A commenter on reddit noticed they're the same coordinates that are displayed in the pelican:

Cortana has taken a physical form to empower fan fiction.Cortana is now fused to the Chief. He no longer puts a chip in, she is part of him now, hence the audio clip about being in a body.
Am I listening to a different Audio clip? When does it mention being in a body?Cortana is now fused to the Chief. He no longer puts a chip in, she is part of him now, hence the audio clip about being in a body.

This seems to hint at Chief getting either a new Cortana or some fragment of Cortana.
Considering that, in Discover Hope, the AI chip registers as a "weapon containment device", it's perhaps possible that the UNSC/Halsey's plan is to create a new Cortana & insert it into the old one, which would explain the dialogue here. Maybe their "weapon" is the new Cortana either overwriting or overloading the old one.
My first thought. Those were the days :)

The marketing for Halo 5 was amazing. I can't wait to see what comes of this (if its an ARG).
Thanks for doing what I couldn't! Got any idea what this might mean? Or just a nice little easter egg?x 0.0082711

If I've done this right (fingers crossed 😬), converting XYZ coordinates to standard LLh coordinates (using this), and assuming it's Earth: It's basically pointing close to the north pole and then down toward the center of the earth. The final destination being about 14 kilometers shy of the center of the Earth.
89°59'59.9"N 72°15'19.2"W
6356.75 kilometers deep
Don't know. Not much to go on and can only guess. Whatever Cortana seems to have found, it might be at the center of the earth...? Maybe there's some forerunner shit down there. Or I could be down the wrong rabbit hole entirely. Thanks for doing what I couldn't! Got any idea what this might mean? Or just a nice little easter egg?
While I definitely agree that Halo 5's marketing sold us a game that we didn't really get I feel like that might be a by-product of the rumor that they changed the villain of Halo 5 during the last year of development.
Didn't make it any less entertaining to listen to. Especially the first HuntTheTruth.
About this "Cortana is a real person" business: Those footsteps are way too heavy to be Cortana (opinion), you hear an energy sound similar to her coming online in Halo 4/Forward Unto Reach.
My take on the voice clip is that Chief finds a tiny splinter of Cortana somewhere where it shouldn't be (possibly within his suit's systems or within the Halo matrix). Fan reaction to evil Cortana was so negative that I could see them trying to redeem her (or maybe it was always the plan?) by having a good vs evil Cortana fight. We'll of course help in someway by hitting switches or shooting stuff.

It's claimed that Halsey, not Cortana, was originally meant to set off the events of Halo 5. Halsey feels a similar mother-like role as Cortana to not only John (Master Chief) but also the other Spartan-II's. It's claimed that it was changed because the fanbase/community wasn't a fan of how 343i had been treating Cortana in extended media (i.e making her out to be some kind of villain). It could have been that in the original plot for Halo 5 that Master Chief's status was a lot more iffy.
Though, its only a rumor. Though I would have liked to see that version over bringing Cortana back from the dead and turning her into a villain. Halsey has always operated in this grey area where she does what she thinks is right for the future of mankind while ignoring the morality of it all.
I don't know how they can fix the story after 4 and 5. I just hope the gameplay and multiplayer is good.
They still have to deal with evil Cortana and I couldn't be less excited about that. The campaign structure will probably be different enough and fun though.
It's not. The story is being written as a jumping in point, but it's still a follow up to Halo 5.
Actions speak louder than words and its hard to deny her actions aren't evil in outcome. Like the saying goes "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."I never looked at Cortana as evil per se. I felt she was misguided in a tragic villain sort of way. She thinks she is helping.
Isn't that a soft reboot? It's not. The story is being written as a jumping in point, but it's still a follow up to Halo 5.
It's still a direct follow up to the plot of Halo 5. A lot of sequels are written to be jumping in points.
Yea, that's why its a soft reboot and not a reboot. Anyway its just semantics. On topic, I wonder if more easter eggs are in the trailer...hmm.It's still a direct follow up to the plot of Halo 5. A lot of sequels are written to be jumping in points.
Hope so.Maybe this will be the beginning of redeeming Cortana from what 343 has done to her.
The marketing for that game confuses me, did the folks doing the trailer just want to make something cool with Locke hunting down chief, or was the story more like that during earlier development? who knows i guess, except 343.
