Yeah no shit. I remember when Avatar Land opened there was a line just to enter the damn area! Once inside there was another line for everything else inside like the rides, restaurants and stores. Disney had to close access to the area at some points because of how crowded it was and wouldn't let more people get in until people already inside got out. It was pandemonium and for Star Wars it will be worse.

I still have yet to get on Flight of Passage.. Despite being an Annual Passholder since 2017 (though I live in CT so that doesn't help).

They need MaxPass like Disneyland Resort. It is a game changer.

We were at WDW in October of last year. We ended up at Flight of Passage 3 minutes before posted gate opening time, and it was a 50 minute wait. After we were out of the ride, it was already 120 minute wait.

That said, as much as I don't really care about Avatar, Flight of Passage was pretty rad.

Orlando opening weekend is going to be so crazy. Disney moved up the Gator Hurricanes game on ESPN a whole week to have complete control of Orlando for two weekends. I'll prob go the following Tuesday or an annual passholdee event

I was able to make my reservation today.
For anyone wanting to check out Galaxy's edge, I would say make a reservation, now is the best time since they won't allow anyone in without a reservation during the first 24 days of opening. 4 hour limit plus no fast pass.
After that, all hell breaks loose.
I'm so excited!
You mean 4 hour limits of staying inside the general Galaxys Edge area? How will the control that people past their time slot don't linger for longer inside?

I'm pretty sure these come from the lessons learned from when Avatar Land opened in WDW.

How do you get in line for a ride 3 minutes before the park even opened? I'm so confused. Were you in a Disney hotel enjoying early Magic Hours?

Right a 4 hour limit inside Galaxy's edge. I don't know how they'll enforce it but even the confirmation mentions that once your time slot is up you'll have to leave the area.

While we were staying on resort, it was not an extra magic hours day for AK. They were actually letting people in specifically to go line up in Avatar World before official park opening.

I was able to get a reservation for June 1st at Disneyland for me and my whole family. Tried for opening day on May 31st but reservations ran out right when I got through queue. I'm curious how they will kick people out when their time is over. All the time slots overlap. I have 2-6 pm, but the session before ends at 3, and the one after starts at 5.

Rope drop is park lingo for getting there ahead of the opening time, sorry for using that stuff vs more standard terms.

edit: the idea being that you can "walk onto" super popular rides if you get there early enough.
You mean lingering at the front gate waiting for the park to open so you can run to the ride and be one of the first to get on them and avoid big lines right? Then if someone got 3 minutes early why still a 50 min waiting time? Did everyone else ran while they'd walk there?

what they are saying I think is that they got there 3 minutes before the official park open and there was a line in front of them of people who got there even earlier in order to be in line for the attraction.

thus, even though they got there 3 minutes before park open, the line in front of them equated to 50 minutes for that ride.

that's just my interpretation though.

And there was still a 50min waiting time that early and without the general park being open? Wow

But yeah I would've killed for a 50min waiting time for the Harry Potter ride I did when it was new.

PRO TIP: if you ever visit Tokyo Disney Resort over there they close the rides before the park officially closes so the lines are finished more or less at the same time as park is scheduled to close down. Meanwhile in Orlando (the Disney parks I were used to) the lines close the moment the park closes and then they let the lines deplete even if that happens an hour or so after park closes.

I did NOT know this and when we got there a full hour before the park was to close the Tower of Terror's line was already closed and we had to implore a cast member to let us in and pull the "it's our honeymoon and last day in Japan" card (which, for the record, was 100% true btw) which worked after some pleading and they did let us in but through a side door and not before adorably wishing us a happy honeymoon. It was pretty awesome and I would've been devastated if I went all the way there and not get to ride the Japanese Tower of Terror.

Oof that sucks about the overlapping, only allowing 2 hour window to enjoy your time.
Now I'm happy I chose 8 am so the only time overlapping is the 11 am group. I'll probably be at the cantina by then.

I saw someone say that they will have color coded wristbands or badges that you will have to show to enter any attraction or even shops. Then they will deny entry and instruct you to leave galaxys edge if your time is out. So you could technically stay in there for as long as u want, but cant do anything.

Not sure if thats true, but could work.

Prices for all merchandise in Disney's Galaxy's edge have just been released as of yesterday.
Saabis workshop lightsabers will be $200
The legacy lightsabers will range from $109-129.99 not including the blade which is $34 or $49 depending on the length.

They also have a bunch of Limited edition stuff at $400 but details aren't so clear on what it is.

