Wasn't necessarily expecting this to invoke the usual racist/homophobic/bigotry defense force under the guise of "#notallrepublicans," but that was naive.

Good stuff.

I don't know anything about this guy, but happy to see someone different to win an award/recognition.

OK, real talk.

SonicFox is an amazing person, but under no circumstances should anyone follow him on Twitter if they aren't super comfortable with Furry porn. NSFW all day, every day.
Thanks for the heads up. Totally gonna support this dudes streams from now on then. Fucking telling it to the whole God damn industry. Brave as fuck. Thank you Mr. SonicFox.

I'll be honest, I'm not really a fan of the whole furry thing so I was expected this dude to be really lame or something. This dude seems really fucking awesome though, glad he won.

I think I've seen SonicFox before. You'd think he'd be easy to remember, but I really don't follow eSports at all. Congrats to him and awesome speech!

To think he was originally a DOA player overshadowed by his brother in that game

Literally started from the bottom now he all the way up!

Moment of the show for me so far. Thoroughly disappointed by the thinly veiled furryphobia that followed in the Game Awards thread.

He is good and precious. Also, he is right in his call-out.

Only half the country voted at all in the last Presidential election. At most 25% to 30% of the country voted for him. If you continue to support the GOP you support bigoted policy, climate change denial and so on. They're the party of regressive thought and the ugliest parts of America. You are what you eat? Well you are what you vote for.
Yes and/or people who accept racism and bigotry.
okay, sorry, I'm from Canada but go to the USA alot. I'm pretty sure I've met a bunch of Trump voters of different ethnicities who seemed like pretty regular people. Wasnt Hillary against gay rights and marriage ,too or did I misread that in the news. Sorry for any derailment , It seems like American voters had some pretty poor choices this time around. This is all from a Canadian perspective so I'm sorry if i'm off base

Yes!!! I'm super happy SonicFox won he is awesome at what he does and I love how comfortable he is in his own skin. The dude is a genuinely nice guy who donates a lot of his winnings to charities.

Also, Screw republicans for voting for people that are racist, sexiest, and homophobic.

They have been pretty busy these last few days between the David Jaffe and Boogie threads, so I'm not that surprised that someone calling them out was gonna lure a couple of them over.

Sonicfox, if you read this, I just want you to know that you are my hero and you give me hope for this hobby. You're the best, my guy!

Yeah let's just box in every republican as a homophobic, racist bigot. Seriously just cringe.... Everything's gotta be political. I hope we get over identity politics it only divides.

I honestly expected that JJonak would win, but god I'm so happy I was wrong. No one is more deserving than SonicFox for this award.

About half the country voted for him, no? Are all those people racist and bigots? Are any of them poc? How many liberals stayed home ? Don't you think that contributed to his win?

Hasan Minhaj actually addressed this on the Daily Show

You personally may not be a racist, sexist or xenophobe. But that comes with the package. So if you take that deal, what you're telling me is, "Hey, man. I don't hate you. I just don't care about you."

In all sincerity I recommend you do a lot more reading on American politics and social issues before speaking on something you have little knowledge of, or anything you have little knowledge of really.

I heard Justin Trudeau killed and ate a dog on live television. I could research that but I won't, I met a few Canadians who told me it was true. This is just from a fucking dumbass American perspective who has his head so far up his fucking asshole he can't read the news or forums for the last two years. So sorry bro, am I doing it right?

Yes.

Also half the country didn't vote for him. Less than half voted overall. He also lost by 2 million votes. Fuck him.
Nice avatar. Asuka ftw, lol. Voter turnout is pretty shitty in Canada, too. Pretty lame, if you ask me. Too bad more didnt get out because your country is suffering , it seems

Pretty shitty to label all Republicans as the same.

As a Libertarian personally it really does bother me to see people cheer this sort of divisive stereotyping.

Everyone deserves our respect and our consideration. Intersectionality is a self-destructive force however. People should not categorize themselves based on their immutable characteristics: they should do so based on their thoughts and opinions.

You know, I was taken aback at first by such a sweeping statement, but honestly thinking about it he has every right to hate what the GOP stands for.

Was there a sale on alt-accounts that I wasn't aware of?

Nah, no republican deserves my respect. Or anybody that defends them.

The GOP should stop pushing bigoted, ignorant, con men as their brand then.

A category I couldn't care less about suddenly became one of the highlights of the show. His speech was so sincere, and to deliberately bring all of that up was such a badass thing. Mad respect for him.
