So, why is Grand Theft Auto V not on Switch yet?

Seems that they dont like nintendo somehow.
I mean they didnt release gta3 on the gamecube before. They didnt do any effort when wii was the most selling console. And now when we do see that tieth party ports are selling that well on switch, it isnt that they dont like money?

Even there other port for switchwas based on a playstation engine with as low effort as possible which makes the game runs like s*

F them

Also there isnt something like nintendo audience. Gta 5 is mainstream as hell. Wii en switch are both bought by mainstream people.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure that gtav will be on Switch soon. I think that the reason that isn't yet it's only for tempistic reason.

I think it´s time to drop the "too mature" argument, games like DooM, Wolfenstein or recently The Witcher 3 are amongst those games deemed mature in themes, story, presentation....yet they´ve been huge successes. It´s been more than proved that the audience is there if the product is good enough.

It's a card size thing, they don't, like alot of other big publishers, want to shell out for the larger cart sizes. It'll happen when those things drop in price.

The "Nintendo only allows family friendly titles" Is a tired and trite argument that never had anything of substance to it.

The excuse that "foul language" is the reason why a GTA game wouldn't be release on Nintendo hardware let alone GTA V, is paper thin.
I'm mean for example

Some of you folks aren't even trying with that archaic excuse.

The Houser Brothers have a long standing grudge against Nintendo and no longer have anyone they need to answer to.

They are basically the most important people at Take Two, no longer take orders from anyone and they don’t need Nintendo.

You will never see the Houser Brothers support their sworn enemy.
Nice, so now the houser brothers are joining the list of developer that HATE NINTENDO.

EA, Capcom, The Houser Brothers, who's next?

I’m guessing the actual issue is the online portion, which has been their money maker for a long while.

They probably don’t see an audience for it on Nintendo.

But honestly, 6 years later anyone who really wanted to play it has done so already.

Plus blank real stripper breasts in BMX XXX on gamecube, a phone sex game on switch with real adult movie stars in lingerie doggystyle on a bed, a HD rumble-enabled whole-body massage game on switch etc etc
Hell, even the N64 had incredibly gory (mace, biofreaks etc) and foul-language based (conker) games

GTA V on switch would absolutely sell well enough to justify the costs of making a port (including the online, even if it would have to be neutered). Not sure why they don’t make it

I think the main problem is the install size, as the switch onboard storage is too small so everyone needs to have an SD card.
The other big issue is that Rockstar don't look like they have the spare capacity to build and support it, given how long things like RDR 2 on PC took.

Seems like leaving easy money on the table not porting the last-gen version at least, unless they already tried doing that and encountered enormous technical issues. They could easily sell millions of copies with a straight X360/PS3 port even without the Online portion.

Considering stuff like DOOM and The Witcher 3, I doubt the Switch couldn't handle it with some adjustments. The Switch can handle more than the 7th gen consoles could, Rockstar probably just don't think it's worth the effort.

Still, I think even without the online it would sell a lot on the Switch. Having GTAV on the go is already a big selling point.
Witcher runs at 720 docked and 540 in handheld mode. Doom even less. GTA V is over 70GBs currently, i will never understand the obsession with wanting everything on the switch.

Pure unbridled stupidity. There is no good reason. Only bullshit reasons.

Case in point? Fucking GTA3. Vice City. San Andreas. GTAIV.

Everyone of these games provided they were optimized or remastered properly would sell a million plus easy. Even if they decided to be bastards like Capcom and charge $30.

But it seems the stupidity is not only at R*. EA and Activision are also completely batshit stupid for ignoring the console. No Call of Duty? No Madden? No Star Wars? Not even a remastered NBA Jam? Battlefield 4? Fucking James Bond?

Jackasses. Literal fucking Donkeys are running these companies. Fat donkeys.

Actually that's a disservice to the Donkey.

On era I often can't tell if stuff like this is real or a new pasta.

I hope for your sake it's the latter.

