Gotta love this party unity coming from the Dem party. Better not hear crying from establishment Dems when they get primaried by progressives for being terrible at their job.

This will only make her more popular to her voters

Justice Dems who Omar is a part of are also seeking primary challengers to many Dems? Does Omar criticize them?

Whataboutism. What is driving this view that made you think of the argument that this primary challenge is ok because the justice dems do the same to those who are as bad as republicans. Would love to hear your view

It's been absolutely disgusting how the democrats have treated her but sadly not surprising.

It really, truly sucks that the Democrats are the only viable non-Republican party, because as an organization they're staggeringly incompetent. "At least we're not the GOP" is not enough anymore, and if they're going to rip one of their own to shreds over a comment they didn't even understand, then they're no good to any of us.

If her constituency supports her then it won't matter anyway. Let them try and be embarrassed

Can we get a list of names as to who's doing this? I always hear scary stories about establishment dems but I never know who specifically to turn my ire to or if they're from my state.

Also careful not paint with too broad a brush because as the article states it is "some state democrats" trying to find a challenger.

None of the people quoted in this article are state or national Democratic leaders. One of the people quoted backed one of Omar's rivals in the last primary! And the article even notes that she has DFL's backing, which is way bigger (and more representative) establishment Democratic support than a couple people grumbling to a Hill reporter.

Are you all forgetting the Justice Dems have been threatening establishment Dems with getting primaried since they were elected? Of course they were going to fight back eventually. The whole reason the Dems criticised primarying in the first place is so this doesn't escalate into situations like this. What did you honestly expect to happen here?

Omar's latest scandals may have been the last straw as AIPAC put a target on her back.

There were many Democrats who won last year. Can you name a single one that ran and won on a message of "hey, at least I'm not a Republican"?

Do you have any credible sources that Pelosi's behind this? I don't like her involvement with AIPAC any more than you do, but quoting that here is not winning an argument.

Nobody is actually reading the article.
It's all people in Minnesota, and only one person quoted is a politician that said he considered running against her for all of one minute.
Everyone else is a democrat in the context of being a voter and supporter of the Democrat party.

Ehh, it feels more like "DEMS INFIGHTING" news-bait that politico/the hill loves to oush.

Although it took them getting dragged literally kicking and screaming fro, a self inflicted wound to get there, the way the wagons circled around Omar has me feeling that the party might actually get it.

So happy to see the Dems focusing on infighting and silencing someone that could actually add some much needed energy / new voters into the party. Not like we have a president who is putting feelers out about starting a dictatorship in the event he takes a loss in 2020...

it is pathetic watching them actually spring into action for the absolutely wrong reasons.

So it's not even the state party but some State Senators trying to pull this.

A part of the challenge in fielding a competitor, Minnesota Democrats said, is that Omar is likely to win the endorsement of the state DFL, which comes with access to voter lists and data that unendorsed candidates do not receive.

Evil establishment at it again.

So we get mad when the national party squashes some primary challenges and are ok with it some other times? If someone wants to primary Omar, let them.
I think intent is always a important factor, but considering Omar has the support of DFL and her constituents she'll be fine.

That, some non-political affiliate quotes, and a few sprinkled quotes from associates to candidates that ran against her.
Doesn't sound like a groundswell of opposition to me.

I feel like adding 'Minnesota Democrats' to the title would be helpful. Also a computer lab comma somewhere.

Primary her all you want but the whole basis for them to do it is because they say she's an antisemite, disengenous as hell. Also I'm all for progressives to primary the fuck out of center Democrats in blue districts.

This is why the Democrats can't accomplish anything. This is why the average person thinks both sides are the same. This is why progressives will have to fight Democrats to keep them from doing the easy thing over the right thing. This is why younger people lose hope. So much stupidity and privilege in the Democrat leadership.

Again, this isn't the DCCC or the DFL doing this. It's in the article!

It's so transparent.
You'd think if Pelosi really wanted to silence Omar she'd strip her of her committee post, or formally censure her, or specifically call out Omar in an anti-Semitism resolution rather than broaden it to distance Omar from it. All things she has the power to do.

Can you guys, like, fucking read the article? So many jumping in here to get their 'Dems in disarray' takes in and paint this as an establishment hit job by Pelosi and the establishment centrist Dem leadership...when the only Dems even attached to this story are just a couple state figures, one of whom already supported a challenger against Omar last year.

Can this put to bed the whole stupid "purity tests!' thing? Everyone has their own lines in the sand and interests that they don't want to compromise on. Centrists are no different here, they're perfectly happy to eat the Left if the Left does something that isn't in their interest just as the reverse is the case. We should be debating the merits of exactly what is causing the conflict of interest instead of trying to quash all criticism you don't like with "but we shouldn't be fighting between us, let's just come together now." Both groups will clearly go after each other if they don't like something the other has done.

It's why "Dems in disarray" sticks so well.

Probably cause she doesn't want it to look too blatant. Like pretending the bill wasn't really about her is laughable.
