Sound to me like a trolly comment he said out of nowhere. Has he ever teased a game like this?

That's what the trailers and the press are for, to inform people of what they are going to buy
You'll see link flying in the trailers, fighting giant bosses and so on. Then people will buy the game and see that the flying area is no better than a level select zone in a 3D Mario game.

SS HD before WW or TP is a bad idea if they want new Zelda fans to buy all the ports, as after SS they won't be so sure about buying an old Zelda game.

Hope this is true. Game has the best combat and puzzles of any Zelda in a long while.

I also wonder if it'll be like Wind Waker HD or Twilight Princess HD in terms of how obvious the upgrade is.
Best dungeon too.

Again, people aren't that stupid

No thanks, a TP/WW style HD version wouldn't come close to the full blown rework SS needs to be anything other than the least enjoyable 3D Zelda.

I doubt that matters, the next Mario game on Switch is the hated New Super Mario bros u.

New Super Mario Bros. U is hated? I think a lot of people are tired of the NSMB formula, but the consensus seems to be that it's by far the best in the NSMB series and on many levels one of the best 2D Mario games ever.

wtf lol

Now BOTW fans don't want Skyward Sword fans to even be allowed to play a remake? Relax, people aren't dumb and most of them will enjoy going through a great game. :)

It's definitely a game people love or hate. The later are way more vocal about it

If they remove the constant tutorials and the textbubbles that pop up every time you do something i would love this

The problem is everything that's not the sand area (outside the ancient cistern). The lava area is fucking awful, the way you have to hunt down things again and again with no end in sight is awful. Remember when you unlocked the timegate and...had to collect more shit? And oh god the Banjo Kaooie music notes.
The bossfights were awful outside of Koloktos, especially the repeated Girahim and Imprisoned fights. And that Scorpion... so lame.
The combat was lame as hell because throughout the whole game the only thing that changed was how many ways enemies get to block your attacks. No item use in fights, nothing.
Let's not lose too many words on the sky. Plain awful.
Phi's constant bullshit talking of solving puzzles for you and telling you about your battery life (the fuck?)

The only stellar things about this game are the timeshift stones, the ancient cistern and the silent realms (and some more dungeons had some cool design ideas I guess). The rest was mediocre to awful padding.

I'll never get how people can prefer this to other 3D Zeldas. The absolute low point of the series. Wind Waker was unfinished and too easy and still managed to do way more things better than this slog.

For me, any comment about pacing, linearity, handholding, too much text, etc is worse with its predecessor Twilight Princess, and SS was actually better about these things.

If SS suffers these criticisms more, it's only because more people got sick of these problems down the line.

VGA announcement incoming? I feel like they could do a port for it next year, to go with their yearly Zelda releases.

There won't be a collection because Nintendo would never bundle HD collection remasters of games. This is the same company that thought that bare bones Twilight Princess HD was worth the same amount in 2016 as the original version was in 2006.

I loved the controls but the backtracking and overworld killed it for me. Coming off the back of Skyrim was particularly brutal. They're pretty key to the games overall design too so I'm not sure how they'd be able to fix it.

Agreed completely. TP is a worse game in just about every respect to me.

Yeah okay I'm down for that. If people think it won't get refined as did Ww and TP you are kiddin yourselves. I also think SS would he an in house remaster akin to WW thanks to the motion controls in comparison to TP which was a 3rd Party remaster. If I had to guess the small changes would be:
-Seamless diving to the overworld. No cutscene and texture under the clouds, you jump straight into the overworld and can fly back in an instant at the cloud breaches.
-The 2nd Act has you learning the 3 Songs of the Goddesses right off the bat, allowing you to forge the Master Sword however you want.
-The 3rd Act has the overworld connect itself, allowing you to gain the Song of the Hero Without you returning to Skyloft each and every time.
-Maybe cut one of the Imprisoned Fights.

Man I'm sorry as much as I loved this game on Wii, there's just no going back to that formula after BotW for me. It would just feel archaic.

Oh, jesus. Do you not play retro games at all? Skyward Sword isn't even old let alone retro. So I can't imagine what you think of actual retro games. Sounds like sad times to me.

It's not that I don't want them to play it, the problem is about them wanting to buy other old Zelda ports after it. If they see there's nothing of BOTW in SS, which has completely different design philosophy and gameplay, they'll have no motivation to buy WW, TP or even the 64 games when they are ported.

The best path for new fans would be:
Botw
V
WW (open world elements, introduction to OOT dungeon design)
V
TP (focus on OOT dungeon design, retains epic feel)
V
OOT (old school TP, the origin of the 3D Series)
V
MM (a more linear puzle/less open take on OOT)
V
SS (even more linear puzle than MM, with almost no feeling of adventure).

Puzzles? Sure. (Except when Phi spoils them for you because the devs thought you had the mental capacity of a toddler) Timeshift stones were genius though and I was a bit bummed out when they didn't return for BotW.

Combat? Fuck no. Slow paced, monotous garbage that never improved throughout the entire game or tried to put some twists to it. When the most outstanding exception in combat is you having to throw a bomb and then thrust your sword instead of striking you know they fucked up. Oh and that enemy you had to strike in a specific way or the heads will grow back. Which you have to fight like 2 times.
I'm not even complaining about the motion controls themselves, just how utterly boring the combat mechanics are.
"Oh no...the skeleton has only ONE opening now. Whatever will I do?"

Wind Waker HD was done by Nintendo. Twilight Princess HD was done by Tantalus. I can see Skyward Sword HD done by Nintendo.

It's got an amazing soundtrack and visual design, but I have to say it is the antithesis of BOTW and my least favourite 3D zelda.

That would be great, it's one of my favorite Zelda games but I just tried playing it again a couple of weeks ago and seeing it blown up on my new 4K tv (I had only played it on a tiny 720p tv before) was extremely rough. But it does have a gorgeous artstyle and it could use some QoL improvements, like removing some of the tutorials or the constant explanations for any new object you find in a session. I wonder how they'll handle the motion controls though. Hopefully better than the touch screen stuff in The World Ends With You.

I know people complain about padding and filler, but there's not a single gameplay portion I'd like cut. The return to the first dungeon, stealth mission, escort mission, minecarts, all of those may seem lame from a story prespective but are super fun to play. Tadtones are the worst part, and even those are enjoyable. So I have no idea how they'd improve the pacing like they did for Wind Waker.