The cantina will have a special mug you can buy at $44 or a porg mug for $39

So if you want to go and buy a gift expect to go broke.

That's how they used to control swim times at the pool when I was a kid. You got a color coded rubber wristband with a little "pocket" to put your locker key in. Every "hour" depending on what time your band was issues, they'd whistle for "Blue, GTFO" - of course, there's no way a sneaky council estate kid could ever defeat security of that magnitude...

$200 for a lightsaber is really not that unreasonable. $40 for a mug is pretty ridiculous though.

Is there a list of everything that is currently available? What lightsabers will they have?

Not quite true about staying in the area for as long as you want. I recall reading something about the Stormtroopers doing patrols around the area for people wearing the wrong coloured arm bands. If you don't leave voluntarily, you're escorted out by the first order. (Presumably if you complain to the actors in the suits then they'll have park security on standby too.)

Woof, I knew the souvenirs weren't going to be cheap, but that's a pretty penny for a lightsaber.

I'm still tempted to get one though, the build quality of the prototypes they showed at Celebration looked fantastic.

I did see a legit the fighter helmet will run $400+ while an official kylo Ren helmet is $700

Apparently it's not even Savis. It's Savi's.

I assume these lightsabers have some sort of plastic cilíndrelo coming out of its hilt where the light would turn on inside, yes?

I got in for a preview earlier this week. I tried very hard not to spend all my money in there and managed to get out with only a new Monkey Lizard on my shoulder.
The next thing that tempted me most was the R3X bluetooth speaker because I love that theme park character, but it was 150 bucks so I tore myself away.
Of course they also got my money in the cantina and at the milk stand.

I checked out just about everything there except for the inside of the saber building shop. Line was long and we prioritized the cantina instead so I'll have to see that one next time.

Even the bathrooms are star wars themed.

Honestly it's really disappointing how this land is entirely focused only on the sequel trilogy era. They don't even have prequel or original trilogy characters walking around, apart from Chewbacca.

No Luke, Vader, or Obi-Wan. It's weird.

What does the milk taste like?
It's fruity. And really good. More of a fruit smoothie than "milk" but pleasant. And pretty expensive per cup, but that's to be expected inside Disney.
Our group tried both the blue and the green milk. Everyone liked both but the blue was the winner of the taste test. Blue is more mild and green is more tropical.
The standard milk stand outside actually sells the frozen variety (basically same consistency as a smoothie). You only find the nonfrozen variety of blue milk inside the cantina, which is basically the same thing but not icy. Like you left your smoothie in the fridge and it's still cold but it's no longer icy.

I wanted to get more on the way out but by then the line was pretty long so we took a pic in front of Kylo's shuttle instead and left.

Even inside? So many bathrooms at Disney World appear to be themed from the outside but once you're inside they're like every other restrooms in the park.

Yeah. Of course the toilets and urinals themselves were normal but the dressing around them was all rustic and angular shapes. Nothing too extravagant but an effort was made. Where you wash your hands is one big metal tub with a bunch of pipes coming out.

Well...Hondo runs the Millennium Falcon attraction, and he hails from the Prequel/Clone era.

That's true. I guess that is the one exception. And it's certainly a weird exception. I just wish the whole land was more representative of the franchise as a whole, especially the OT which is unarguably the most popular and well known in regards to characters, locations, and set pieces. Dedicating it almost entirely to the sequel era feels weird.

While the land is indeed set in the sequel time period, don't forget that Hondo is the main character of the Falcon attraction and the meat in the market is getting roasted by a podracer engine. So while it largely stars sequel characters, the past is acknowledged in a few areas. The general decor feels very OT inspired, and the market specifically feels very Phantom Menace.

But I'm not bothered by their decision with the walking characters. You still get storm troopers and imperial officers (excuse me, first order officers) marching around barking at guests, you got people in Endor camo directing lines, there's a full sized falcon and a full sized x-wing and the cantina looks like ANH and plays the jizz you'd expect it to. There's still OT and PT mixed into their ST trappings (as you'd expect).

You're just going to see Kylo walking around instead of Vader. But Vader can still be found over at Launch Bay.
And Kylo's entrance is pretty sweet because smoke starts pouring out of his shuttle's ramp and he comes out of it.

How was the Falcon ride?

It was worth it and the work put into the environment is amazing but the actual ride part could be better. The line leading up to it is pretty cool as far as lines go. Nice environments, and much of it is by windows that give you an eyeful of the full size falcon parked outside. Once you reach the final waiting area you're given boarding pass seat assignments, and are actually waiting inside the falcon (obviously not the one parked outside) in the room with the holochess. Then once your boarding assignment is called, you go down a hallway to enter the cockpit. Which feels a bit surreal.