I think regardless of the game's actual content, the GTA brand is too associated with controversy and adult themes for Nintendo to feel comfortable putting it on their consoles again. They've expanded a lot in terms of letting mature games on their systems over the years, but I think this is one line they won't cross.
It's 2019, I'm sure this has nothing to do with the game's content.

Oh that reminds me, I own Manhunt 2 on Wii.

It's a glitched out mess of a bad game.

Based on the louder segments of some corners of the internet, that sort of result can be equated with something like the recent Witcher 3 port on Switch.

Anyone who thinks it isn't odd that the most popular, one of the fastest-selling, and the largest-selling game isn't on one of the upcoming platforms is out of their god-damn mind, to be honest.

Probably card size. "GTA V is too mature for Nintendo" is paradoxically a terribly immature argument.

And I will never understand people who don't get the importance of portability factor. Many people don't have the luxury of having free time at home, handhelds are blessing to them. It's the only way to finish time consuming games like The Witcher 3.

Simple. Storage size. GTA is almost 100gb
I installed it on my X yesterday and its 66GB, so not nearly as much as 100GB. Plus with lower quality assets and compression its easily do-able on Switch. Witcher 3 is 75GB with add-ons and that fits on a single 32GB cart on Switch. Size shouldn't be an issue IMO.

Plus if they cut online and do a SP only port its easily do-able on a 16GB cart

Ah I was going by pc version which I deleted the other day to free up almost 100gb. Still dont see any realistic way to get that down to 16gb without cutting massive chunks of the game out. Maybe if it was just the city.

It's likely not an issue with system spec or online infrastructure, Switch is perfectly capable of shouldering GTAV and GTA Online really and using the PS4/XBO assets probably. The issue is more likely storage and while the sensible solution would be to put the single player GTAV on the (probably 32GB) card and make Online an additional download but maybe Rockstar's not keen on splitting off their real moneymaker there?

I often wondered about this. GTA:O seems to be the best reason. NSO isn't so hot, and the sheer size of the updates would become an issue for the system.

It launched on Xbox 360 on two DVD discs so that barely scratches 16GB. I'd argue its a possibility at least.

Probably it doesn't seem worth the investment for Rockstar, comparing porting cost to estimated sales.

True, I kind of forget that games been kicking around for 2 gens now lmao. Though having said that it ran really bad on the old systems so maybe I forgot by choice

Memory bandwidth might be a big issue tbh. The Witcher 3 has the benefit of only having to stream content into memory for one player while Fortnite can tell which content to load (skins/emotes/etc.) prior to the Battle Royale match starting.

Meanwhile GTA Online has a shit ton of content and the game needs to attribute for streaming in a lot of content. Since R* dropped the last gen versions, most missions take place in the open world with other players as opposed to seperate instances with carefully scripted memory management, so while it would not be impossible for the Switch to pull that off, it'd be a behemoth of a task for Rockstar to get it running well.

Even PC/Consoles stutter in GTA Online sometimes simply because the game is too slow about loading in new content. Happened to me more times than once to be just driving in the low detail version of Los Santos cause GTA Online had trouble keeping up with content streaming.

Last gen version was much smaller (total around 20GB on 360 and around 30GB on PS3 iirc), the current gen or "enhanced edition" uses higher quality textures which drive up the filesize. The real bloat is from Online though which adds tons of stuff. GTAV was only 60GB when it launched on PC but now it's over 100GB.

For the same reason EA doesn't release a non-legacy edition FIFA on the Switch anymore: FUT didn't take off on Switch due to a lack of and difference in audience, and why bother releasing games if you can't make tens of millions in profit on the games' online portion? It's all EA and Take-Two care about these days.

Cartridge space is probably a huge reason for both GTAV and Online.

Edit: It's too early for some of y'all to fall for the "too mature" comments lol.

GTA V will never come to Switch. The chances for it came and it sailed long ago. Rockstar could easily release the single Player game on a 16GB cart and you had to download the rest of the Online portion from the Eshop.

They definitely could if they wanted but with GTAO and RDRO plus next gen coming up right around the corner I think they are well passed trying to port the game over to the Switch hopefully im wrong tho i'll still buy it for sure
