite kind of ska punk.

So my city announced their 19th annual ska festival this summer.

http://victoriaskafest.ca/

Stoked to see the Bosstones again and really looking forward to checking out Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra, they sound great. I've never heard of the other artists.

If anyone is planning on making the trip up here let me know.

Looks like a great show. I really like Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and Kingston Rudieska. I also liked the few songs I've heard from The Phonosonics. Would definitely love to see Western Standard Time. From the videos I've seen of them, they look like they would put on an awesome show.

Popes of Chillitown have a new album "Work Hard, Play Hard, See You In The Graveyard" coming out on May 4th. They released one song from the album Get Off/Get On. Sounds great. Be sure to check out their last two albums To the Moon and A Word to the Wise if you haven't yet. Some great high energy ska/punk.

Call Me Malcolm - There is no "I" in Apocalypse

These guys are coming out with an album april 6th, and if the rest of the album is even close to being as good as this song, it will join The JB Conspiracy - The Storm as some of the best ska-punk to have been released in the last 10 years.

Edit: I should maybe qualify this by saying it's 3rd Wave Ska that I'm talking about.

I have to admit, that just isn't my speed in terms of taste. It feels a little vanilla. I prefer the Capdown/Filaments/leftover crack style, though I have completely lost touch with where that sound is at the moment. Can't believe Pound for the Sound came out 17 years ago...

Edit, don't mean to be crappy on taste, it just feels like I've seen and heard better ska punk from local bands over the years

Edit 2 - just seen your edit, production-wise it sounds great. That's where a lot of bands fall apart, the bands I've been in included.

I like it. These guys really tightened up their sound, even from that short EP they released a couple years ago. Looking forward to checking it out.

The sound is still out there. Don't keep up with it too much myself, but here's a few bands that might scratch that itch.
Dead Rejects
Escape From The Zoo
the Stupid Stupid Henchmen
Thee Infidels

Welcome back to the thread. I think this one gets lost in the Hangouts section. Don't think many people browse that so smaller communities like this one get lost in the shuffle. Might have to ask again to see if I can get the thread moved over EtcetEra to get some more visibility. Here's a few more recommendations

Love the music from Asian Man Records!

MI0000059679.jpg
I listened to so much stuff from Asian Man records back in the day. That and stuff from Moon Ska. So much good music came from those labels. Jump Up has/had tons of great bands too. Probably going to listen to some Skankin' Pickle today now that you bring them up. Listened to the Green Album and Live more times than I can count.

Followed! I didn't know about this thread, thanks to linking to it from the Streetlight thread in OT. Found some really interesting bands in here already I'll need to listen to more tonight after work.

Going to add some songs by one of my favourite bands, Five Iron Frenzy, which I posted in the other thread. Although they have mostly moved away from more traditional 3rd wave ska, they have one song on their most recent album "Engine of a Million Plots" that's more of a traditional ska/reggae song:

And here is just a great rock with horns song:

Welcome polyphoria! Even though they moved away from ska, I still really liked their last album. Reese has such a great voice. Our Newest Album Ever! was definitely the one I've listened to the most. That one was in constant rotation back in the day.

Also, looks like a ton of my images are now broken :( Guess the forum updated broke them or something? Could be that Post Image site I used before imgur had their https stuff worked out also.

The Holophonics new album Phantom Arrival came out today. Some might know them from a lot of their cover albums. This one is all original material, and while I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it real close yet, what I've heard is pretty damn fantastic.

Edit: Yeah, little over halfway through this album on a second listen and it's really damn good. The horns are on point and the band just rocks the fuck out. Can't wait to get a chance to blast this album real loud.

Let's not forget that there is a RBF and Hepcat re-issue coming out around that time as well!
Ah yes, I do keep forgetting about that one for some reason. Any release date mentioned yet? I also feel like I'm forgetting about another album or two coming out soon.

I did not hear about the Hepcat re-issue though. That's great to hear. Looking it up, I'd love to hear those dub versions of the albums. I wonder if they ever plan on making a new album. I know they've been playing shows here and there for a while. Would love to get something new from them.

I think Hepcat is in June and RBF is in July. The Hepcat record is Out of Nowhere. They already released Right on Time last year. Hopefully they will release the other two soon. As far as a new Hepcat record? Man, I don't know. I'd love to see it but I've heard nothing.

Maybe The Lions will release a new album. They're mostly reggae so it's not really like Hepcat, but Deston Berry and Alex DĂ©sert are both in the band so that's something.

What did you think of the remastered Aquabats! record?
Saw it was up on Spotify, but haven't listened to much of it. I saw there was a 1 or 2 songs added though. I'll give it a listen today. Fury is a such a great album. I did see that Baron Von Tito came back to play a few songs with them for the anniversary show. Damn I would have loved to be there for that.

Rumor has it that both the reunion show and the Back to the Beach festival were recorded for later use.

My meager ska collection...
Very nice start. Some great stuff in there. Sometimes I really want to start a vinyl collection, but I know I'd end up spending way too much money on one.

I definitely need to check out that Brooklyn Attractors album you've got there. I've only listened to the Live in NYC album which I really like.

JumpUp! Records and Asian Man Records are two places I go to regularly for music. Both Brooklyn Attractor records were purchased via JumpUp! And yes, you'll spend money! Two of those Hepcat records are original pressings, and about a third of my collection is now out of print.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones released a song from their upcoming album that comes out June 15th. Song is called Wonderful Day for the Race.

Probably should have mentioned this weeks ago, but Melbourne Ska Orchestra has been putting a song out every week for the year. It's all cover songs and they seem to have a theme change every 3 months. First three months was classic ska songs and this block is TV/Movie theme songs such as Star Wars, Dr. Who, Game of Thrones, Family Guy and more.

They also have a Spotify playlist that they update every week. Check it out.

Sorrow was such a weird choice for Mad Caddies to cover, but I dig it.

Bosstones were awesome in concert (as were Caddies and the Interrupters) a couple weeks ago at Camp Punk in Drublic.

Even got to hear Rancid dig into "And Out Come the Wolves" for some classic ska/punk.

She's Kerosene is a great song and it's nice to see The interrupters doing well.

I know they don't play ska anymore, but The Aquabats have a kickstarter for a new album and new episodes for their TV show that some people might be interested in checking out.

Kill Lincoln just put out a re-release of their Good Riddance to Good Advice record on vinyl with a completely new b-side. It's really, really good.