Just imagine a Star Tours kind of ride except you can slightly affect what happens on screen and you get a score at the end. Me and my partner were both running on 3 hours of sleep and got pilot's duties so you can believe there was some crashing haha.
I think the addition of a game component is fun but I think the events happening on-screen in that game could be way more exciting than they are. I was expecting some run ins with things we know from the series, but the whole thing is basically just a train heist vaguely inspired by that scene in the Solo movie. I wish more familiar things and characters were incorporated into the ride like Star Tours does. Miscellaneous train heist is not very memorable.

The front two seats are pilots, one controls up/down and the other controls left/right. Second two seats I think are the gunners, back two seats are the engineers. Basically, the ride blinks lights to tell you what to press and you do it. But it was fun as hell to be a pilot because not only do you get blinky buttons, you also get control sticks.
I think the most fun seat is probably front right side. You get to control up/down and also pull the hyperdrive lever.
I got to pull that lever (you know the one) to activate the hyperdrive and then watch the stars swirl. My neckbeard grew three sizes that day (okay I don't have a neckbeard but you can take my meaning that this nerd was excited).

So I liked it but there's room for improvement. If they could redo the videogame portion to be a little more star toursy in its nostalgia indulgence that'd be swell. And multiple variants would be cool too if they don't have them already (I only went on it once so I wouldn't know).

How is the sound quality on that speaker? I'm thinking about it

The "Try Me" function on them didn't seem to work, don't know what that was about. Maybe there's a switch that needed to be switched to try me mode. So I have no idea how the speaker is.
While I managed to tear myself away and do my wallet a favor, I'm kind of regretting it because R3X is awesome.
I might try to ask someone to pick one up for me if anyone I know goes back soon.

Tauntaun drink at the cantina is the best tasting one and worth the money, while the jet juice is very strong but gets you where you need to go lol. I tried 2 others that were pretty meh.

The ride was star tours meets toy Story mania, and it's definitely not a ride for the quesy. The animatronic before the ride is great.

The best part of Edge is that it is actually very, very immersive. They spared no expense on atmosphere, it really does feel like another world. I wish there were more character interactions but maybe it was only because it was a cast member preview.

iirc the hilt is metal, the blade is plastic, it makes sounds and comes with the sleeve, and you put a kyber crystal into the hilt

If you do go soon and figure out the try me, come back here and let us know how is sounds. It's on my list as a potential buy for whenever I go back (someday) or someone I know goes back.

You can see my comments on the ride and the wait above, but the wait time was about 40 minutes. Not bad but I expect it to go higher when it's fully open to the public. Then maybe equalize down once the other ride opens, which is supposed to leave this one in the dust.

As far as I know, nobody was escorted out. The way it seemed to work is that places would just refuse to serve you after your designated time as indicated by your wristband. So in theory you could hang out in there all day as long as you didn't leave, but after a certain time you just couldn't do anything. You had to be personally responsible for your time. For instance, at ~11am I saw the cantina line refusing people with Noon-End wristbands because the wait time was longer than their remaining time.

Our time was about up when we were leaving the cantina after a few drinks, so we just politely left, as we had already seen the sights and would no longer be accepted at any activities.

Ah okay, didn't see that. My scheduled time is still before full public opening so it might be fine based on reservations. Did you happen to see the holocron prices? Do you think they're worth it? I'll definitely check back in here when it comes time

That's something I want more of as well. More walking characters, especially just a few misc aliens wandering around to enhance the mood. If we had some random aliens walking around the crowd it would add a lot. Except for the odd monkey lizard on a guest's shoulder, there weren't really any wandering "natives." And I think there needs to be. A couple stormtroopers near the entrance and the occasional Kylo cameo isn't enough to sell it. Throw a couple roaming astromechs in there at least.

But there were certain areas where I got the impression that they plan to do more with them later. Empty stages, covered lighting. Especially in that area where the second ride will open later this year. And I think I heard that employee casting is still ongoing.

So it might be that they're running on sort of a minimum crew right now and will add more over time as they roll the region out.

I saw the holocrons but I did not see the holocron prices as I was not interested in buying one. I just played around with one to check it out.
It's a neat little thing but it looks like it's basically just a plastic light box so whatever price they're charging probably isn't worth it to me, but it might be to you. I'd probably be more into it if it felt more premium in the hand.
