Apparently, they're Marxist-Leninist-Maoist?

They're armed guerilla, so I don't have a positive view towards them. Judging from the comment section of the videos, tons of other Filipinos have negative views though I'm seeing lots of very pro-Duterte comments.
With that said, Duterte haaaaatttttesss them, and his admin are now in hyper crackdown mode against them (more so than the previous administrations).

Colombia
Considering how Phillipines is right now, I can't blame them for forming this, but from what I have seen in my own country (Colombia), they will never have a favorable image, and will be mostly be composed of tankies. At best, in a couple of years, a peace treaty will be made, maybe based on our own peace treaty with the FARC guerrilla, and will be able to open up democracy and push Phillipines towards a more socialist country.

Quite difficult, Congress here hasn't even passed the reforming laws that would change the causes that started the guerrilla in the first place.

"Know what we need in the Philippines? The same type of revolution we saw in Cambodia and Peru."

Carving out their own autonomous enclaves to handle shit themselves, fine. But when they start spouting useless jargon like "strategic equilibrium" and "strategic offensive" you know it's time to get the fuck out.

The current run of the NPA have been existing for 50 years now (started with the reign of the Dictator Marcos) with its roots being from way before.

The closest they've had with having a peace deal was with Duterte but after a few months, the peace talks fizzled out and Duterte was now like "hunt down all those red terrorists!"

Sanders is just a social democrat and yet the thread about is candidacy already is a shitshow. Sometimes I really lose hope for this board

Just wait until we're in the teeth of the primaries.

It's super easy for me to say this from America but I don't think I can stomach a leftist insurrection in a southeastern Asia in 2019 with the potential to pull America in it. (I know about American military advisor already)
I'm already super conflicted on whether socialism can be peacefully introduced in a capitalist system, among other things that bother the hell out of me at night. I don't even know if a violent revolution goes contrary to Marxism and how it would implemented in any country.

I find it interesting how there are people who are very critical of Bernie who also happens to be very critical of Jeremy Corbyn.

It's kind of a miracle that AOC exists.
With that in mind...

Bernie is sumltaneously the most popular politician in America and has the highest (or second highest, I forget) unfavorables among Democrats for potential 2020 candidates. He's polarizing.

Yeah but i kinda figured at this point that people were willing to concede that the whole Hillary Clinton thing that took place in 2016 was a terrible idea from the start but apparently plenty of people still blame Bernie for ir

That thread must be by someone I have on ignore (highly recommended feature), because I haven't seen it. But it should be comforting to keep in mind that anti-Bernie cultism is most probably relegated to a loud minority on the internet, which is full of people who (thankfully) have no idea how to organize and to whom politics is just calling people stooges and voting every couple years. I have never met a person in real life who actively dislikes Bernie that isn't a right winger.

The reaction this is getting among many liberals is kind of confusing to me, but only because I'm not sure if they didn't know Shaun was socialist or if it's because they literally don't understand what communism is and therefore can't imagine someone further to the left than AOC.

tbh the one poll I think you're referring to is actually an extreme outlier given his polling history. literally every other poll I've seen on Bernie's favorability with Democrats since December 2016 has his fav/unfav at around 80/10, give or take a few points

maybe it's a difference in the questions asked, or sampling methodology, or maybe it's actually a trend. I'm guessing the former, but we'll see

As far as I'm concerned in 2019, if you're not totally worried about America being on collision course with an military intervention in Venezuela, then you're a imperialistic neoliberal and if you aren't condemning this collision course from here on in, maybe I don't vote for you in the democratic presidential primaries because I want less American interventions and not more? if such a thing is possible

It's important to keep a cool head in these discussions, it almost seems that some posters like to put words in one's mouth in order to frame a poster as a bad person. Just in another thread about the wall, someone was already framing me as wanting money for border control, all with a snarky post and all.

It's getting obvious that we're being stamped out one-by-one. The dream goal for ERA's administration is trying to make an HQ for centre-left types that wouldn't dare think of criticizing the bourgeoise liberalism that got us into this political hell.

Shit, even GAF wasn't afraid to push back on neolib bullshit when Bernie was running.

I've been busy moving and totally missed the thread about Bernie running. I've decided it would be best for me if I don't read it, lol.

I dunno, I took like a two year hiatus between gaf and finally joining era and era seems objectively more leftist to me.

There's a sentiment in that thread like "well don't you want your lawmakers to know law", which is reasonable on the surface but there's a whole host of issues with the formation of an implicit, elite ruling class in society that's just impossible to convey on twitter to conservative heads.

I really want to attempt to sometimes but eh, I can barely talk about complex stuff in this forum without tearing my hair out. People are really stubborn, I relearn that lesson every day.

Hey, guys, remember the story posted a few weeks ago about that blood startup selling the blood of the youth? I made a thread expanding on that. Long story short-- they got the blood from teens under false pretenses, they undersell the risks, upsell the benefits, and they're not the only ones-- others are resorting to some really scummy tactics to sell medical trials for hundreds of thousands of dollars. All that shit is peak Late Capitalism, and relevant to the interests of this sub so I figured I'd post it here as well, especially since it kinda got buried.

We accidentally turned the democratic primary thread into marxist dialectic for about one page, then the warnings came out for thread derails.
